I’ve worked with Afreen Wahab on numerous occasions. I highly recommend her. She brings elegance and an easy sophistication to every event. Her food is delicious, her palette subtle, complex, layered and always well thought out. Her visual presentation is equally as important. She works hard to make each display a work of art. As an art gallery owner, this is important to me. On many occasions she has created a food tasting that coincides with an actual work of art in my gallery. It’s this type of added value that Afreen brings to every event no matter how large or small.

Having taught at the San Francisco Culinary Academy she also brings an understanding of food and the food business that sets her apart from other culinary artists. Her commitment to locally grown, sustainable, slow food is important to my guests and me and keeps me coming back for more!

Cuisine Afreen specializes in simple dishes with complex flavor that are elegantly presented. She has a unique understanding of the alchemy of flavors – simple ingredients and spices work together to create a memorable dish. She works closely with her clients to develop a menu that fits their personal preferences. Our wedding was a low budget affair that was primarily a potluck. We asked Afreen to come up with two meat dishes that would be enough so that all of our over 200 guests would be able to have a taste of something special. She suggested roast lamb and whole salmon. For the salmon she worked with papaya and meyer lemon and dressed it with a fresh mango salsa. The lamb was first rubbed with a savory spice rub and then marinated for days in yogurt, honey, saffron, ground pistachios and ground almonds. She reduced the marinade and then presented it as a sauce on the side. The two dishes were perfectly cooked and elegantly presented. My only regret is that the lamb was gone before I got any. We would certainly use Cuisine Afreen again and recommend her without qualification.
