Everyone there was so helpful and nice! I had no idea what kind of dress I wanted when walking in there, but they made finding a dress so fun and easy! I really enjoyed my experience there!

David's Bridal was the first place I went to try on dresses, and I honestly did not think I would buy my dress in the first shop I visited, but the fifth dress I tried on was really beautiful, flattering and a great price compared to what I had been eye-ing online. It was a relief to find a gown I could see myself getting married in and check one thing off of my list. My appointment started at least a half an hour late, which was fine, since I wasn't in a rush. Once we did start, my consultant took her time with me, had me fitted for appropriate undergarments, and had great advice and dress selections for my style and figure.

Alterations were lovely. The ladies that made my dress fit just right were so kind, and seems that they can do just about anything. My fully beaded gown was let out at the top, taken in at the middle, and hemmed. I also had a bustle added to pick up the small train, beaded straps added that I could tuck into the strapless top, and bra cups added also.

I love the dress that I purchased from David's Bridal and am very happy with how much I paid for it. My main issues were with customer service.

The first time I went to David's Bridal, I had a very nice woman help me out. It wasn't too busy, so I didn't feel like I wasn't being helped. She wasn't pushy and was very helpful. She tried to give me a better idea of how I would look by having me try on shoes and a veil without making me feel as if she was selling it to me. I wish I had remembered her name because she was probably the only person in the store that I received exceptional service from. By the end of that visit, I had an idea of which dress I wanted, but I wasn't ready to make a decision.

The second time I went to David's Bridal, I didn't feel very comfortable with the woman helping me. I hate to be a picky customer, but she had bad breath and her underwear would show when she'd move around in certain ways. It came off as very unprofessional. She wasn't mean, but she was also not very enthusiastic; it seemed like she was doing the bare minimal. I did pick my dress that day, but I wished I had been helped by the woman who had initially helped me.

I went several more times to David's Bridal for my bridesmaids. It was fine, but the staff could have been a little more organized and attentive to the group given that there were several girls trying on dresses.

I also got my dress altered here. I only had the dress hemmed and bustled so the total cost for alterations were around $200. The alterations department did fine with the hemming and bustles. The beading on the straps were irritating my skin, so they said they could add fusible interfacing which would help not irritate my skin. When I came in for my final fitting, they said they didn't have fusible interfacing and that I could buy some across the street at JoAnns and add it myself. I was so burnt out from wedding planning that I didn't have the energy to argue with them.

SERVICE: This store is a hit or miss. My first visit was ok. The first lady that helped me was great, until she got busy with everybody else. If you walk in there without an appointment, they will most likely ignore you even if your sparkly engagement ring is right in front of their faces.
QUALITY and PRICE: If it's not Vera Wang or Oleg Cassini, look elsewhere. The quality is just so so and the price is NOT worth it.

I want to thank Davids Bridal in Colma specifically for making a bride not turn into a Bridezilla. the manager there, Susana, is THE BEST! she is accommodating and makes the stressful process of planning the dress and attire portion of the wedding so not stressful. I had my sister exchange her dress and she had to go to Roseville location and they were not accommodating at all. The dress had tags and they didnt want to exchange her dress. I did a few exchanges at the Colma location and my dresses had their tags and I could exchange anything without being harrassed. I strongly recommend this location specifically . Great value, excellent manager, friendly service, and always on time. Thanks Davids Bridal. I'm a customer for life!

I wonder if service has improved there lately, because my experience there was great. In fact, I had horrible service at other bridal boutiques (unattentive staff yet sales pressure) and was feeling discouraged until I went to David's Bridal. I had the friendliest lady, Angela, help me. She gave me a catalogue to pick out dresses I liked and brought them all to me to try. She was patient, gave helpful feedback, was enthusiastic and made me feel like a bride. I ended up loving 2 or 3 dresses there whereas I had found not a single one I liked at 3 other stores I visited previously. Angela even allowed me to try on my two favorite dresses a couple times when I had difficulty making a final decison. To top it off, the materials/fabric were better quality than I expected from David's Bridal while the price was just right. At first glance, David's doesn't have the chic, luxurious feel of the independent boutiques, but once I met the staff, it felt golden, especially compared the other places I went. The alterations department was a different story. I initially gave them a positive review when I got my dress back, but after I wore it at the wedding, I realized how poorly done the alterations were. The workmanship was pretty poor. I had a simple hemline but the sewing looked like it was done by a 3rd grader, and the dress was still a little long. I was a little worried about that at my fitting but they assured me it was because I was bending over to look down, and it was the right length if I walked straight. However, I tore the netting (thank goodness it was just a layer underneath) at the beginning of my wedding day walking to the car, NOT looking down! Then, the bustles were a joke. They were not done nearly well enough to hold up the weight of the train, and a couple of them tore through the layers of the dress by the end of the day! I don't think it was really noticeable (at least I didn't notice and it doesn't show in the pictures) but it was annoying to find my dress damaged afterwards. So if this were just for the alterations department, I would give them a 1, and I would not recommend them at all. But the sales service was so excellent that I would send other people there, so they still get 4 stars for that.

The service was horrible. Both times I was there, I practically dressed myself and my 5 bridesmaid. I spent most of my time looking for the consultant. At the end I got fed up and looked through the racks myself looking for dresses. The only reason why there is one star is because the dresses are nice and the prices are reasonable. Also, I would not recommend scheduling an appointment on the weekend, since those are the days most brides have time for a fitting.

I went into the store without an appointment just to look around not knowing what I wanted. The ladies in the store were so helpful and patient with me. They helped me pick out about 5 different styles and then I tried on probably 30 dresses. I was so pleased with the service I received at this store.
When I returned for my brides maids dresses, i requested the same lady as before. She was just as helpful and provided such good service! I am definitely going back for my flower girl dress!

Sigh... so much good, so much bad.

The GOOD: I got a gorgeous dress that I loved, at a fabulous price. That's most important, right? At my first visit, my consultant (Jackie) was really nice, listened to me, showed me only gowns in my price range and in the style I wanted. And at my second visit, they saw me without an appointment! It was the Saturday before Memorial Day, and my mom was visiting from LA. She wanted to see the dress, so we stopped by the store at 9am right after they opened. Despite dropping in on a busy day, they let me try on the dress I was considering. That was very cool, and much appreciated. And when I decided to buy it, they did their "ring the bell" tradition and my mom cried! Yay!

The BAD: The bureaucracy behind the curtain sucks. (1) When I placed the dress order, I was told it would take 3 months to arrive... then I got a call less than 2 weeks later (!) saying my dress was ready to pick up. That was great... except the woman on the phone sternly told me that, due to lack of space, I had less than a week to pick it up or they'd send it back to the warehouse. RUDE. Not to mention, picking up my dress THAT early meant I had to hide it from my fiancee for 4+ months. Not cool. (2) When I had the dress altered, I had a stern Italian guy named Victor who was a real jerk. He snapped at me for putting my dress on before my heels (how about telling me beforehand?) and then impatiently watched me struggling to put on my heels without offering a hand or calling one of the women tailors to help. Oh, and he forgot to program my follow-up appointment into the computer, because when I showed up in September to pick up my finished dress, they had no record of my appointment. (Luckily, another tailor, Caryl, took care of me and she was totally sweet and awesome!)

Bottom line, if you're looking for a beautiful dress at a beautiful price, go here. If you're looking to be pampered or for a carefree, hassle-free process... don't.
