I thought that this David's Bridal was pretty nice. The girls were all super helpful everytime I went in (which was a lot because of alterations/slip problems/etc) and were also very quick and efficient. I absolutely loved my dress and when I lost a bunch of weight and needed a new smaller size with extra length added to it 2 months before the wedding they made it happen. Alterations was also very nice and helpful and did a great job making the dress fit perfect. Only small problem: there was tiny, tiny light rust colored stain on one of the layers of tulle towards the bottom. It was not visible unless you were half an inch away from the spot, so it wasn't a really big deal but when you pay as much as you do for this dress, and to alter it, it should be spotless and perfect. Otherwise everything else was great! Found beautiful bridesmaids dresses here too that all the girls liked and at a super reasonable price.

The people working were excellent. My only issues were that they pressed by dress after alterations were done, but my wedding wasn't for 2 months. So I had to ask to have it pressed again. The loops didn't hold very well at first, but the dress was amazing and the cost was excellent and it did hold up. As a first time bride, I didn't know that it would help to have the crinoline pressed, so make sure you request it. Overall, great experience!

NOTE: This review applies to the location at 8118 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI‎.
ALSO NOTE: If I had known before we used them that another woman had been basically ordered out of the store around 2004 when she let them know that they were there for two wedding gowns, I wouldn't have used them at all. A friend mentioned this to me after we'd already bought my dress; it's possible that they are more welcoming toward same-sex couples (or at least their money) now, but I married a man so I can't say.
I knew when I chose Davids Bridal for my bridal party's dresses that I was not going to receive incredible customer service or, for that matter, quality. I picked them because a) they're cheap and b) they're everywhere, and I and my bridesmaids were all students or recent graduates and scattered across three states.
When my pre-husband, local bridesmaid, and I arrived at DB on a Saturday in late February (we'd seen an ad about a sale), the place was pretty crowded, and the women at the table in front seemed astounded that I hadn't made an appointment. I explained to them that I was really just interested in looking at one particular wedding gown I'd seen on the website (I had the style number and a picture printed out), and a couple of bridesmaid dresses, since I was actually leaning towards finding a bridesmaid dress for myself as well.
I was informed, after a lot of form-filling out that never actually seemed to get used for anything except selling my phone number to every wedding vendor in southern Wisconsin, that I would just have to wait until they could "squeeze [me] in," and that while I could browse the bridesmaid and formalwear sections, I was not allowed to go into the bridal gown racks because "we're very busy today."
After about 15-20 minutes of looking at bridesmaid dresses--we found the two I'd short-listed from the website in the first 5--my bridesmaid got fed up and dragged me into the wedding gown racks, where we flagged down one of the "consultants" and got the bridal gown I was considering. Then we let ourselves into an unused fitting area, and within 20 minutes we had determined that one of the bridesmaid dresses was the clear winner. (Just as well--it was about 1/3 the cost of the bridal gown, and it looked fantastic, whereas the the bridal gown just looked... unfortunate.)
We took the dress up to the front to order it in the color I wanted (Ruby). As the pleasant girl at the register was ringing us up, she suffered some confusion about how to enter the commission since I'd informed her that we'd helped ourselves. One of the "consultants," sweeping by behind her, snapped in an extremely snide tone that she should just put her own name, IT'S FINE.
It was pretty clear to us that a major reason they hadn't had any time for us was that we'd been honest about not really wanting a bridal gown. Whatever--I really preferred not having someone hovering over me trying to convince me I needed a damn $150 veil or something.
It was annoying, however, when the dress came in ~4 weeks later, they called me, and then couldn't find it for 20 minutes when I came in to pick it up. Turns out they'd reversed my names in the computer system. I realize that my first name is unusual, but my surname ends in "-man"; it shouldn't take a detective to figure out that "-man" is generally not a given name kind of ending. Also, as noted, they sold my name and number to pretty much every wedding vendor in Wisconsin (without any kind of permission, obviously), despite the fact that they had in their records the fact that the wedding was taking place in Nevada. I couldn't have used those vendors even if I'd wanted to.
The dress itself was nice, and my bridesmaids were able to get the same dress in a different color at this location and locations in Missouri and Massachusetts, so I basically got what I expected out of using them. I took it elsewhere for alterations, since they're notorious for overcharging for them.
Also, when I came back in to buy a longline bra the month before the wedding, the store was not at ALL crowded and they still kept me waiting for a "consultant" for about 15 minutes--this time, since I couldn't find where they kept the underwear in order to help myself, I had to resort to standing in the middle of the salesfloor glaring at the ceiling in order to get some attention. I'm almost 30; I assure you that I know how to try on a bra, even a bridal one, but apparently DB doesn't trust me.
And in fact once I managed to get my connection to the stockroom, it was a fairly short process. The bra cost $80, which is slightly more than half the cost of the dress, but it's well made and that's pretty standard.
tl;dr: The dresses are cheap and you'll probably find something you like, but even if you're already not expecting high-quality service, you should probably lower your expectations even further.

All four of my bridesmaids got their dresses there, and they were very nice. There were lots of options for the colors I choose. Alterations were very expensive there- I would recommend going somewhere else.

I absolutely loved my dress. And the price was even better! I was just a little disappointed with the confusing with my bridesmaids getting their dresses. The all lived in different areas and it seemed that they never had their computer system updated reflecting the dress choices. So, of course I got many calls from my girls asking questions during the process. Also, many of them commented on the poor service.

The ladies at David's Bridal on the west side of Madison are absolutely amazing. I bought the dress at another branch of this store in Brookfield, WI, and the staff was nowhere near as accommodating. I had a nightmare about a month before my wedding that my dress did not fit and had been altered wrong, and I stopped by the store unannounced to see if I could try on the dress. The lovely girl at the appointments desk led me back to alterations and personally helped me find and try on the dress, which was just as beautiful as the day I first tried it on (and it fit!)! They also did a wonderful job helping my rambunctious, free spirited flower girl pick out her dress and were so patient. If you are looking for a helpful staff, a wide variety of styles and choices, ability to try on a dress and buy it that day at a good value, this is the place to go.

I loved my dress but really it was pretty expensive! Also the seamstress did a wonderful job but their rates are hudge! I would definitly recommend finding a cheaper seamstress if you are on a pinch. Also, I would not recommend purchasing a veil there either I paid $135.00 for something I could have made for $10.

I ordered my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses through David's Bridal. I was very pleased with my dress. After my first fitting my alterations were not done correctly, however, they quickly fixed the problem and I was not stressed out about my dress at all. My bridesmaids also experienced good service, and we felt we received good prices for our attire!
