We had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner here. We are not from the Dayton area. I called many venues and when I talked to Jordan Bishop, I knew we were going to book it here. She was a fantastic help along with the staff. The food was fantastic, the staff was very helpful and attentive to all our needs. I would recommend The Dayton Racquet Club to anyone. Thank you to all that made a special night wonderful.

My daughter's ceremony was in the lobby of the Kettering Tower and the reception was upstairs at the Racquet Club. The service was outstanding and the venue was stunning. The Racquet Club's staff handled everything and it exceeded our expectations. Many of our guests stated that it was the best venue/reception they had ever attended. The food was outstanding and the wait staff friendly and very professional. We could not have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend this venue.

The Dayton Racquet Club is located at the highest point in the city - a perfect place for the highest point in your life!

Jordan, Brad and the team at the Racquet Club were wonderful to work with for our special day. They had great suggestions on how to customize our wedding without being pushy or too forceful about anything. The food and drinks were amazing, and the staff are some of the most hospitable people in the region!

We had both the ceremony and the reception at the club. It was amazing to see them transform the ballroom from ceremony mode to reception mode while our guests were enjoying cocktail hour at the bar. With 120 people in attendance, the space felt perfect for our needs -- plenty of room to dance and walk around, but the place definitely did not feel empty!

The Racquet Club is one of the more pricey options in town for a wedding, but we felt it was well worth the cost. Have a member sponsor your wedding - that will save you some money. We decided to order their top wedding package -- it includes a champagne toast, along with your wedding cake (and they can get really creative with their cakes - you will be impressed with their creations!) and fringe benefits for the wedding party. All and all, I highly recommend them if you want a classy and fun wedding located in the heart of Dayton!

Our wedding at the Dayton Racquet Club was more spectacular than we ever imagined it could be. We chose the DRC for many reasons. We had a particular date we wanted: 11/11/11. We needed space for 150-200 guests. We wanted a place where we could host both our ceremony and reception indoors. We wanted good food. We wanted a nice view (not a hall without windows). And, excellent customer was of the upmost importance to us.
We were engaged on December 29, 2010 and knew that 11/11/11 would be our magical date. We began to search for a venue immediately knowing this date would be popular. We first tried well known wedding venues in Dayton: The Art Institute, The Masonic Temple, The Schuster Center, and Cox Arboretum, all unavailable.
We began looking in Cincinnati and fell in love with Paul Brown Stadium. It was available (pending the Bengals schedule). There was plenty of space for our guests and room to host both the ceremony and reception. The view of the Cincinnati skyline is amazing! The customer service was excellent. The food options were not all that appealing. Considering we were having trouble finding a venue available on our date and PBS had most everything we were looking for, we reserved our date. PBS seemed perfect at first. The uncertainty of the pending Bengals schedule was stressful! That, combined with the drive from Kettering to Cincinnati for wedding functions, and the fact that we were not impressed with the catering options--all had me nervous. We decided it was what we wanted; unless we could find something in Dayton that met the same criteria; and we did not expect that would happen.
I do not know why we did not first consider the Dayton Racquet Club. Maybe we expected that it was already booked? We met with the wedding coordinator and immediately knew that it was the place for us. It had everything we loved about PBS and so much more! So, we reserved our date and let PBS know we no longer needed them to hold 11/11/11 for us.
Our ceremony was in the lobby of the Kettering Tower, on the first floor. There were some bumps along the way. First, the Kettering Tower changed ownership mid-contract which concerned us. The Racquet Club did a fantastic job of compensating in other areas to accommodate the lobby rental price change. Then, a few weeks before the wedding we found that a restaurant had moved into the Lobby. We expected to have the lobby to ourselves and we found there to be quite a bit of traffic and noise there on Friday nights. The Club ensured us they would take care of it and they did. Our coordinator met with the owner of the restaurant and explained that we had reserved the lobby and they made a deal to keep things quiet during our ceremony. The coordinator even stood guard to ensure the restaurant door remained closed during our reserved time.
We rented white resin chairs from Prime Time. The Club set up and tore down the chairs for us and the placement was just as we asked. Furst Florist decorated the front and the back of the aisle with potted ferns and placed ten hurricane vases with floating candles on both sides of the aisle. It was a great mix of modern and elegant; a beautiful setting for an evening wedding ceremony.
Our reception was in the main dining room of the Dayton Racquet Club, which is the 29th floor of the Kettering Tower. The main dining room is excellent for many reasons. First, it easily accommodated our approximately 140 guests. Second, it certainly has the best view of Dayton; considering it is the top floor of the tallest building complete with a panoramic view of the city. It includes a nice dance floor. There is a portion of the room that is separated which we used as a kids room. It was a huge hit for the kids to have a place to “be kids”: watch movies, play games, etc. The piano in the main dining room served as a beautiful cake table. We had three separate cake tiers made by Frosted and placed on wooden pedestals that my dad made for me. The best thing about the cake is that it was part of our wedding package: recommended and paid for by the Racquet Club. We even had a slideshow of pictures playing on the Club TV. And, it happened that there was a full moon which lit up our sweetheart table.
Rather than having a plated meal, we opted for a buffet which saved us money on service. Our package included an open bar for the first hour. From 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM we hosted a cocktail hour. We paid for beer and wine for the following three hours; keeping the bar open during dinner then closing at 11:30 PM. The buffet was a gorgeous spread of beef, chicken, and fish, accompanied by several vegetable sides, along with salad choices including a seafood salad. Many guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. The salmon with lemon caper sauce was especially delicious.
The customer service offered by the staff at the DRC is impeccable. All phone calls and emails were handled promptly and professionally. More than once, we were invited to the Club to review details in person with the coordinators to ensure they knew exactly what we wanted and to give us peace of mind throughout the process. As I mentioned, there were some bumps. For example, our Wedding Coordinator changed three times: first one quit, second person was on vacation, so third person filled in. However, each person was very kind and easy to work with making each transition smooth. The day of our wedding, our coordinator Lyn was at our call throughout the entire day. She met with the florist and cake baker. She ensured everything was in its place: including moving items to the reception after the ceremony. The wait staff did an excellent job of keeping our glasses full and our tables tidy. My biggest complaint is that at the end of the night we did not expect to have to remove our floral centerpieces and other decor. We had been told by wedding consultant #1 that they had ample storage and we could arrange for pick up of such items at a later date. Instead, at the end of the night we were told there was a wedding the next day and we needed to remove our décor. We found ourselves scrambling to clean up and recruit friends and family to load arrangements into their cars. It was inconvenient and embarrassing as we had not planned for this, but it worked out thanks to our amazing guests.
We considered many other things when planning our day. Parking in a downtown area is usually a hassle. Thankfully, the Kettering Tower has an attached parking garage and parking was not an issue for our guests. We also looked at other amenities such as restrooms. The Racquet Club has clean restrooms conveniently located by the main dining room. Another huge perk was the use of the Athletics area at the Racquet Club. This space gave the wedding party a place to freshen up. The bridal party stayed hidden in Athletics until the ceremony started. Be sure you have someone assigned to give you the queue to get downstairs because unfortunately we were late; but it worked out and was unnoticed by most. Then, after the ceremony the wedding party went back to Athletics for some drink and appetizers while we waited for the DJ to announce our Grand Entrance.
We know we are extremely blessed to have had such an incredible wedding. It truly was the most amazing day of our lives and we owe a big THANKS to the Dayton Racquet Club.
