Do you have liability insurance?
Yes
Describe your DJ style:
From the big band era to todays hottest music with special attention to your requests and your guests.
What is your usual attire?
Full tuxedo unless other attire is requested.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
I have numerous sources for music and my selection is vast, but if for some unknown reason I don't have your song,if you could provide me with a CD or Mp3 that would be great!
How many other DJs do you work with?
When you book Gary Manheim for your special day, you get Gary Manheim! I do NOT sub-contract parties to anyone.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Four hours is my minimum, and I'm available for extra time if I feel you and your guests want more
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Depending on how crunched you are for time (and who isn't!) We could handle everything via phone, fax & e-mail if need be. But I've always believed it best to meet face to face, it also reassures couples and makes them more at ease.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
As you wish!
Do you bring your own equipment?
Absolutely! And I have ON-SITE back ups for all!
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
I have a great selection of party lights, fog and bubbles available, they really do enhance the atmosphere for a great party!
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
It normally takes about 30 minutes for me to set up, but I like to get there about 2 hours prior to my scheduled start time to insure everything sounds great and looks sharp. I am totally self sufficient regarding tables.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
Nope.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
No advertising will be displayed, except for a few business cards in my pocket.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
I will guide you through all the protocol of the day, but I will never act like a game show host or embarrass you or your guests.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
By simply playing great dancable music!
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
While it is not mandatory, is is greatly appreciated. But I understand that budgets can be tight, so don't worry.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Once again, The music flows continuous throughout your reception.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Absolutely! But it hasn't happened yet!
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
One rececption per day. I do it very well and devote the entire day's attention to your special day.
What is your overtime rate?
Overtime is simply pro-rated. No double secret overtime pricing here.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
I am a mobile disc jockey so I have to be mobile. No additional charges for traveling.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
I do request a deposit of half down, the balance payable on the day of the event or earlier if possible.

I was surprised to read the comments left in the previous review because my husband and I had a completely different experience. We met Gary at a tasting held at our reception hall- Round Hill, in Washingtonville, New York. Gary was very personable and seemed willing to work with us to ensure the experience was what we wanted.
Prior to the wedding we were in contact with Gary a number of times because we wanted to do a couple of non-traditional things during the ceremony and reception. He was very easy to contact and very receptive to our ideas. When the day came everything went great. He arrived early and set up a system outside because we wanted specific songs played (which we provided to him ahead of time) at different times before and during the ceremony which was held in the garden. Inside during the reception he played both songs we had selected plus incorporated some of his own choosing and our guests had a blast! I guess he did chose a few that we didn't ask for specifically but we were totally okay with that figuring he knows how to read the mood of the party and keep the guests dancing (which he did). In the middle of the reception we had one of our close friends play the piano and then one of our other friends then got up and sang karaoke style which was hysterical. Gary made sure that the transitions and unexpected twists all went smoothly. All in all we thought that Gary did a great job and would definitely recommend his services. Our family and friends have commented so many times that ours was one of the most 'feel good' weddings they had ever been to and we believe the 'soundtrack' to our day contributed significantly to that.

I would not recommend this DJ. My husband and I spent many hours coming up with songs that we put on a playlist. We even broke the music down into categories of when to play them during the wedding. We gave the list to Gary a couple of weeks prior to our wedding and were assured that they would be played. Most of the songs were not played at our reception or were unable to be played because the DJ did not have them available. The wrong song was played when we cut our cake as well. Despite many attempts to "step it up a bit", Gary continued to make his own song selections during the reception. Needless to say, we were not pleased with our DJ.
During the planning process, Gary was easy to get in touch with, returned phone calls, and was cooperative.
