Re-introducing Emer Lunasin...Staying power to serve all generations! With my primary work dedicated to producing bridal shows, it's hard to stay away from experiencing the joy and fun that I have seen starting out as a DJ in the 80's. Always young at heart, I love to play the latest, but I still enjoy playing music from the past that you and your parents have enjoyed.

That said, the need to work every weekend is not as important as ensuring the fun that I get to experience with your guests once I am hired. The admin requirements to secure business transactions is my least favorite time with you and your fiance. Once I am hired, understanding your reception and/or ceremony timeline is what I look forward to. With experience of owning a one-stop shop in the 90's and just after 9/11, I am familiar with the whole process and focusing on just the DJ aspect is the comfort zone I like most. What to play, what to say, and when to play & say it is what you need to address to me during our meeting(s) so that you will get that peace of mind and tend to the other important parts of your wedding day!

I also work for MorLina Events, Big Dreams Entertainment, Astro Entertainment, and many other disc jockey as well as wedding planner/wedding coordinator companies.

I am DJ Tripp because I love to travel. There are extremely special deals to serve any bride and groom around our country that would almost be the same rate as hiring a professional disc jockey in your local area. Ask me about this insane deal that I have already done with past clients in Dallas, Chicago and Spokane! Otherwise I love to continue to serve in our surrounding 757 area!

Congratulations and I hope and look forward in possibly serving you...anywhere in this country! Thank you :) Read less

What music genres are in your collection?
60s, 80s, 90s, Country, Dance, Funk, Jazz, Motown, Oldies, Pop, R&B, Rock, Soul, Swing
Do you have liability insurance?
Describe your DJ style:
Interactive with respect to reacting to your guests actions based on music flow and flexible announcement changes.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
Anything over the average of 15 songs per hour will be shared with guests that are allowed by you to request music. Anything under that is suggested by me to play for the active and seated guests ready to continue dancing!
What is your usual attire?
Tuxedo is typical for weddings. Suit and tie can also be worn. Themes such as Hawaiian/Beach attire or Costume/Halloween attire can happen.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
If not available on iTunes, I will ask for an mp3 version emailed to me or transferred from thumb drive or disc prior to start of event.
How many other DJs do you work with?
Many of the local DJs I network with as well as the storefront DJ businesses have referred me and/or booked me to work for them. Whether I book them myself or get booked by them, you will always get the same respectable, enjoyable, professional service!
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Three hours is the popular minimum, but four to five hours are more common.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Definitely. We can meet once to gain acceptance and then one more the week before your big day! If more meetings are needed, I welcome that option! Even Skype if a physical appearance becomes a challenge :)
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
With more and more interracial and mixed weddings, I understand the need to respect and honor both ethic backgrounds and customs. I especially understand and appreciate my Filipino "connections" :)
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
This "fourth" play list is actually my most important. Besides the "must play", the dinner music, and the dance music, this is one list (if any) I need to also have ready (to not play).
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes, for all local and regional areas. For out of state weddings such as previously performed areas like Chicago, Dallas, and Spokane, I will rent equipment in your area that is challenging to check in or carry on a plane. Laptops, hard drives, wireless mics, and accessories are what I usually bring on to a plane.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Disco balls, uplighting, spot lighting, dance lights, and other special effect lights are definitely offered by me. For major uplighting, I can recommend a choice of companies around me. We may have to review bubble machines, fog machines and strobe type lights for the integrity of your guests and the liability of your reception location. I can provide proof of liability in any case.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
One hour is typical for already familiar locations. Two hours with extra equipment such as projector screens or non-ground level set up. The time that your guests in another area for cocktail does not count towards your fees. This time just provides more set up time for me.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
One banquet size 6 foot table and and 8' x 8' area is just fine. Even the thinner classroom tables are okay. More space would be needed for nearby projector screens, another performer such as a band, or temporary storage for your other vendors.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
No. I do not believe in advertising at your wedding. If you have a sign or banner that displays you and your fiance's name, I welcome it!
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Yes. To announce your wedding entourage for the grand entrance before your meal is what I look forward to. Talking between songs may be necessary to encourage your guests to continue to have a great time! I can be as interactive in speaking to your audience as much as you want. I can also be as reserved as you want by not "over speaking" if you want that "juke box" DJ atmosphere as well :)
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
Encouraging guests to dance by speaking to them on the wireless mic would be the start, but I also enjoy being on the dance floor to initiate the start of the next song, or join them to attract more guests on the dance floor.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Going non-stop for three hour minimum is fine. If you provide me a meal to eat with your other hired vendors, that would be fine too. Otherwise I can also play a pre-determined play list and go get a meal nearby during the meal for 30 minutes if you wish.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Yes. I would appreciate you finalize this play list with me two days before your big day!
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Unless it is time for God to take me away, my cell phone and AAA has always come to the rescue during those unforeseen vehicle situations. As for "being under the weather", I will still perform as usual (but will keep a distance to all of you to not pass on the sickness. Tough question to answer but truthful.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
No. I have experience that many times in the 90's and will not do anymore. Preparing for your big day is better not to rush it with other events on the same day!
What is your overtime rate?
Depending on the package, it ranges from as high as $100 to as low as $25 per hour overtime.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Yes. Fifty cents per mile round trip. Tolls and parking fees are already included in this charge.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
Half down as retainer and other half two weeks before your event. One week before your event is also okay if we are meeting one last time to finalize details. Cash, check or credit cards are accepted in all payments.

Emer is beyond awesome! He takes the time to get to know his clients and what they want. He has energy to keep the crowd going. Emer is probably one of the top 5 go to person in Hampton Roads for weddings. It was a pleasure working with him and it is truly an honor to call him a good friend. Thanks for everything!

I thought it would be a hassle having to hire a DJ that is located far from where I lived because I really would not have the time to see him, but it definitely all worked out GREAT!! We communicated through the phone and emails. He definitely helped me get more organized in regards to our music choice. We shared ideas and took some of his advice because he is more familiar with weddings than I am. I finally met him right before we had to open up the dinner/dancing area at my reception. He did a great job and everyone was asking where I got my DJ from. Definitely a great choice! He was recommended through our friends, who is actually doing their wedding in the summer.

If I could give above 5 stars I DEFINITELY WOULD!

Quality of Service:
DJ Tripp (or Emer as I know him) was able to feel the crowd and play music accordingly, emcee'd with great enthusiasm, and provided useful input to my timelines that greatly benefited the flow of the wedding reception.

Never had a problem contacting him or getting a response from him.

Extremely professional! Knew exactly what he was doing and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there.

Was VERY affordable especially for the quality of service he provided.

Emer met with me on several occasions in person at his office to go through my wedding timeline to ensure that he was familiar with all aspects of the event. We even did this over the phone once too. During one of the meetings he scheduled (our final walk-through) he was under the impression it was going to be held over Skype and I thought it was going to be held in person. When I called to tell him I was on the way to his office at 8PM for the meeting he was already headed out of the door but he stayed and we ended up holding this meeting at his office until nearly 10:30PM. He did so without any hesitation. He found time to go over every name in my wedding party (which was A LOT of people with DIFFICULT names) and he made sure he was able to pronounce them correctly.

Truly wonderful all around DJ for a wedding!

Donna, I am appreciative of your kind words. I'm just honored to be a part of you and Josh's BIG DAY at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Norfolk. Your vendors were very accommodating and the FLOW was just right. I wish we had more time to enjoy the evening but your bar & photo booth were great attractions not to miss! Your allowance for the speakers and projector screen positioned itself just right. Your guests were fun to see and your planner kept me informed throughout! The payoff was how seamless and correct everything came in place. I appreciate the time you and Josh put in to communicate with me. My best to you, Josh and your wonderful families!
Great job! Always going above and beyond to make our wedding special from planning out of state!

Carly, I had a great time with you and Chad at the Virginia Beach Resort and Conference Center. I'm so glad everything worked out given the distance from Arizona to Virginia! You had a fun bridal party and all your guests were very responsive to everything going on! I appreciate you and Chad's communication via email, cell, skype and finally in person! We made it to the end of the night and I felt complete with all that you wanted to happen. Thank you for having me celebrate the big day for Mr. & Mrs. Chad Gepfrey! Yay! I got the pronunciation right the whole time! Smiles!
DJ Tripp was awesome for my wedding reception. He brought great positive party energy. He was receptive to the guests and what types of music the guests liked dancing to. My family and friends likes get up to dance and get down with the party! He announced the bridal party with great ease, professionalism and his suggestions were helpful for sequencing events. He also had lighting that helped to make the reception hall prettier with elegant ambiance. My sister and cousins have been using DJ Tripp for many years, he always throws a great party!

Cristie, I had a great time with you and Jason's families and friends. My trip to UVA's Alumni Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia was a wonderful experience. Having a current student there helped as well as Cody's ongoing communication throughout the day and night. I didn't let the hard rain affect us as we all kept dancing the night away. Going through each of your family members makes me feel as a member too. Just seeing and hearing how much everyone loves you and Jason really says a lot. I enjoyed the continuing "Namata Glee Club" tradition and even the groomsmen got in on the act with their "Magic Mike" rendition! I appreciate you and Jason having me travel up there and be a part of your special day in Charlottesville!
DJ Emer is the most amazing DJ I've seen and worked with. Its that time of year for my husband and I as all of our friends (including us) are getting married. I saw Emer at a friends wedding last year and knew that I had to have him for mine. He gets everyone up dancing while keeping them all informed about the events.

Thank you so much Ashley. Despite nature's "call of the winds", everyone banded together for a great time at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Virginia! Seeing everyone happy both Friday and Saturday was really something! This was my first experience in your area just 18 miles east of West Virginia and 9 miles south of Maryland. That satisfying sigh of relief for such a wonderful evening paid off in the end. The "togetherness" your guests expressed just showed how much they cared for you and Ryan! Thanks again:)
Emer did an excellent job at being our Dj. He was able to help us pick out music and find music we specially requested. He also was able to meet with us frequently to run ideas. I have gotten many compliments from our guests about how he got the crowd involved. We had a blast! Thanks, Emer!

Kristen, I had a wonderful time seeing and hearing your guests having fun at the Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach! Observing you and JC enjoying the entire time showed how great it was! You could not have selected a better location, a better day and a better group of people to share your special day. Thank you for having considered me!
Emer is a great DJ. He has done many of my family events. I would definitely recommend him. He is willing to make his customers happy, easy to contact and communicate with. Energizes the crowd and keeps the party going.

Thanks Jenny! After so many years, can you believe I'm finally documenting my DJ services now? I've been so into the work that I forget to go over this part. This is why I love do what I do! The energy that your family and friends have over each party is something I live for! Your ceremony and reception at the Piazza in the Village in Colleyville, Texas was so beautiful! Thank you for your hospitality in Keller, Texas as well! I love to travel anywhere in the country and I thank you for the experience of having to DJ for the first time in good ol' Texas! The weather in Dallas is awesome without the humidity, and who knows? Maybe Houston? Thank you so much for you and Justin's wonderful hospitality!
Emer contributed tremendously to the success of our wedding day! A night of High energy, audience participation, excellent communication, attention to detail and most of all- fun! Our guests were complimenting Emer on his awesome job for weeks. We could not ask for a better DJ! Thank you Emer!

Traveling to Chicago and staying at the Eaglewood Resort and Spa in Itasca, Illinois was well worth it! I think I spent more time on the dance floor than behind the DJ area. The games, the announcements, and the group dances were just a few to keep the awesome flow of the evening! I will never forget how much fun I had with all of your guests at Venuti's Banquets and Ristorante in Addison, Illinois! Vladimr, having me for you and Joanna's ceremony and reception was an honor. Thank you!
