Do you have liability insurance?
Describe your DJ style:
We are professionals and our style is based on the customer wants and venue circumstance. There's a time to motivate the crowd to generate the desired atmosphere. The DJ's performance is geared to the desired atmosphere.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
With our Elite Package the customer can select every song if they desire.
What is your usual attire?
Our attire is always professional and in tune with the venue theme. Generally, we don't want to look like one of the guests or wedding party, but our DJ will wear formal attire, if that's the script.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
We generally provide popular chart music to the customer at no cost. We will also play music made available by the wedding party. With our Elite Package the customer can select every song if they desire and we guarantee to play it.
How many other DJs do you work with?
DJ45rpm has five (5) DJs/Emcees/karaoke hosts, DJ45, DJ Downtown Joe Brown, DJ Ray, DJ Pedro and DJ Syed (Indian). Pedro specializes in Latin music and is a DJ circuit club DJ. Dj Joe specializes in Raggae.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Our minimum paid DJ time is two (2) hours in our immediate location (N. VA) and 3 hours for locations outside of N. VA. Couples shouldn't worry about a DJ/EMCEE live performance time, as all DJs/EMCEE base their bids on total time and there are many hours preparation time for a wedding. We do have different rates for playing music and providing DJ/emcee services.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Both the bride and groom should meet us before booking. We invite them to either our studio or a current event to view our performance. Being a DJ at a wedding is no different than being a DJ at another event - it's the EMCEE role that's important. If your DJ is also your Emcee it is important for us to build a relationship with the bride/groom and script out the DJ45rpm role in the wedding.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
With DJ Pedro, we have one of the best Latin songbooks in the Eastern US. DJ45 is a long-time fan of Brazilian Jazz. We also have Indian music and Indian DJs and Downtown Joe Brown has a large Raggae and Island song collection,
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
Absolutely. The last list we had covered 246 songs.
Do you bring your own equipment?
DJ45rpm is a mobile DJ service. We have the best hi-tech and powerful sound systems in the DC market with 10,600 watts/channel rms stereo output. Our standard equipment provides club quality sound for a venue of 10,000 guests. We have 10 separate sound systems and only use professional gear. At weddings we have back up for every system component - even a back-up PC.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Visit our web site and view our $10,000 lighting equipment. We are Metro DCs laser light show and uplighting specialists. Additional cost for lighting ranges from $50 to $1000, depending on the type of display the customer desires. DJ45rpm has more lighting available than any DJ in the Washington DC market.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
Set up and stage requirements are detailed in the written agreement. DJs need access to the function room at least 30 minutes prior to the start-time, sometimes we need 2-hours.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
Stage requirements are detailed in the written agreement. For functions with less than 125 quests, our space requirement is a standard 8 ft long function table.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
We have a banner but we do not display banners or advertise at weddings
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Our role to emcee is determined by the written agreement with the couple and the customer's desire for guest interaction. We make announcements according to a prepared script, such as introducing the wedding party, 1st dance, etc. We do not take our role as being the 'center of attraction' at a wedding reception, but we are professional performers and can readily take over the show if that's what is needed.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
It's the music and the brdie and groom. If we can get the B & G on the floor, everyone joins in.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
For receptions 4 hours or longer, we need to eat to keep our energy up. We have no requirements that the wedding party provide a meal: but it is always welcome.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Music is always programmed to play if we are on break.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
We have 5 DJs. One of us is always available to fill in. We also have an associate DJs from a network pool.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
What is your overtime rate?
Rates are detailed in the 'extra hours' paragraph in written agreement. Generally, added hours are not more expensive than other hours and often less expensive, unless past 11 pm.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Within our standard market area there is no travel charge, and travel time does not count as performance time. For functions outside of our market area there is no travel expense per se, as our quote covers travel.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
35% to book a date.

Kevin with DJ45RPM did a fabulous job at our wedding. I was nervous about not rehearsing with my DJ thinking that he would miss something or communication between would be forgotten the day of because I had a confusing wedding and a lot of details but he pulled through! He made the day entertaining! The experience was very custom as I was able to select every song on the "to play" list. My friends and family had such a great time. The quality of his equipment is superb and he is a friendly, easy to work with individual. There were a couple of snags with lining up times to do phone meetings before hand, but those were very minor and I would hire Kevin again in a heartbeat for my next event!

Kevin, did add me to his schedule a week and half before my wedding. At the wedding ceremony I had him play one song the bridal processional which he did, but failed to cut the song when i got to the stage. I just stood there for 45 seconds trying to get Kevin's attention but he wasnt paying attention to me, it was very awkward. At the reception, the music was barely heard, that was apparently because he setup his speakers behind the pillars. A guest also told me he was shouting at his associate, which was very unprofessional. I wish I had not paid him for the dj, and instead used an ipod with someone controlling it. I did contact him post wedding and he did talk with me about the problem, but of course he did everything right and everyone else was at fault. I dont recommend him.

After I posted this review, he sent me a email threatening to sue me, and that he is confident he will win, if I dont remove the review in 24hours. Extremely unprofessional.

Thanks to Kevin for the lighting (DJ45rpm), my son's wedding reception on June 5th, 2010 was a big success. The reception was held at China Garden Chinese restaurant in Arlington Virginia. After the the decorations and the lighting were in placed, the restaurant was transformed into an elegant and beautiful wedding hall. The illumination of the lightings accentuate the centerpieces, the lights shined the surrounding walls make them look more like a fantasy. The service that Kevin provided was prompt and excellent. Many guests told me that they had never been to a wedding reception with the decorations this nice before. I would definitely recommend anyone who will have wedding reception to have Kevin takes care of the lighting, especially the value that Kevin provides.

DJ45rpm assisted us in planning the reception schedule and really impressed us with their DJ entertainment. DJ45rpm also provided video projection and laser lights that no one had ever seen before (they were a big hit). I feel that we got great value in DJ45rpm from a very reasonable price to professional quality service. A good friend paid $500 more for the DJ at her reception and she got a lot less. I highly recommend DJ45rpm wedding entertainment.

Kevin at DJ45 helped us through the enter reception planning process by providing a schedule planner and reviewing the plan with us. He played all the music that we requested and even played our own music. We are busy people and he contacted us several times to keep our planning on course.
