With less than a month before the wedding, the owner and sole operator of Euphoria Skin and Body Care, Laurie DePina backed out of the hair and makeup for my wedding with a ridiculous excuse, then turned around and told people we both know that I backed out on her. Unprofessional and disappointing. I had been a client of hers for about 2 years for waxing. When I told her I was getting married, she said she could do airbrush make-up for the bridal party ($100 per bridesmaid) and that she'd travel, and she could get another of her friends to do it with her. She said she'd worked with a couple of excellent hair stylists (about $100/bridesmaid) and she'd recruit them as well. Since I was unfamiliar with airbrush make-up, she offered to do a trial for me and any of the bridesmaids for $35. One bridesmaid kept calling to schedule a trial, and twice Laurie didn't return the call. I mentioned it to her at my monthly appointment, and Laurie said she must've left a message on the wrong machine, and that she'd try again. I thought nothing of it. Long story short, there was never a time when Laurie could make it, as she doesn't want to work weekends, and their schedules never matched up. I talked to Laurie about us all scheduling a time together and coming in, and she said great, and that would be easier. I left a message with her about the specifics of where we'd be on the wedding day, and proposed some dates for a trial. Next thing I know, less than a month before the wedding, she leaves me a voicemail that...... her hairdressers pulled out, and that she realized it was a lot of money and understood if we didn't want to go through with it, and that was all for the better anyway, because she has fibroids and surgery might be about the time of the wedding if they got worse.... Anyway, I got ahold of her on the phone and it was a rushed speech saying the same thing. I was floored. She sent me an e-mail later repeating the exact same thing. I was able to rush around and find replacements. I had pretty much put it behind me when I heard the day before my wedding that Laurie was telling people I backed out on her and that it was because of the bridesmaid that tried to get a trial. I was surprised...she recruited me, backed out on me, then she told people it's my fault. I'm so disappointed in her lack of professionalism. I will never return there.
