Great location for a traditional Asian 9 course banquet. VERY responsive restaurant owner. Room decor did not need to be planned, as the restaurant was beautiful enough, so the only decor we used was DIY floral centerpieces. Was able to change the number of tables/guests even up until the week before the wedding. They also went so far as to create a separate 9 course vegetarian menu for separate vegetarian tables.

Honestly, the food is good (10 course family style), the decor is great, but we kept getting different answers from them about various things regarding the reception dinner as the months went by. It's a chinese way of doing things, I think, but our contract was basically a bare-bones sheet of paper, and a copy of the menu. It didn't list everything out, and after requesting it, they said it wasn't necessary and wouldn't do it.

We got 2 tables of 12 instead of 3, the layout wasn't what we had originally discussed (verbally), got charged for 4 extra pieces of food for one dish (but then also got an extra plate of food for a vegetarian friend free), and almost got charged $3 more per bottle of wine (ended up being around $250). We also almost lost the date because they didn't write it down the first time we went and refused to sign a contract then. We came back, the date was still available...thank god...and forced them to sign a contract that night.

On the bright side, ALL tip and service were included (cake cutting and champagne pouring too), table numbers and menus provided, table linens, plates, utensils, napkins provided. However, them providing all the table linens meant we had to work w/ what they had, which also changed 3 months after we talked to them.

I would recommend this for brides that are used to the old school asian verbal agreement thing, and don't mind if a few things go wrong at the reception.

I helped coordinate a very low cost (under $3,000) wedding for my cousin. We used the Glenview mansion in Rockville for the ceremony site and held a luncheon reception at the Far East restaurant following the ceremony. We were worried about the quality of the food based off of some recent reviews. The first floor of the restaurant is lovely for weddings. So, the couple decided to try out the food and was surprised to find it very good. We reserved the date and worked with Stanley, who was very flexible with what we wanted. We reserved a section of the first floor with 6 tables of 10 and a cake and drink table to the side, and were permitted to use the front lobby to set up a table for placecards and for photographing the couple with guests. Since we had reserved a luncheon on a Friday, the total cost was very reasonable at about $41 per person including food, soda, champagne and taxes and tip. Parking is free, so that was not an issue. The only odd thing that happened was that the staff wouldn't serve the champagne until all the tables were cleared, even though we asked them several times. This resulted in many people leaving before the champagne toast and cake because they assumed the party was over since the tables were being cleared. Also, we were told that they had pink linens, so we had reserved use of pink chair bows from another source. The night before the reception, however, we found out that they only had red napkins, so we weren't able to use the pink chair bows because they would have clashed. We were a little disappointed about that. They did permit us to bring in the weddng cake (in separate boxes) the night before to store in the restaraunt refridgerator. And they did set up the gold charger plates that we brought in the night before.

Overall, this is an excellent place for a Chinese banquet wedding because the decor is very nice, the food is very good and reasonably priced, the location is convenient, and the parking free. The couple and their Chinese parents are very happy with the results.
