Laurie has become one of the top wedding planners in Southern California. Many of her weddings have graced the pages of “Inside Weddings”, “Southern California Bride”, “Bride and Bloom” as well as “Bride”. Laurie was recently showcased on the WE Channel’s “Platinum Weddings” where she coordinated Olympic Medalist Toby Dawson and Leah Gordon’s wedding at the Private Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California.
Laurie flat out spoils her clients. One bride who booked Laurie’s Royal Presidential Package, which included both Laurie and a personal assistant for the entire wedding weekend, felt totally pampered: “Laurie truly understands each person’s individual needs, and I was so impressed with all the details that she and her assistant were ready to handle. The wedding day especially was a work of perfection! They dealt with nine women and a two-year-old with great care and patience. And when we saw the way they had decorated our hotel room for our wedding night, it was so beautiful! Words can’t describe how special it was to have such great attention paid to so many things.”
Laurie’s clients also think she does a great job prioritizing. “I really appreciated her recommendations on what was important and what wasn’t to have a great celebration,” recalls another bride. “I know her advice saved us a lot of time and money.” Laurie says. “Every bride and groom have different styles and visions, I’m giving the fun job of creating fresh new ideas that will reflect their personalities, making it “A One of a Kind” event”. Laurie says her ethics and empathy are based on a deep spirituality. “The Lord has blessed me, and I like to pass those blessings on. I remind my clients to stay focused on the real meaning of their vows, and to not let the stresses of the day make them lose sight of the lifetime of committed partnership they’re about to enter.”
Laurie has been in the hospitality industry since 1981, and has been specializing in planning weddings and special events for the last sixteen years. Laurie is not only a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants; she has held the position of Co-Director of the Orange County Group for the last two years.
Having coordinated celebrations at such prestigious establishments as the Montage Resort, Ritz Carlton, Beverly Hills Hotel, and the St. Regis, she found it only fitting to name her company Five Star Weddings and Events. “It’s always been my philosophy that every bride and groom deserves the finest personal service I can give them.”
Laurie’s quickness and ability to anticipate is almost the stuff of legend among her peers. “She seems to be able to resolve problems before anyone else is aware that there is a potential problem,” says one videographer. She always tries to be one step ahead so that she can say, “its right here,” or “I’ve already taken care of it.” In fact, Laurie is so far ahead of the game she’s taken out the ultimate insurance: “I had myself ordained just in case the minister doesn’t show up,” she explains. “A professional coordinator must be open and ready for anything.”
