Gassane's was recommended to me by another bride, so I was surprised when I had such a terrible experience with them. I went in for common wedding dress alterations: add a bustle, add simple 1" straps/short sleeves, and bring the hem up. They only have one person who works on wedding dresses (Amal), and she only takes appointments M-F 9a-1p, so it was inconvenient with my work schedule.

Amal was very disorganized. She once forgot about a fitting, and I had to wait 15 minutes while she drove over to the store. Every time I went in for a fitting, she had forgotten to do at least one of the alterations I had asked for. She kept trying to minimize the amount of work done on the dress, instead of respecting what I wanted (she told me to just wear a shawl when I said I was uncomfortable without some sort of sleeve covering my shoulder; she told me to buy shoes with a higher heel so I wouldn't need the dress hemmed, even though I was wearing my Jimmy Choos I had already bought!).

I was only offered one option for the bustle. I'm not sure if this is because my train was somewhat long and heavy. However, it wasn't really a standard bustle; I can't even find a name for it online. She put a loop of sturdy thread at the top of the skirt (near my waist), and a metal hook on the underside of the end of the train. You flip the train around to hook the end of the train to the loop at the top. There weren't any additional points to keep the train flared out and pretty; it just kind of hung from that loop.

None of the alterations on the dress were done well. The sleeves kept falling off my shoulders during my bridal portrait, so my mom had to shorten them before the wedding day. The hem was too long, so I stepped on the front of my dress all day. When bustled, the back of the dress still dragged on the floor. I had to be re-bustled every time I sat down because the hook came undone.
