Though Gino's is a beautiful place, and as a guest our wedding reception looked great, as the bride I was WAY less than impressed. I was appalled by the length of time it took them to clean up the construction site they called their venue. The owner, Frank, is full of lies to tell you what you want to hear and get you signed up. Then, when you start planning your day, giving them all the money you have, and imagining it he starts telling the truth. The construction won't be done when he said it would, the parking lot will stay like a mine field even though you have elderly people hobbling through, the grass will be dead and brown no matter how many times you ask them to fertilize.....

This place on the inside is gorgeous. It's open and airy and full of light, but the rest of it is in shambles. They didn't even have our food out in time to eat, we all lined up to empty containers, and the dessert table, which we paid $4.00 a person, times 300 guests for, had enough dessert for 50 people, not 300!

I would only suggest you go to Gino's after all the construction is 100% done, and even then, be aware that if it sounds to good to be true then it is. My one request was to not have a tractor in the background of my wedding ceremony, guess what shows up in every picture....A big yellow back hoe!

For my husband's bachelor party they headed to a Tiger's game at Comerica Park. Then they went out to party at Gino's Surf. They didnt rent a hall at Gino surf rather just enjoyed their tiki style bar. The staff was very friendly the drinks were a bit expensive but that was expected.

Gino's has made some wonderful improvements to their facilities. I fell in love with their panoramic views of Lake St. Clair in their reception hall, and their outdoor tiki environment went perfect with my wedding theme. My husband and I were married under their huge gazebo with 150+ friends and family gathered. The food was spectacular and the service was above average. My only warning to future brides considering Gino's is to be careful of what Gino's promises up front. They will tell you that they can do anything you possibly want, but when it comes down to it, that just isn't true. We wanted to bring in our own wine to have on the tables and was originally told that we could, but found out that their license wouldn't allow it. Try to dive into the logistics of the day sooner than later so that everyone is on the same page. Overall, I would recommend having your wedding or other event at Gino's. The view alone is worth it!

Horrible venue for a wedding reception. The only good thing was the food and the actual physical location (on the water). Frank SR, along with many of their other staff members tried to change the price per plate multiple times and overcharged us for things such as colored napkins (which then--he didn't order the right color-- asked for hot pink and he ordered light pink and then argued with us on our wedding day that it was hot pink). We booked over a year in advance and they raised their prices and tried to charge us the new price.

The Tiki bar situation is an absolute nightmare.. people coming in and out with no security. Your guests will wander over there and there will be no one at your reception because the bar inside closes at 12am. The staff pushes your guests and the wedding party over the Tiki bar after your reception- very awkward.. considering we're in our 20's and the crowd over there is mid 40's??

The staff at Gino's also try to jip you outta an hour of your reception time-- make sure you tell them you want to stay til 1am.. they tell you that you'll need the extra hour to "clean up" and try to push you over to the Tiki bar after.

Do not book this location.

Location is the best part of the venue. Dealing with Gina is the worst part. She has a horrible attitude, is not flexible at all and has no intention of making you happy after the money is collected. She does return phone calls. Rehearsal time was moved without notice and we upgraded bar and they negelected to have upgrade until we said something. Everything is NO
