My mother, sister and I shopped on October 3rd, 2014. Not only did they immediately understand what I wanted, they understood me as a person and took all of my preferences into account. Furthermore, they helped my sister try on a couple wedding dresses amidst other clients being helped at the same time. The best part was, a bride had left "my dress" to come back in an hour, my sales representative waited in the wings until she left, then pulled that dress for me to try on because I loved it so much. I walked out with that very dress about 30 minutes later.

I bought a beautiful dress from Glamour Closet. My experience was fine, but I did wish the staff would have been a little more attentive. Maybe they assumed I wanted space, but it would have been nice for them to check in a little bit more with me and maybe help guide me. A lot of the dresses were not in the best shape (snagged, ripped, etc). I was lucky that my dress had just gotten in that morning so it was still in very good shape. I did get a great deal ($700 on a formerly $1,200 dress). I would recommend the place, but I know it can be hit or miss. I have known several people to get beautiful dresses there though.

I went to Glamour Closet by myself, not expecting to buy a dress but to try on different brands and styles. You cannot make an appointment, but I only waited a few minutes before I was able to peruse the store and mark dresses I wanted to try on. In my head, I had decided on a particular style of dress I wanted, and all of the dresses I chose were very similar. However, the woman who helped me insisted that I try on at least one full, A-line ball gown, which she thought would suit me perfectly. She was right. I fell in love with the dress she picked out, which also happened to be 70% off the original price and did not need any alterations. A perfect experience.

Glamour Closet is a bridal salon which limits its sales to showroom floor and runway sample gowns from the highest end wedding dress designers.

Hannah and Marietta are absolutely wonderful bridal consultants.

PRO TIPS

Glamour Closet, despite advertising 30-75% off designer samples, is not a "budget" bridal salon. Dresses here typically start at $2500. If your budget is under $1,000, it's not worth a visit. (I also noticed that, the less expensive the gown, the worse the condition.) Most gowns are closer to 25-50% off - it is rare to find a dress at 75% off here. Don't expect to come in and find a 5k dress for $500. Take a look a the price tag before you clip a gown. The dress you fall in love with on the racks may very well be $5,000-$7,000, even at a discount.

Glamour Closet only carries dresses in sample sizes - bridal sizes 8 and 10 (the equivalent of street sizes 4 and 6) - with very few exceptions. I first visited the salon as a street size 12, and there was really nothing for me. I returned later as a street size 8 only to find that I still had very limited options. (Bridal size 10 - street size 6 - is the most common sample size.) As wedding dresses generally cannot be sized up, or sized down more than a couple of sizes, if you are significantly larger or smaller than a sample size it is probably not worth a visit.

Keep in mind that most of the gowns at Glamour Closet will require $500-$1000 in professional dry cleaning, alterations and/or restoration.

Be aware that you can rent or purchase similar wedding dresses from Borrowing Magnolia for much less than the prices of gowns at Glamour Closet.

I shopped here on 2/18/15. I showed up at opening, was able to park right out front on the street, and got help immediately. I intended to go try on a variety of gowns so that I could get a better handle on what looked good on my body and what I could afford.

Here's how it works. You go in, you sign some papers to get your contact info, and then you get a baggie of clips. They explain street sizes vs bridal sizes (Hint: you'll have to deal with a bigger number), and how their pricing works--each tag shows the retail price and their price so you can gauge how good of a deal you're getting. All the dresses are new in the sense that they've never been worn at a wedding before, but most of them are samples, so dozens of people have tried them on in other salons. Since samples see some wear and tear, be sure to carefully inspect any gown you consider purchasing for damage. You take your clips and go through the store, which I believe is organized by silhouette. You put a clip on the hanger of any dress you want to try on. Then an associate will take the dresses you choose to a dressing room. You get a bathrobe, and you try on each dress. This is a little different than other bridal salons in the dress you try on is the dress you'll take home. So try to find the best fit you can to save on alteration expenses. Once you exhaust your first selection, you repeat the process.

The way I did it is I kept a top 3 running in my dressing room. This method worked fantastically. I tried on 9 dresses worth showing my mom who came with me, and probably about 10 others that didn't make it out of the dressing room.

I saw dresses for as low as probably $600 to $5000 and up, they have a wide selection. They also had 2 "plus size" racks, which would probably fit girls about street size 14-18.

I definitely recommend this place to brides who want a bargain, but especially to brides who have NO CLUE what they wanted, like I did!

I arrived at the store 15 minutes prior to opening today hoping to be able to sign on the wait list so that I wouldn't be late to my other appointment. You can only be on a wait list and not do call-ahead appointments. Amber was at the desk and she was very busy playing on her phone. I talked to her through the glass and asked if I could sign in. She said wait until we open. I said I have another appointment when the store opens down the street so she told me to come by and sign up after that. She was s bit rude with her approach and blew me off. Definitely not the kind of attitude you anticipate when you lay down $1000+.

As I was attending my other appointment my friend signed me up. We returned at our suggested time (never did get the call for the timeframe they said they'd call) and she said, "Hi again," and gave me the rundown, then disappeared. I wasn't that amazed by the selection and the prices seemed reflective of any other bridal store I went to with brand new dresses. So we ended up just leaving. I didn't appreciate the attitude and I heard that some people who work at this store (maybe Amber?) leave negative reviews for other local bridal stores. That's just not cool.

All this being said, people do find their dresses here often. I just did not have a positive experience. To note, these dresses are sample dresses, so they'd been tried on a lot. They aren't "used," but they are demoed. Know this going in.

I purchased the Vera Wang gemma gown here and I love it. I had been to nearly every bridal salon in LA before coming here. The gown is a sample of course, so it was very damaged. But I believe it was a pretty good deal.

I bought my dress at Glamour Closet and I was really happy with it in the end. The idea is that you either buy it on the spot or it probably won't be there. I came here to shop and was disappointed with the dresses I saw, but picked a couple to try on anyway. They didn't work out and the person assisting me brought in another dress to try. She pinned it carefully and it looked fantastic. I was thrilled and my friends said it looked great. I wasn't sure, but I was scared to lose the dress, so I quickly took it. I was thrilled at first, but that quickly faded when I realized the reason I didn't try that dress to begin with is because 2 of me could easily fit in it. I had to do a lot of research to find a very talented seamstress who could take the dress in that much. Then, another seamstress pointed out to me that the cups were uneven. The dress was a sample, so it was also a bit dirty and some of the beads were coming off. To top it all off, the top was see through, which I thought I could easily fix, but turned into a big headache. I also learned, while looking the dress up online, that it was supposed to come with a belt, but I guess the store lost it. I got another belt from them for free, but it also required cleaning. The store is a great place to go and you can find some great deals there, but don't rush a decision just because you see cheap prices. Step aside and think about it before buying a dress.

I recently purchased a dress for my wedding in just a few months. Jane made my experience absolutely enjoyable and unforgettable, and I will have the memory of finding my dream dress forever!
I visited the store during a very busy hour on a Sunday afternoon, and Jane was nothing but gracious to me during the entire process while still offering an honest, unbiased opinion. I came to the salon on a whim by myself, and Jane assisted me in taking as many pictures to send to my mother and the bridal party as my heart desired, and even helped me when I FaceTimed my mother and Maid of Honor. I would highly recommend Glamour Closet to any of my friends with an upcoming wedding, and I was so pleasantly surprised by the experience.

It took awhile for me to work out the logistics of purchasing my dream dress, and the store gave me as much time to contemplate my decision as needed. Lastly, they have fabulous gowns of every style that can work on every body type, and I brought home a dress that I never would have dreamed of purchasing at cost for 1/3 of the price.

I purchased my wedding gown at Glamour Closet. It was a beautiful dress for under $1,000. The gal that helped me was extremely professional, patient, and was flexible to let me try on a few dresses several times. Once I chose "the dress" she was honest about the damage on the dress and referred me to one of their partners to do the work. I went to their referred vendor and was extremely happy. Alterations and some repairs were under $600 with an added bustle. I could not be more happy with Glamour Closet. Should I have decided to go somewhere else, my gown would have been $2900 + alterations and bustle. I ended up spending around $1700 for the entire thing. Happy Bride here.
