This is an extremely beautiful resort with lots to offer. Red Level services were great and Karina in the Red Level lounge was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. When I needed other services, Ashley at the front desk was also available and helpful. The workers in the restaurants were welcoming and the food was nicely prepared, from the breakfast buffet to the restaurants on site. I would recommend this location.

This resort was simply magical for my family and I! I traveled from Houston Texas with a total of 50 guests in which they are all still talking about how beautiful the grounds were. The staff is extremely accommodating especially Joel, Nilda, Joshua, Rafy, Karina and I am sure I have left out someone but these were on my TOP List of JOB WELL DONE. My suggestion for future brides is you must have Red Level Service!! It is a must for you and all guests. On your Wedding Night I recommend the Ocean Front Villa...OMG. Beautiful. Also when booking the Gran Melia Hotel for you wedding contact Marlyn Monet from Creative Events to Coordinate your wedding from start to finish. She is the icing on the cake and will make sure you are taken care of. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE!

Based on the pictures and the price, we knew that Gran Melia was the best option. From the beginning, Melissa Ortiz was a thorn in my side BUT I am also obsessive. I want things done when I ask…no excuses about it. Since this was my big day (and hopefully my ONLY wedding) I expected her to have the same enthusiasm and sense of urgency. We hired an agent to facilitate the travel arrangements for our guests and I used him as a liaison because I was frustrated with Melissa early in the process. If your budget allows, I EXTREMELY suggest hiring a wedding planner/coordinator (Tropical Weddings) It will make your life a lot of easier!!! The day we arrived, I was thrilled that the pictures on the internet were not photo shopped:-) Actually, the pictures do not serve justice…it is MORE beautiful! We had a meeting with Melissa 72 hours prior to the wedding to finalize details. I read all the fine print prior to our arrivial therefore I had all of my outside vendors lined up (decorator, flowers, DJ, DJ equipment, photographer, rentals, videographer) We added an open bar and I substituted the wedding cake for cookies & strawberries (previous reviews state the included cake is awful). The process to obtain our marriage license was painless. Transportation and fees are included in the package. If you anticipate more than 30 guests then this resort probably isn’t the best option. The wedding package upgraded us to Red Level which was a bonus! It included FREE breakfast, access to the Red Level lounge for daily cocktails and appetizers, and butlers. The butlers came in handy on our wedding day because I had them transport things back and forth to the ceremony and reception location. The night of the wedding we arrived to our room with scattered rose petals, candles, and soft music playing. All in all, we are now married and our wedding was simply amazing. Our guests cannot stop talking about the trip and the ambience.

I had my wedding during Hurricane Issac. The staff at the Gran Melia Resort was amazing! I flew in on Tuesday and from the second I enter the resort everyone was really nice and very helpful. Our rehearsal dinner location decided to close due to the storm and the resort accommodated us by having it at the resort since we couldn't go anywhere due to the storm. They charged us the same price as the place we were going to go out in town and the food was amazing. It was Puerto Rican food buffet style which was what I wanted so my friends could to try my local cuisine. The day of the wedding also was amazing. Even though my dream was to have it outside, the indoor space that was available to me was just as beautiful. The ballroom faced the ocean so I still had that amazing view. The resort is remarkable and in my opinion the nicest decorated and maintain resort in Puerto Rico and trust me when I went there a year before to look at locations nothing came close to the Gran Melia's elegance. The one thing is that if you would like to have a wedding here be prepared to pay a good amount of money for it. I had 30 guest attend my wedding. I would also like to thank Melissa from the event staff who helped me so much from the states. I am native born Puerto Rican who's father was in the Navy so I grew up in and out of PR. My dream was always to get married back home and living in Florida and doing a destination wedding at times felt like a nightmare. Melissa was always prompt with her email responses and honest when it came to selecting things that I may or may not need.

When my husband and I decided to get married in Puerto Rico we chose Gran Melia because the photos looked amazing. Also compared to other resorts they were the least expensive. At first they were extremely helpful, once we decided to sign a contract and paid 50% as required the responsiveness stopped. We always had to reach out to them. It was quite annoying that no one sent at least an email to say "hey how's everything going?". When questions were asked they weren't answered clearly. We understood that during dinner selections our invitees could choose what they wanted. We found out 2 weeks prior that we had to choose one entree selection for all with the exception of food allergies!!! Ridiculous. We were paying 7K for only one entree selection and I didn't create place cards!!! I made a big stink and hot to choose between 2 food options but found myself creating place cards 3 days before the wedding to say who was eating what because they were only making a selected amount. An open bar cost $800 xtra which was failed to be mentioned as well. and decorations were not included at all which led us to hire a wedding decorator which cost an additional 2K. The wedding coordinator Gran Melia gave us as part of the package sucked big time and I complained about it early on and asked for another coordinator. They refused and said to just keep them in the loop with emails as to what was going on. In the end the wedding was a success but much more money that we expected to pay. The wedding contact at Gran Melia Melissa Ortiz is terrible at her job and should be fired. My guests had to walk a long walk to get to the beach ceremony and she didn't even arrange trolley's, which the resort has to get them to the location. My elderly mother in law had to walk!!!! insane. Although a beautiful resort, for the price we paid we could've gotten married in San Juan with better service!
