Not only is the chapel at Greenmead Historical Village beautiful, having our ceremony there was a STEAL for what we got! There were two Greenmead associates present for the rehearsal and on the wedding day, who served as wedding planners--helping to coordinate between the officiant and the organ player (that’s right, organ player. The church has an old pipe organ!), seating guests, ensuring that the wedding party was in the right place at the right time. I didn’t anticipate the importance of someone acting as a mediator, which is why I didn’t hired a wedding planner at the start. Greenmead Historical Village made a separate wedding planner unnecessary for us, which is a perk I didn’t anticipate needing before the wedding by am so thankful for now! If you’re thinking of having your ceremony at the chapel, go check it out! You’ll fall in love with its stark lines, the pipe organ, the wooden pews, the beautiful grounds—and once you book, relax—the folks at Greenmead will take care of you on your big day!

The Greenmead chapel is beautiful! We originally stumbled because we were looking for a indoor ceremony location, but we had already decided to do the reception at The Inn at St. Johns and most places wanted to combine the ceremony and reception. Neither my groom or I are religious and being that the wedding was January 31st, we couldn't plan on doing it at a park or gazebo or something like that, so we started looking for indoor options. We came across Greenmead and I fell in love instantly. It is beautiful on the inside! Simple, yet beautiful. I only decorated it with baby's breath and a few burlap bows and garland, and that was nice. It is perfect on its own and does not need too much extra! The ladies were a breeze to work with. Maureen was always helpful when I had a question and allowed me to stop in several different times to check it out and measure a few things. The voluteers that helped up that day, Peggy and Barney, were so nice and sweet and kept things moving according to plan. I would recommend Greenmead to anyone!

Greenmead is the hidden gem of Livonia! It's the perfect place to get married, especially if you're after a historic/vintage feel. The park is stunning no matter what time of year, and the church is great for a more intimate wedding. I held both my ceremony (in Newburg Methodist Church) and reception (in the Alexander Blue House) at Greenmead and the night was perfect. Guests loved how romantic and "quaint" my wedding was and everyone had a great time!!

Greenmead's staff is amazing. All of the ladies are wonderful and made everything run smooth with no bumps at all! There are quite a few rules because it's a historical site, but Maureen (the new coordinator) does whatever she can to make your day everything you want it to be. She had great ideas and made my planning experience so easy and painless!

I would highly recommend getting married here!!!

Greenmead's Newburg Church was the PERFECT location to have our ceremony. They run a tight ship there, which is fine by me and the ladies were a wonderful help the day-of our wedding and at the rehearsal. We received SO many compliments about how intimate the church was and about how great the Village itself was--particularly because 75% of our guests were from out-of-town.

So far everything leading up to the day had been satisfactory. My only gripe was that the one person there who handles the rental of the church is only available on certain days and times, and NO ONE else who answers the phone will touch it. You *have* to talk to Marcia. Marcia had gotten a little sharp and short with me over the phone quite a few times, but not outright rude. In person she has seemed more pleasant, though we only met with her one time. However, our rehearsal was handled by Maureen and Ginny. They were really great!

On the wedding day, Maureen and Ginny were there again and did great, again. I was really relieved that neither of them were sharp or short and they handled our wedding with care and attention. I got many compliments on how cute and intimate the church was. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller ceremony site (approx 100 people or under), provided you can get past the whole Marcia thing. My advice is just to stand your ground and don't allow anyone to intimidate you or treat you like a 5-year old school student which is what I felt she was doing. It wasn't absolutely horrible, but it wasn't pleasant either. I give the grade mainly due to that, otherwise it would have been an A+.
