After visiting several bridal shops in Puerto Rico and did not find a costume that you love me. I decided to travel to CT. Laura is the sweetest and caring person who has attended me in the search for my wedding dress. Many wedding dresses she looking for me. All beautiful, with lots of patience I hope to take my picture and call a friend for facetime to see me dressed. In no time I felt pressured to decide who would buy wedding dress. I had time alone with my friend to decide who was going to do. I bought my wedding dress and crown. Happy with my wedding dress and the excellent service that was receiving.

Being new to CT, Harold's was recommended to me by a friend and I had heard they had a wonderful reputation. The day I went to find my dress was not too bad. The sale's clerks were all friendly and I quickly found my dress. Even after having doubts a few days later, they allowed me to come in and helped me try my dress on again to remind me how much I loved it. The problems all started when the dress arrived and I needed to have it altered. First of all it, it was huge. It was commented to me that I must have lost a lot of weight, which I hadn't. I had spent way more on the dress than I had budgeted and didn't want to spend a lot in alterations. I was very careful not to lose weight. I started having doubts when the seamstress kept mentioning that she had no idea what to do with my dress and she seemed annoyed with the boning in my dress. The sales woman had to come help her with how to make the bustle. This was only the start. The day my dress was supposed to be ready, it wasn't and I had to come back the week of the wedding. On that day things were fine. I needed a few quick alterations that were done immediately. The day of the wedding, the dress looked beautiful and I was happy. When I realized the bustle wouldn't hold and the dress was way too long, I was very unhappy. I slipped on my dress all night long. About 3/4 of the way into the wedding, the rhinestone belt that I had paid extra for, starting falling off. It was very upsetting. All-in-all, I would recommend buying your dress from Harold's if you find something you fall in love with, but I would not recommend their alteration services.

I purchased my wedding gown from Harold's in October of 2013. After extensive measurements they finally ordered my gown. It came in three weeks late and was the wrong size. I could not zip it past my lower back. That wasn't the only problem. There were two gaping holes where they removed breast pads and decided to not stitch them back up. They had to put a rush order on a 2nd dress and that one finally came in about 3 weeks before my wedding. I had about 6 different fittings causing me to waste a lot of time and gas with frequent trips to New Haven. The seamstress was extremely rude and would not take the dress in where I wanted it taken in. After several wasted trips to Harold's for fittings and to sew a sash on the dress, I finally picked my gown up three days ago as my wedding is in exactly six days. I brought the dress home, took it out of the bag as directed only to find a dress full of STAINS, WRINKLES, and FILTH. The train has a stain the size of a half dollar, the armits are completely filthy, and there are dirt streaks EVERYWHERE. There are a few mysterious pink spots on my ivory gown as well. I have contacted Harold's through different forms of media only to be ignored. They have not responded or taken care of this matter. Again, my wedding is in SIX days and my gown that everyone will watch me walk down the aisle in, is filthy. The dress 1000% looks as if it was worn, celebrated in, and put back on the hanger. I am beyond furious, disgusted, and a nervous wreck as I have NO time to get this matter fixed and Harold's is NOT responding to my calls, emails, or social media messages. I want my $950.00 back from this inconveinence, stress, and anxiety this store has caused. They should be shut down immediately.

I wont go back there or suggest anyone going there. The place is out dated and dirty, pretty expensive and the when i was getting measured instead of going with my waistline they pinch in more so i lost an inch and ordered a dress size that was two sizes to small! So now i have to try to exchange it but with their hours it is impossible! They need to be open later and on Sundays.

Harolds is by far the best!! I attended 2 weddings this year and have a wedding to attend next year all my work is done here!! These women are so nice and charismatic it's crazy! From being there once they never forgot my name! I am so short and could not believe how great of a job the seamstress did with my hems! I also bought one of the dresses from davids and a tux off online Harolds took them 2 weeks before the wedding and got the work done great and only charged me 80 dollars for my dress and my tux she did for free and when I asked them why the women told me because they noticed how much I've been buying for all these weddings they wanted to give me a break I was in awe! Not only would any other store not remember me they definitely wouldn't cut money off!! These girls are professional, nice, do great work, and know what their talking about! I would HIGHLY recommend them!!

I found my dress in Florida and went on line to see which stores in CT would have it. There were two stores that could possibly obtain it for me. One store told me I had to purchase it prior to seeing if the size fit, the other store was Harolds in New Haven, and Lisa, the owner of Harolds went out of her way to obtain the dress for me without a cost. From the beginning of the process to the end, all of her staff were very professional and accommodating. I had my alterations done by Louisa and she was terrific, and even purchased my shoes from them. The match to my dress was perfection.
I am the mother of the groom and could not be more pleased with the service I have received, in addition,
If you are a bride, looking for a dress, I would make Harolds my first stop!

Never ever go here!!!! They are the most unprofessional bridal shop there is. Their seamstress ruined my expensive Mother of the Bride gown. She cut my lining free hand and when I asked her what she was doing, she responded "Oh, you want the train? Why would I purchase a dress with a train if I didn't want it. She also could not figure out how to hem it which is why she was cutting it. My daughter also purchased her gown there. She was taking it all in on the sides which would have taken half of the beading off. She proceeded to tell us never to come late at night again, she was too tired to work then. That's my fault that I was given a late night appointment. She proceeded to go upstairs to another seamstress and yell that she needed her help downstairs where we were so she could figure out how to do it. She needed her fast because she had to go home. I did not sleep that night. I ended up having to go to another seamstress for alterations because this one obviously had no idea what she was doing. They also dyed my shoes the wrong color. They had to reorder them. When my daughter went to pick them up, they proceeded to tell me I owed them money for shoes. I then proceeded to tell the owner LISA that I wanted to be reimbursed for the gown alterations that needed to be fixed because her seamstress ruined the lining. She told me I was being uncooperative and she would not give me my shoes unless we paid for the other shoes. I am uncooperative???? This bridal salon should be shut down because of the unprofessional ism and mistakes they constantly make. If you go there, you will be sorry because the owner LISA does not even care that her seamstress ruins what you purchase from them Don't say I didn't warn you if you decide to go there!!!!!

I wish I had as many nice things to say as everyone else on this forum but I did not have the best experience at Harold's. I bought my wedding dress there and decided it would be nice to get my bridesmaid's dresses and the guy's tuxs there as well. We chose the bridesmaids dresses based on the style, but more specifically the color that worked perfectly with a champagne waist band that was part of my dress. My girls paid for their dresses and they were supposedly ordered, only to find out two weeks later that the dress company no longer made that dress in the color we chose. After learning about this, I wasn't sure why they were using outdated catalogues to order a dress for July 2012 when it was the last week of December 2011. Moreover, I was actually shocked when I received no apology from the owner, nor any form of a discount for the inconvenience.

As far as my dress goes, I was measured for wearing 2 inch heels, yet my dress came in two inches long. The seamstress pinned me to fix the problem, told me to come back in a week and a half and everything would be fixed. I just went today and she had no recollection of the incident happening at all. At that point I asked for the owner and for a second time of being inconvenienced, received no apology whatsoever other than, "She can't remember what happened!" (the seamstess) "Come back on Saturday!" I'm guessing that I still won't be compensated for yet another inconvenience.

I have to say that many people go here and it must be for the prices. I personally was not impressed by the customer service that I have received from the owners, not to mention the extremely outdated and dirty decor. The icing on the cake is that I found out a week and a half ago that they will be closing for vacation, conveniently for nine days, beginning the week before my wedding. We received no phone call to inform us of this with adequate notice(particularly for the tux rentals) and the only reason I even knew this was because I had made the appt. to fix the length of my dress. I'm trying to make the best of this but if I could do this over again, I would have walked right back out the door and gone somewhere else!
