I had the most awful experience at Harriet Kassman. Even now, months later, I can hardly talk about it without breaking out into hives, I'm still so mad. Its a very long story and I'm giving the watered down version! Essentially we were given a "bait and switch" which led to an all out disaster. I was charged for things I didn't agree to and then not refunded the money. The process involved weeks of calling and being told that the refund had been processed but it takes a few days for the money to show up in your account again. After a month, I finally called and demanded they stop blowing me off and take care of the refund. Not only had they never processed the refund (which meant they lied about it on the phone all those times) but that day the business manager/owner's son double charged me instead of hitting refund. When I saw the charge (which nearly took out my whole checking account), I flipped out and called the store immediately. Harriet Kassman told me that her son would never do that and that he was gone for the day and there was nothing she could do. She told me I must be confused and that I had probably been in that day shopping and just forgot. How many people forget that they went shopping and spent the exact amount they were waiting to be reimbursed (over $1000)?!? Also, its hard to be shopping at a store in Friendship Heights, MD when you've been at your desk working all day. My parents and I took off work the following morning to meet with this "business manager" since he would not return our phone calls. He wouldn't even look us in the face and he refused to accept responsibility for the whole situation- not refunding the money to start with and then double charging me. I had spoken to my bank and credit card company and they gave me a quick fix solution if the store would just release their merchant ID number and some other information. He wouldn't give me a chance to speak and tell him about the solution and just insisted it wasn't his fault. He also said there was something that "might work" which involved him sitting in his office for 45 minutes while sat on the couch waiting. When I finally got a word in...I asked him kindly to look me in the face when he spoke to me and told him to please try this "quick fix." What do you know...it worked and the double charge was taken off immediately although the initial charge took a few days to be refunded. I then asked the man why he treated us so badly, why he so clearly lied, why he didn't accept responsibility. He blew up at me and said, "What do you want me to say? Do you want me to say I'm a terrible person? Should I go home and kill myself?" I was absolutely fuming...what happened to the customer is always right? These people are the absolute scum of the earth.

You can see from my other reviews, I am not a critical person. I generally have positive experiences working with people. I have worked retail myself and know a little bit about customer service. This was unlike anything I'd ever been through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone else. Buying a wedding dress should be a positive experience. Please do not chance it with a trip to Harriet Kassman.

This is a difficult review for me to write. I purchased a gorgeous Romona Keveza gown from Harriet Kassman as a sample so I got a great deal. Harriet Kassman is a beautiful bridal salon and I always felt that I received alot of attention from the staff. I had been searching for this dress for 6 months and I was thrilled. The dress needed alterations (obviously) and I felt the alterations staff was responsive and professional. I did express anxiety that the dress was not tight enough in the bust and I felt it was drooping a bit as I moved around in the dress, but the staff repeatedly assured me that it was in my head and it looked great. I had them put in a bustle as well-- we had 5 fittings total for the dress. However, on the day of the wedding, the dress did fall in the front as the day went along. I felt like I was constantly tugging it up, and in the pictures, I can see that it was DEFINITELY sliding down. I can say it was the most stressful part of my wedding day. There was only 1 week between my last fitting and the wedding so it wasn't like I had lost significant weight or anything. The bustle tore out of the dress before pictures were even over-- I had not danced yet, only stood in 3 positions with family, grandparents, etc switching in and out. When I started dancing, my wedding planner had to safety pin the train up the back of the dress and safety pin together the sides of the bust so it wouldn't totally fall down. I can't give them the highest review because I felt like my concerns about the dress had been ignored by the staff. However, the dress was gorgeous and the other alterations they did were perfect so it might have just been this dress.
