The Heritage Square is such a lovely museum and an excellent wedding venue. We had our ceremony and reception there and loved it! It is a good price and your money goes towards a great cause, it's beautiful and doesn't need a lot of extra decorations and it is so unique and special! We have received so many compliments on our venue and people loved finding this hidden gem and getting transported to a special little blast of the past! You do have to bring in all of your own supplies (catering, lighting, a generator, rentals, etc) which can be a bit of a headache but it is worth it to have such a lovely and unique wedding venue! The staff were very nice and helpful and answered months and months of questions and worked with our needs. You can even get costumed docents to give tours to your guests! Such an amazing museum experience and an awesome venue for a good price!

We had both our ceremony and reception at Heritage Square Museum - and it was nothing short of spectacular. I can't say enough about this place. First of all, the setting: it's stunningly beautiful. Heritage Square Museum (not to be confused with Heritage House in Santa Monica) is the site of several rescued and restored historic homes and other buildings from Los Angeles. The homes are incredible both inside and out. The site is set up as a sort of little cul de sac, with homes on both sides of a grassy lane (a little gravel path runs through the middle), a restored train station, box car, a historic church and one of the only remaining "Octagon" homes still standing. The buildings are almost all restored inside and out, and the colors they are painted just on the outside provided an unbelievable backdrop to our wedding. Our wedding was in late May, and the rose garden was in full bloom, the sun shone brightly off the gorgeous historic homes. We did the ceremony under the big sycamore tree facing away from the historic church (sorry, we're Jewish!), and the reception out on the big lawn by the restored train station. Everything was bright, colorful and had the feeling of a vintagey country fair to it (we were aiming for informal). To be fair, this place could EASILY take on a formal wedding - the setting is absolutely right for that as well - and any sort of historic/period-y wedding would be unbelievable here. Second, the staff: I have to say that the staff at Heritage Square was beyond a treat to work with. They were incredibly consistent in answering all our questions, no matter how many we had, and wonderfully accommodating whenever we wanted to do something that they hadn't done before. My husband and I are barbecue addicts, and Brian and the rest of the staff at HSM were awesome in letting us drive in a barbecue truck, and smoking the meat right on the premises! Despite the fact that the museum would be open, the staff allowed us to show up bright and early to set up, and helped us out at every stage. They even allowed us to bring the bulk of our set-up stuff the day before and store it in one of the back rooms of the homes, which was incredibly helpful (we had a very DIY wedding). Basically, any time we had a question, it was answered, accommodated, and usually helped out with. Staff at HSM even helped us schlep in cases of soda and all sorts of stuff from our cars! Extras: The coolest thing EVER was that for an incredibly small fee (I think it was a total of $50 or something), HSM made costumed docents available during our cocktail hour to give tours of the historic homes. People LOVED that. I loved that! They were also super-sweet about giving us time to clean up, set up, etc. Good to know: HSM is inexpensive, gorgeous, and you're supporting an amazing nonprofit and important conservation project when you have your wedding there. That said, it's important to note that you really need to be ok with bringing in EVERYTHING - generators, dance floor, tables, chairs, linens, everything. We got everything from Unique Rentals in Glendale (including gorgeous vintage-looking lampposts) and Sir Michael's in Eagle Rock, and had no problem with any of it. Everything came in on time and set up easily - again, with the amazing help from HSM staff. Seriously, just have your wedding at this place so you can work with the most helpful people ever.

We just booked Heritage Square for our wedding next year. I am so excited to work with them! This is a little hidden gem of a location in Los Angeles and the venue fee goes towards restoring the houses on the property, which is fantastic! I love that you are able to select all of your own vendors unlike many other venues that force you to use their caterer or their rental companies, etc. This is really a good location for a DIY bride!
