The property was settled in 1853 as the first historical landmark of Riverside County, and served as a stage coach stop along the route of a young Wyatt Earp from San Bernardino to La Paz. The resort was a popular leisure spot for celebrities in the 1930s and 1940s as well as a favorite of Albert Einstein. Our 1100 year old oak tree and our grove of 300 olive trees offer a unique combination of history and the outdoors. Guest rooms, bridal suite, swimming pool, organic farm, restaurant and 2400 acres of hiking trails.

My wedding was the most important day of my life thus far and Highland Springs Resort help make this day very memorable. Helen was very nice, helpful and always easy to get in contact with. If she wasn't able to speak when I called she would always call back quickly and email responses were very quick also. The venue is gorgeous. My husband and I were married under the old oak tree and it was magical. We had our reception at the great lawn and everything went off without a hitch. Helen was there checking in with us throughout the whole day making sure we were taken care of. All of the staff; waiters, bar tenders, etc. were great! We also had our rehearsal dinner and morning after breakfast with our wedding party at the resort and both were also fabulous. My only complaint is that the resort is basically shuts down if there is not an event going on. We decided to stay one more night at the resort after our wedding so we didn't have to check out the morning after. But that night the resort was shut down. No receptionist, no housekeeping, the restaurant and bar were closed and when you called the resort you got a calling service that knew nothing about there hours of operations and what was and wasn't opened. Other than that this venue is great and very reasonably priced. My husband and I were very pleased and love Highland Springs.

My wedding was the most important day of my life thus far and Highland Springs Resort help make this day very memorable. Helen was very nice, helpful and always easy to get in contact with. Our wedding at HSR was gorgeous! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone envisioning their event with a high-class, and elegant woodland feel! We had a fantastic and personal experience here at Highland Springs. The venue was flexible enough to meet all our needs from the rehearsal dinner/bonfire, through the wedding ceremony and reception. They smoothly accommodated a last minute location change due to weather making sure to take care of us every step of the way. Our guests each commented on how nice their experience was staying at Highland Springs seeing the lavender fields and farm animals.

We had a fantastic and personal experience here at Highland Springs. The venue was flexible enough to meet all our needs from the rehearsal dinner/bonfire, through the wedding ceremony and reception. Once you see this place it is either what you had in your head or not. From the moment I stepped onto the property it was always where we wanted the wedding. This is a wonderful value for a beautiful, unique, quirky, fabulous outdoor wedding. They are still ironing out some logistics, but if you can hang in there with them, they are the nicest and also most flexible people, allowing you to use their venue to create your perfect day - the setting is amazing, the oak tree unbelievable, and the restaurant/banquet room/bar also beautiful and full of history and charm. I think they might need to hire a few more lodge staff for planning and coordinating rooms and check-in, but I think they are working on this. In the end, it was really quite a good value with AMAZING food (that is THE THING here as well) for the SoCal area! I love it there. I really really do. Magical place. HSR is great - but only is this is the kind of venue you want! If you want an casual, relaxed, beautiful location, an outdoor ceremony and reception, historic provenance, terrific food, and plenty of onsite lodging, then Highland Springs could be just right. If you want to be incredibly organized, if you want formality, if you want answers to your questions on the same day, and a flawless execution down to the last detail, then this is probably not the place for you! The current management is renovating this wonderful old resort slowly, and learning event management along the way. Their chef, Stefan, is amazing, and Tina, who organizes all the events, is the sweetest person imaginable. However, they're a little overwhelmed - not always organized or on top of things. Our lovely, historic adobe housing was quaint and relaxing - but basic! The prices were GREAT, especially for SoCal - as little as $75 per room for fully renovated adobes. Updated modern rooms with TV's exist, and were greatly appreciated by some of the older guests and those with kids. The grounds are extensive and there's tons of spots for ceremonies and a couple choices for a reception. We chose their lavender fields (the resort is also an herb farm) for the ceremony and their permanent tent for the reception. The locations were perfect! The plated meals to the tent were wonderful; we had very high standards, and chose a more formal multi-course meal that featured some of the local resources - it was wonderful, and well-served for the most part. The price per meal was excellent, especially considering the quality! We could party as long as we wanted as long as we were willing to pay a couple of staff for extended hours, which was important to us. That said, it was tough to organize with them. We ended up handling the room reservations via our RSVP's rather than having guests call - because HSR is not known for answering phones. This produced some confusion. We had to email/call with some unhappy ultimatums halfway through because they simply did not answer calls or emails from our wedding planner - and it was a destination wedding! We worked with them, they worked with us, and we worked it out. Once we arrived, there were issues with the running water, a lack of reliable maid service, and highly disorganized billing. BUT there were also thoughtful touches and we had the run of the resort! It was a little bit like a formal wedding and summer camp all mixed up together, and that was just fine with us. I highly recommend them! Flexible, easygoing couples who appreciate the history, the local feel, the location, the organic focus, and a casual approach will love it. It's great for nontraditional weddings and for those who want a vacation in their wedding! But it's not flashy, it's not formal, and it's not so organized.... we loved it regardless.

Helen is great! She is professional and very helpful. She had helped us all throughout our planning until the actual day of our wedding. Our ceremony couldn't be any more perfect but i was a little disappointed with the reception at the restaurant. First of, food was delayed, buffet wasn't ready on time, guests had to wait for about 10-15 minutes. I noticed, the guests at the end of the line ran out of food and it took about 5-10 minutes for someone to refill the food and my relative/family actually had to tell the server that food was out. At the end of the reception, there was a lot of left over food because during the time people were lining up, they ended up just going back to their seats or people didn't even wait to get seconds. The manager in charge at night, i forgot her name told my family that they couldn't pack the food anymore because it's been sitting for almost an hour and because of food regulation. Which i totally understand, however i was thinking if food was continuously being refilled then more likely theres less left over which we paid for. Basically, that was money wasted and food wasted. The taste of the food was great and so is the cake. Just not so happy with the catering service which we have paid for also.

My husband and I fell in love with Highland Springs the first time we saw it. It was all of the qualities of a mountain venue without the long drive. We thought that the prices were very competitive with other resorts. We quickly learned that the staff was incredibly unprepared for their jobs. The front desk staff gave away rooms that were blocked under our names to strangers and then told guests of the wedding that there were no rooms for them when many were still available. This happened 5 times over a 6 month period. At one point a guest booked a room and the front desk person changed the reservation for ALL remaining rooms to the guests name when they only booked one. Our coordinator was very helful but she was on maternity leave for a major portion of the planning and her stand in and she was unable to make decisions without consulting someone else. The oak tree that we got married under was magical. I couldn't have asked for more natural beauty. The chef is fantastic! I also highly reccommend the pastry chef there. They made the dinner and dessert portion of the evening unforgettable. I consider myself a very patient person, but Highland Springs Resort nearly caused me to break. Lucky for them the resort is beautiful and I didn't have enough time to book somewhere else
