We held our reception here since we had many out of town guests who would need a place to stay. Unfortunately the hotel was under construction and several of our guests checked in and out the same day. Our original coordinator, who we loved, left her position mid-planning, and after that things went down hill. We had a fantastic time at our reception, but certain things were just off. Our room was double booked, so they didn't have time to arrange the tables as originally planned, thus our seating chart was all messed up! The family tables were off in bumble and my parents had to scurry so my grandma's table wasn't off in the corner. The food was great, but our best man ended up removing the covers in the buffet. There weren't enough chairs at our head table, so our maid of honor had to wait for a seat. Not all guests got champagne and we were never even offered the top to our cake. The outside doors were locked at 10, so smokers had to wait for someone to let them back inside. The bar was to reopen at 8, and the bartender refused to serve my cousin when he went to get a drink at 7:58. At the end of the reception, the security guard couldn't get us out of there fast enough. When I shared these things with our coordinator after the wedding, all she said was "OH." Like I said, we had a blast at our reception, but the Holiday Inn wasn't the reason why.

Ignore the brand name.

This hotel is an amazingly good value for a wedding, and I'm not talking chintzy fake flowers or a crappy business ballroom swathed in tulle (unless you're into that).

Their recent renovation has resulted in a surprisingly elegant space for an event; the colors are contemporary but attractive, and the details are fine.

For comparison's sake, I found this to be prettier than the St. Regis -- yes, we looked there, too. I'm not a "let's just get married in Vegas or at the community center" kind of girl. Sorry.

And the food was great for the price.

We had about 200-300 guests, with lots of special dietary needs, and everything went just fine. No drama at all, and they were extremely flexible re: outside vendors, special food choices and timing.
