Our wedding was on July 3,2014. We could not have asked for a better venue. Michael and Paula were great to work with, very flexible, and always responded to any questions or phone calls. The property was pristine, and they constantly do improvements. In fact, two soon to be brides were so impressed they are using Hope Glen for their wedding. I would highly recommend Hope Glen to anyone who is looking for a barn/Farm wedding. Thank you Michael and Paula for making my daughter's wedding day, a day she will always remember

This is where you want to have your wedding. Our day was dang near a complete disaster at every turn but the one thing that wasn't was the gorgeous atmosphere (despite the almost all-day thunderstorms) and hospitality Michael and Paula provided. The storm knocked out the sound system in the tree, but Michael was able to quickly fix it (I'm talking minutes between the end of the rain and start of the ceremony). Whew!

Side note:
* Do NOT go through Minnesota School of Bartending - I received reports from guests saying MNSOB broke hard liquor and wine bottles throughout the evening and never mentioned anything to us! When I called to take care of this issue, they accused us of drinking after the bartenders left and said we broke the bottles. During this same conversation he stated that wine bottles break due to 'carbonation' - last I checked wine (not champagne) doesn't have carbonation. They also sent one of the two bartenders an hour earlier than requested and argued with my mother at the end of the evening demanding to be paid.

* If you plan on having candles at your reception get some type of optic votive. It was so windy that the tealight candles in the votives (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/36418000/) we used kept blowing out. Also, be prepared to chase down your table runners. I'm thinking some type of clear tape would've worked to security it to the tables but we had other issues to deal with.

* If you're planning on using the blue antique chairs for grandparents or older parents at the ceremony site, be aware the benches don't move so it would block your aisle. We didn't know this until the day of the wedding.

* There's no running hot water in the pavilion or barn bathrooms. Probably not a big deal for most brides since summer temperatures are typically warm. Our day was cold and rainy, so it sucked to wash your hands in cold water. Also, heating lamps are installed in the pavilion ceiling that Hope Glen can turn on at your request.

Hope Glen Farm responded with the following comments:

Boy, we really are surprised to hear this comment about MN School of Bartending. They have been here at Hope Glen Farm over 80 times since we opened and they have been very professional and great to work with. Everyone has been very pleased with their service. They only send experienced bartenders here, and they have been providing professional bartending services for over 46 years. What ever happened I am sure was an accident. By the way, there are several types of wines that are lightly carbonated. The bottle that broke that night was lightly carbonated. Just saying.

Michael was great to work with and he certainly helped me rest easy knowing my invitations were in his hands. He helped me get the wording down and the font just right - I am very grateful to him for helping me out on such short notice and he gave us a GREAT price that we couldn't refuse.

Thanks Michael and we wish you the best of luck!

The venue was perfect for my rustic feel that I wanted. Micheal and Paula were absolutly wonderful to work with. They gave many options where i wanted all my stuff and had tables and chairs all set up for me. I had lots of stuff brought in and they were flexible with how it was set up and for tearing it down for the next wedding the following day. They also had many options withbug spray... i would recommend that bc we were going to do it and last minute with changed our mind after it had rained the day before the wedding. all of our guests loved the open space and the mood that it set!!! If i had to do it over ... i would be right back there!!!!

This was a fabulous vendor, great to work with! Michael and Paula really throw their time, energy and heart into their business. It is so obvious that they care about each couple that comes through! They are also constantly making their venue a better place, and it is already an awesome and beautiful place to get married. Our wedding was so much fun, and there was very little that I needed to prepare as the bride as the venue includes the chairs, tables, many decorations, and A/V equipment as part of the rental price. And the venue workers set up all the furniture/tables exactly as you want them so everything is in place when you arrive on your wedding day. One of our guests said, "Every time I think about that wedding, I can't help but smile." Thanks Michael and Paula! God Bless!

Hope Glen Farm is a dream wedding venue! Our guests were blown away by the farm. The flexibility that Hope Glen offers is amazing with many striking options for ceremony, reception and cocktail hour sites plus a bonfire, too! The photo opportunities are endless. Being a new venue, we discussed the pros and cons of being one of the first weddings at Hope Glen. We were not dissapointed. Michael and Paula delivered on everything that they promised and then some. The improvements they made to the property were spot on. We would not hesitate to recommend Hope Glen for your outdoor wedding or reception.

BEAUTIFUL venue to host a wedding. The ONLY complaint for me was simple miss-communication on very simple, but important aspects(like double booking rehearsal times, and last minute requirements being added), although they were corrected and all went well, it's the fact that it was completely avoidable. I do give credit, where credit is due and understand the venue was very new at being a venue. I wouldnt have dreamed of having a more beautiful venue though and Michael & Paula(the owners) are wonderful, flexible, compassionate people. I wish them and all the brides to come well wishes.

The venue is beautiful. We were told the tables/chairs would be set up for us,they were working on it but there was still a lot to be done. Luckily there were over 20 family/friends to help us get everything set up in time. It seems that the venue is extremely busy, so at times the response times can be very slow or questions get skipped. We were one of the first few weddings at the venue so I am sure things will get worked out. Mike and Paula were great to work with and really care about each wedding.

Hope Glen Farm responded with the following comments:

Yes we are new to the wedding business and we have a huge learning curve and this wedding was our third wedding of the first season. I appreciate so much this wedding party helping as we were overwhelmed the morning of the event. we just came through a marathon of finishing the pavilion and bathrooms just the day before. Cleaning up the after math that comes with construction.
So thank you thank you thank you for being such a wonderful patient bride! We love you! Michael and Paula

Hope Glen Farm is a wonderful venue to have a wedding at. They put in so much work over the course of the year to make this a great place to host your event, and the flexibility that comes with the venue is amazing. It helped us stay within our budget while paying for the wedding by being able to bring in whatever vendors we wanted, and not having to rent your tables and chairs made such a huge difference.

The only things that were frustrating was some of the communication and contract points. There were additional requirements continually being added, and the contract we signed was completely outdated by the time the wedding came around that it was hard to know what we were supposed to have or not have. When it came to the alcohol...were no kegs a preference of the owner, or a part of the contract? Hope Glen Farm should make this more clear in the contract for future brides.

Hope Glen Farm responded with the following comments:

Yes as being a new venue and not being in this type of business before we had to change things up to make everyones life a bit less stressful. (Learn as we grow) We now have in the contract "NO KEGS". After several unfortunate instances with guests spilling beer all over the dance floor and un used kegs being emptied on the property and the total abuse of free flowing beer we were forced to not allow kegs. The NO KEGS brides are much happier as well. The lines for beer are non existent as before, the guests had to wait 10-15 minutes for a beer to be drafted plus the spill factor is minimal and people now who were forced to drink the single brand keg beer have a choice of beers in bottles or cans. Everyone is now happier. The cost factor did not change considering, cup purchases and the waste factor of kegs foaming. There are no more going back to the liquor store and no cash deposits of beer kegs and taps and disposing of half empty kegs. Plus with beer bottles or cans they can now take back left over un opened bottles/cans or take home for after wedding party. NOTE: Because of a spilled pitcher of beer from a keg we had to replace part of our dance floor. One more PLUS factor people who drink from kegs drink a lot more and and don't watch their consumption as a beer bottle / can drinker. There have been a lot less intoxicated wedding guests and more fun less trouble and civil since we banned beer kegs.

Hope Glen is definitely in the early stages of starting as a business/service, and the growing pains are evident. The owners often seem overwhelmed and unorganized, which is to be expected for a startup business. However, neither seems to have a strong business sense, or sense of professionalism. Emails were extremely difficult to understand (poor written communication), and almost all contact with brides (multiple at a time) was via email. There were verbal conversations and promises that were forgotten completely, which caused a ton of stress leading up to the day of the wedding. In hiring vendors that had worked at Hope Glen previously, we got the same feedback from them - that the owners were very odd, and difficult to work with. The venue changed drastically from the time we booked to the day of our wedding - in a good way. We got extremely lucky - the value for what we paid and the extras that were built between then and our wedding was amazing. That said, knowing what they charge today, I wouldn't have paid it. It's a toss up - the location and venue are incredible. I'd suggest getting a wedding planner if you choose this location, so they can run interference between you and the venue ownership.

Hope Glen Farm responded with the following comments:

Yes as we were very very new to this business (less than 6 months) and a bit over whelmed because of the popularity of this venue. We were hit with so many things all at once and could not possibly catch every detail that a bride would request so things did get dropped. Now that said, we have had over 77 weddings under our belt and we have gotten much better. Not to mention we were still in building up (Construction and learning mode) when this bride had her wedding.
Her comment: "I'd suggest getting a wedding planner"
Our comment: As far as having a wedding planner or at least a "DAY OF" is what WE recommend as well. The bride has enough going on on her special day without having to worry about details of her wedding. However we will do the VERY BEST we can possibly do and our goal is to make EVERY wedding and EVERY bride as stress free and pleasant as it could possibly be under our control.
