BIO for Daryl Beier, Horizon Entertainment
Discover What Makes A Great Wedding Dj

Daryl has been a professional mobile disc jockey since 1992. Daryl began his entertainment career prior to 1992 when he was just 16 years old as the lead vocalist and a back-up singer, professional emcee, musician and band leader of a travelling family road show band.

For several years, Daryl was not only a wedding singer and entertained for weddings, but he performed as the lead singer and guitar player for a successful, well-known, highly recognized, award winning, regional warm-up band that opened for a number of famous and nationally known song artists.

Despite Daryl’s background as a professional singer, entertainer, muscian, sound and lighting technician, emcee, band leader, band manager, Karaoke jockey, and DJ entertainer, he enjoys providing the DJ service for weddings most of all. Daryl is dedicated to creating a fun, unique, and memorable experience for his clients.

To sum it up, Daryl has a diverse musical background, a deep knowledge and love for all types of music, extensive technological expertise, lots of experience as an entertainer and a vast array and wide assortment of music, from every era and genre, with a massive music library of over 100,000 song titles.

Finally, Daryl has the ability to “read the crowd” in order to create an exciting and unforgetable event.

What music genres are in your collection?
50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Acoustic, Big Band, Classic Rock, Classical, Country, Dance, Folk, Funk, Gospel, Hip Hop, Jazz, Motown, Oldies, Orchestra, Pop, Punk Rock, R&B, Rock, Soul, Strings, Swing, World
Do you have liability insurance?
Describe your DJ style:
Horizon Entertainment is very formal, professional and interactive and uses all types and genres of music, from the past to the present 2010s to get guests out on the dance floor and dance!!!
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
No. Only as determined by the bride and groom (employer)
What is your usual attire?
Tuxedo or other formal attire as requested by the bride and groom (employer)
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
No. Any songs the bride and groom request in advance, I provide. Where I bring over 100,000 song/music titles, it's rare that I don't have or am unable to play a song request. Any song that is requested at the event, that I don't have, can be downloaded on the spot if there's access.
How many other DJs do you work with?
At Horizon Entertainment, I work alone and I prefer it that way. I've been an entertainer and disc jockey since I was sixteen, for a combined total of more than 30 years. I've had employees in the past. Sometimes they don't show up for a gig. After more than 1,000 weddings and other performances, I've never missed a show. I plan on keeping it that way. I do know the owners and work with a variety of other disc jockey companies and keep close contact with them... just in case.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
1 Hour
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
I used to, but not anymore. I'm busy and involved with enough conventional weddings and wedding receptions that I don't want or need to fracture my focus.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
I furnish and always ask that a do-not-play list be completed and submitted by the bride and groom.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Horizon Entertainment brings more high-end sound equipment and back-up equipment to the job site than any other disc jockey company I'm aware of. In addition to dj'ing for weddings, Horizon Entertainment has provided sound reinforcement for concerts, stadiums and arenas. As the owner of Horizon Entertainment, I've also dj'd and emcee'd for beauty pageants, dance recitals and semi-national cheer leading and dance competitions.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
As my standard lighting package, Horizon Entertainment automatically provides a 24" mirror ball with par 58 spot lights, as well as gobo light chasers and par lighting that flash to the beat of the music. More and high power lighting options are available, but not recommended as they can produce vertigo, dizziness, nausea, etc. among guests.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
Horizon Entertainment prefers to arrive early if and when possible, at least two or three hours before guests arrive, to allow ample to set-up and test Horizon Entertainment's light and sound show. It also allows me to come set-up equipment in my street clothes, then go freshen up, change into my tuxedo, relax and also review the wedding reception itinerary I have the bride and groom put together one last time. Horizon Entertainment is self-sufficient; however, if the site is willing to set-up a skirted table for the disc jockey, this is always appreciated.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
In order to allow room for Horizon Entertainment to set-up it's standard massive light and sound show and still allow room for me to work, it's good to have ample space. However, if there's not room for this, a smaller work area will be acceptable and accommodated.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
Horizon Entertainment does not advertise at its events. Horizon Entertainment does not need to advertise at its events and therefore, Horizon Entertainment does not bring a sign or use a banner.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
I am an interactive emcee ... just as interactive as the bride or groom wants me to be. Again, in addition to performing as disc jockey and master of ceremony, I've emceed beauty pageants, dance recitals, semi-national cheer leading and dance competitions, along with other events having crowds of more than 50,000 people .
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
From what guests and employers say, this is my specialty. I've always got dancers on the dance floor. For one, there are key dances that will always bring guests to the dance floor. There are also special dances that are so obligatory, that guests are naturally inclined, motivated and obligated to move to the dance flloor.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
There are never any breaks period. No meal breaks. No breaks of any kind. Clients do not need to feel obligated to provide a meal. Horizon Entertainment is self-sufficient, i.e., I always bring a pack lunch, just in case I'm hungry after the event.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Horizon Entertainment takes no breaks; therefore, there is no need.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
As earlier mentioned, I've been an entertainer and disc jockey since I was sixteen, for a combined total of more than 30 years. I've had employees in the past. Sometimes they don't show up for a gig. After performing for more than 1,000 weddings and other performances, I've never missed a show. I plan on keeping it that way. However, I do know the owners and I work with a variety of other disc jockey companies in order to keep in close contact with them... just in case I need them.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
I used to many years ago, but not any longer. I eventually learned that it's very difficult and challenging to meet the needs of my clients. I choose not to fracture my focus.
What is your overtime rate?
$100.00 per hour
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Typically not, because I typically choose not to book events so far away that it would require me to do so. Otherwise, when I do such events, I basically charge for the fuel that it takes to get my 1-Ton Dual Diesel cube truck to the location and back.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
In regard to down payments, Horizon Entertainment is very flexible. I generally let the customer choose the amount of money that they would like to put down. I've found over the years, however, that most customers like the idea of putting down $200. But again, I'm flexible.

Our DJ was amazing! He wasn't a normal cheesy wedding DJ but definitely got my guests to get up and dance and enjoy themselves. I have heard from so many guests that they had an awesome time. The online customer portal was so easy to use and the song selection was outstanding. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to all my friends!

They did a fantastic job at our wedding! The dj did a very good job reading the room and played music accordingly. The dance floor was always full and everyone said they really enjoyed it.

Daryl was professional, on top of things, and rocked out amazing tunes for our wedding. My family loves to dance, and he kept the music coming so that the dance floor was filled all evening. My family was disappointed when the evening ended! We asked for 60s, 70s, and 80s dance songs, and he gave us just what we wanted. He made the reception!

I have a large extensive family with lots of wedding dances. I continue to get compliments of what a great dance and DJ we had even 6 months later. Our guests really loved the music and Daryl played the crowd. Highly recommend!!!!

I would highly recommend using Horizon Entertainment for DJ services. Daryl Beier was a terrific DJ from start to finish. He was very responsive to our requests, prepared the music lists and choices weeks ahead of time, set up in a timely fashion, dressed and acted professionally and tailored the music based on the group responses. The dance floor was filled until the end (and beyond!) our alloted time. I look forward to using Horizon Entertainment again in the future. Jean Mescher

Wow! Thank you so very much for the KIND WORDS my dear friends. I too had a really AWESOME time at YOUR wedding reception....

What can I say, except You guys ROCK! I've deejayed and provided entertainment for a "LOT" of weddings over the past two decades, but at no time can I remember seeing a higher number of guests out on the dance floor, throughout the entire evening, having fun and dancing the night away! At no point was the dance floor empty! Every single one of your guests (that I spoke to) had a great time that evening.

As I've always said to my wedding couples:

"It's all about PLANNING" ... YET, don’t get so overly involved in your wedding reception plans that you forget all about what Your Special Day IS ALL ABOUT! Your marriage is the beginning of your life together. Make this time fun, memorable and exciting; you'll not regret it.

"You NEVER get a Second Chance to make a Good First Impression" on anyone, including your guests!

"It's ALL about the newlyweds" and "always" about the newlyweds, the Bride and Groom ... and NOT about the DJ.

Thanks again for the thumbs up and may God bless your marriage.

DJ Daryl
LOVED THIS GUY!!! Daryl was so wonderful! He invited us to his house and went over what we wanted and hoped he would provide us for our wedding. On the day of our wedding he set up without my husband or I even knowing he was there. He played all the music we wanted, was fun and polite and kept our guests dancing until Midnight (we only booked him until Midnight). He was so wonderful to everyone, that people stayed late just to help him pack his gear up. We highly recommend Daryl!!!
