I am extremely dissatisfied. I ordered my dress back in December 2012 when they were having a really good sale and I thought that I was being proactive by getting it ahead of time. I called them a couple of weeks ago to find out when my dress might be in because I expected it to be coming soon. They told me that it would not be in until February of 2014. That is 1 month before my wedding. It is taking them 14 months to make my dress. I think this is totally unacceptable. I wrote them an email on their website over the weekend and am waiting for a response back from them.

I read all of the negative reviews about this bridal salon and decided to try it anyway. I always try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Boy, was I mistaken. I ordered my dress in July and they said it would be in by the middle of October. Well, the middle of October came and no dress. I called a couple of times and one person told me I would get it in a couple weeks and another told me in November. It is now three days before my wedding... in Mexico, by the way, and I still don't have a dress. I have called and left numerous messages without any response at all. I am saddened and disheartened by this. What kind of a bridal salon has such horrible customer service?! I am very disappointed and have no idea what I am going to do. =(

I had mixed experiences with House of Brides during my wedding journey. I worked with Alicia to find my dress, and she was FANTASTIC! She was so much fun to work with and she really helped me find dresses that I didn't even know I would like. I was so happy with her and had a great experience. However, after the dresses were bought, it was downhill from there. I had such poor customer service. We had arranged to have the bridesmaids dresses to be delivered by the middle of June (even though my wedding wasn't until September) because all of them were from out of town and they were going to be in for a shower. Somehow, they screwed up the order and the dresses weren't even ordered to be delivered until I called the week they were suppose to arrive. The woman was so unapologetic and made it seem like there was nothing they could do about it, even though they were the ones who had screwed up the order. They claimed it didn't have to be there until 1 month before the wear date, but that wear date that we had listed was for July and it was definitely late because they hadn't even been ordered by the time the middle of June hit! It was so aggravating and they still never did anything for us, like reimburse us for the shipping that we had to do to get the dresses to all the girls. It was just so ridiculous considering my wedding dress did get in on time and well before the wedding. You would think that they could get their act together and have the bridesmaids dresses ready before the wedding dress! I would definitely not recommend going through them for this process.

That being said, I had my alterations done there because I got a deal when I bought the dress. They were very timely with getting them done, however they were not very flexible with when you could get in. It was difficult if you are working during the work week and the weekends are the only option. However, they know when you are getting married and will make sure to get you in and have it in enough time.

Actual seamstress staff were very nice women but they have the most unprofessional alterations desk manager ever. Rude, bossy, insulting, and overalll a miserable human being. Thank God we only used them for the bridesmaid dreseses....and the manager of the store is even worse... called me a liar when I told her that her sales staff promised the dresses by 1st of September. They didnt even know where dresses were 3 weeks before the wedding.... nor did the manager even care until I made a sceme in the store. They are very nice until they take your money then all bets are off. Of all vendors for my daughter's wedding this one was the worst. With the exception of the actual seamstresses (and the girl at the front door that greets you)... everyone else at the store is worthless. I read hundreds of bad reviews after the problems arose...wish I had looked at them sooner. I would have told my daughter to run the other way as fast as she can.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! My best advice if you order with them, is to lie about your wedding date. I had ordered my bridesmaids dresses there and gave them my wedding date as March 15th (Actual date is Apri 11th). After numerous calls and actually coming in to speak with someone, all I got was the run around. After management stepped in, the bridesmaids dresses finally came in March 13th!!!! 2, yes 2 days before the wedding date that I gave them!!!!! All of my bridesmaids needed alterations, so had I not lied about the date, they would have all been out of luck with dresses that do not fit.

I told them my wedding was 10/5/13 and as of 10/1/13 my dress was still not in! Thank God my wedding wasn't actually on the 5th because I would have had a mental breakdown. They kept telling me they were backed up and assured me it would be in on time and that they would have the alterations done in time, which I found very hard to believe because it took 3 fittings to get my dress perfect. I did end up telling them it was the 19th and they did get my dress done but they caused me more stress then I could even explain. I highly doubt they could do 3 fittings in less then 4 days. Not to mention if that actually were what happened, I would be wasting every day driving out there when the days before your wedding are filled with enough last minute errands. If you find a dress here that you absolutely have to have, tell them your wedding is 2 months before it actually is.

I loved my dress! The women Elaine that helped me when I first arrived is now retired, she was the reason the experience was amazing. The seamstress did a great job. When I came for my last fitting and took my dress home they didn't offer to steam it. Whenever I did call them to see to see when my dress was coming in or what not, NO ONE ever returned my calls. Which I find ironic because I get weekly prerecorded calls from them.

I ordered my dress on 3/2/13 for my wedding and was told that it will arrive the first week of August. My dress did not arrive until 2 days before. No one cared about the stress that they put me and my family through trying to track down where in transit this freaking dress was. Krys the salon manager has no control over the process. All they care about is collecting your money. All Krys did was not charge me for alterations. Big Whoop! This place is dispicable. Every person my family and I spoke to at House of Brides did nothing but lie and showed no compassion. How about give me a better discount! I should have not been made to even pay a balance. DONT SHOP HERE AND IF YOU DO LIE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Working with the House of Brides Schaumburg was an absolutely awful experience. They are DISHONEST and UNETHICAL. I ordered bridesmaids dresses through them in March 2013 for my wedding 8-24-13. The dresses were supposed to arrive in mid July 2013. I told them that I needed them by mid July because I had to send 3 dresses to bridesmaids who lived out of state & ensure that they had enough time for alterations before they flew to Chicago for my wedding. She told me they would have more than enough time.

First of all, they never called me to keep my updated on my order. I called Debbie in mid July to check on the status of my dresses. She rarely returns phone calls. Eventually I got in touch with her and she let me know that it would be about another week before they arrived. When I called the next week, it was the same story. When I called the week after that, again, it was the same story. I tried again the week after, the dresses were still delayed. The dresses didn't end up arriving until the Tuesday before my wedding. Debbie from the order department and the manager Chris were NO HELP WHATSOEVER. Every time I called, they acted like they had no idea why the orders were delayed and that is wasn't a big deal. For the longest time, they couldn't even give me a tracking number so that I could see for myself when the dresses were coming.

I explained my situation to them over & over. I told them that I needed the dresses to be expedited to get in as soon as possible. They said, "of course your order will be expedited we are doing all we can on our end" Nope, when I finally was able to get a tracking number from them, the dresses were being shipped via UPS ground. No overnights, no expedition. They had flat out LIED. None of my grls had time for alterations. Luckily I had a great wedding planner who helped pin & sew as needed.

I later found that HOB has 67 complaints against them with the Better Business Bureau. Save yourself time and stress. Don't order through HOB!
