Honestly I can see why this company has such poor ratings. Its the HORRIBLE customer service! The dresses and accessories are BEAUTIFUL though but some of the consultants need to learn to use their game faces and treat potential clients with respect! I would recommend buying a dress from here but not if you have to deal with rudeness.

RUN and I mean RUNNNNN from this store! I am so sad I did not read the reviews before I took my bridesmaids here to pick out dresses. Thankfully I bought my wedding dress from another store. We ordered 3 BM dresses from House of Brides in January for an August wedding (and even gave an earlier 'fake' wedding date). The initial dress selection and purchasing was okay, not great. Two of the dresses came in after about 5 months, but the third dress was nowhere to be found. Both my bridesmaid and I called every couple of days to check on the dress. We were repeatedly told "It will be in in 2 days" for over a month. When we finally put the pressure on Chris, their store manager, she was horrifically rude, called us names ('disgusting little girl' and 'weird'), lied to both of us, never ONCE returning phone calls. There are no corporate numbers to call, no one else to talk to to get your dress order figured out. We tried to cancel our order to attempt to buy another dress elsewhere, but were not able to cancel the order. I will be filing a claim with the BBB. We finally got the dress only days before the wedding. I have no idea how this place is still in business... The customer service is a nightmare.

RUN and I mean RUNNNNN from this store! I am so sad I did not read the reviews before I took my bridesmaids here to pick out dresses. Thankfully I bought my wedding dress from another store. They don't even deserve one star. I promise you'll regret it if you go here. Don't do it. They destroyed my wedding dress along with my wedding day, and don't even have the decency to call back to apologize. Go ANYWHERE but here. AVOID!! The manager, Kris Richards, is extremely unprofessional and allows the staff to be rude to their customers. The alterations department is the worst. The lady yells at you and will try to tell you that you didn't pay for something even if you did because she doesn't actually review the receipt. They didn't even steam my veil! After I complained to the manager, Kris told me to have my mother come back so they could steam it and said that she would personally work with her. My mother waited for her to come out for over 20 minutes and finally left - they still never steamed it. By far the worst customer service I've ever heard of! Don't think that it won't be you - the rumors of how bad House of Brides is are actually true.

We went to look for dresses in July 2015 for my April 2016 wedding. Toni at House of Brides was super helpful, she even stayed a little past closing time to make sure we had every girl measured. I don't even want to put stars down at all. Anyone who is looking for a fun, empowering dress-buying experience, please steer clear of House of Brides! My first appointment should've given me more than enough motivation to leave and try another place - it's just tough when you don't feel like traipsing around all of Chicagoland looking for a dress - and yes, they have a lot of dresses.

I just got through losing a whole bunch of weight, and my "consultant" wanted to push me into the "Diva" bridal suite - clear across the store, away from all the skinny dresses. When I refused (as I am a conventional size now) she kept saying to me "well, this dress won't look quite right because you're not the sample size." UGH, I know I'm not a size two - but that doesn't mean you have to constantly remind me and give attitude.

Anyway, I of course found the dress I was looking for and determined I was done shopping. Bought the dress, sash and veil on the spot. Oh yeah, remember to bring cash or check, because it's a 2% charge on any credit cards. Yeah, as if they would be accommodating with that too...I sensed a theme emerging.

Don't call to talk to customer service. Honestly, it's not worth the hassle and frustration of dealing with their terrible "service" people. I've never encountered such rudeness. I called to check on my dress (after reading other horror stories online...ugh, should've read those before purchase!) and no one called back or the voicemail box was full. My mom and I called to check on the dress' arrival (as stated, 5 months from purchase date) and encountered the worst customer service person on the planet. I wish I remembered her name - not like it really matters, if you get her on the phone, you'll know who I'm talking about right away.
Alterations were a nightmare - they're overworked and refuse to listen to your wishes. My "something blue" a patch that was to be sewn in the lining was sewn on the LACE so you could see through. Uhhh, what?!

I never give this bad of a review but i had a terrible experience here. I wish i would have bought the bridesmaid dresses where i bought my wedding dress but i was trying to save my bms a few bucks (which in the end was not the case). They gave me an original price and then added on shipping not discussed during my consultation. They were impossible to get ahold of and couldnt give me a correct delivery date until the day it came in. It was supposed to be in a month befpre the wedding and it arrived 1.5 weeks before. I would stongly recommend staying with boutiques that care to provide good customer service.

My first visit was okay, but the consultant was double booked so she had to help me and another bride at the same time.
My second visit, I had Luba who very sweet and kind. She helped me find the dress that I initially was looking for and I loved it. I made a third apt so that my mom and sister could see this dress and Luba helped once again, and I said yes to the dress! I also chose a veil that I saw in my first visit. The dress was reasonably priced, and she had given me a discount on the veil that I wanted which was very nice. She had them put my wedding date a month in advance to make sure that I got it in time, I was very very nervous from all of the horror stories about girls dresses not coming in on time etc etc, but mine did come in just about on time.
Trying to get alterations, I had to wait quite awhile my first visit, like there weren't enough people, or they overbooked. My apt started almost an hour late. When I came in to pick up my dress after the alterations, I noticed that one thing they said they would fix, they did not, and they also said they would inspect all of the beading and make touch ups as necessary so everything would be mint, which they also didn't do. For that apt I also had to wait quite awhile for them to meet with me for me to try on the dress. It was pressed and cleaned very nicely and I loved the design of the dress, but I really think the management needs to see the customer service issues which I think has to do with more staff and/or better scheduling to give customers a better experience.

My bridesmaids tried on dresses, but bc they only have 1 of every dress it was complicated to know which dress came in which color(if another group was there, you had to wait for the one dress and swatches-waiting was a waste of time) prices were high, I had one bridesmaid who couldn't try on anything bc all the sizes were way too small.
