We held our daughters wedding at Indian Springs a couple weeks ago and I would have to be the first to admit that I was nervous with the negative reviews out there regarding Cass and Kosch catering. I feel like I have to take the time and make sure there to give our opinion, it was absolutely AMAZING!! We got tons of compliments, everything was perfect.

Cass was very quick to respond to every email and was very accommodating. We did the "hog heaven" BBQ menu and it was delicious! A big key for getting the best of the foods offered is to go to the taste testing. Though a lot of the BBQ menu is not offered for tasting, most of the sides are and some were great while others were not. Our food was terrific!

Tamra at Indian Springs was great in the beginning but the day we met up with her to go over our set up, she was slightly difficult. Our daughter had envisioned how she wanted everything and had drawn in out, Tamra changed most of it. We had 20 guest tables (8 chairs at each) and a head table for 10. Our daughter really wanted the head table along the wall with the window, just so much prettier there. She did not want it there and thought we should talk with our photographer per the glass being behind us. Our photographer had no problems with it being there. Our DJ wanted his booth in the far right corner, Tamra said no, she wanted him behind the dance floor with part of his booth actually being ON the dance floor (though not a lot). Long story short, Tamra was not the one that handled the set up on the Friday before the wedding, Tammy from Kosch did and she was beyond amazing. She went above and beyond and made everything go so smooth, I just can't praise her enough. Kosch is lucky to have her. The head table was against the wall with the windows, our DJ fit perfectly in the corner, EVERYTHING was PERFECT.

I would highly recommend having your wedding and reception at this facility. The food is pricy but it is worth it! Gorgeous venue. :)

I was a guest at this wedding. Awesome venue, great view, couldn't have been happier with the food. I am definitely considering this venue for my wedding. I contacted the caterer and immediately received info. Can't wait to start planning my big day here!

Kosch catered our wedding, and at first we were a little apprehensive being that they were the contract caterer (meaning we had no other options). We were dead set on the venue, so we agreed to Kosch. They only have samples of the food once a year, so we had to go to another wedding to pick up a to-go box to sample the food, which felt a little awkward, but was fine. We are glad we did, because it changed our mind on what to order for our wedding.
In the office, we dealt with Cass, who is the events coordinator. He guided us throughout the process, and was very responsive to e-mails (we did most of our interaction that way); most he answered in a few hours’ time. He saved us money when I was getting a little overzealous with ordering booze (we never ran out) and we actually ordered the perfect amount.
The food was phenomenal. We had a buffet style wedding, and it was delicious. Many of our guests have made it a point to tell us that the food was awesome. They also did our wedding cake, which was beautiful, moist and delicious. We really couldn’t have asked for more.
The onsite staff at our wedding was awesome as well. The onsite wedding coordinator was great, she helped us with everything we needed the day before and day of-she really went above and beyond and was very kind. The wedding cake decorator stayed late to do some last minute flower work with the cake (I was about 40 minutes late with the fresh roses) and was very nice and chatty with my Mother. The bartenders were super friendly and genuinely looked happy to be there. They accommodated our guests’ needs with ease and grace, with zero problems. The wait staff was constantly there to clean up plates or glasses, and again looked happy to be there.
It should also be mentioned that Kosch provided all of our linens (including chair covers with bows), dishes, glass wear and centerpieces (cast iron light trees) which were perfect.

We had our wedding at Indian Springs recently, and it was absolutely beautiful. The guests raved about the secluded, natural gem of a location and the gorgeous event room. In terms of a lovely location, this place is second to none.

Tamra was very helpful in showing us around and explaining the different ceremony and room options (we had our ceremony under the tree). The day-of coordinator, Jamie, was fantastic and took excellent care of our guests.

My experience with Kosch was a bit mixed, however. The communication with Cass, the guy from the sales office, was poor--due to some staffing changes shortly after we booked, we were never told about the once-a-year group tasting. There was no apology until I made it clear that we were NOT happy. (Let me note that I'm usually very forgiving about these kinds of oversights, but for a rather important event like a wedding, a sincere apology up front would have gone a long way.) Cass was able to arrange for us to stop by the kitchen before another wedding and pick up a to-go box of whatever was on the buffet for that night. The food was rather unimpressive, which concerned me at the time.

Ultimately, we picked menu items we hadn't tasted, and they actually turned out wonderfully. The food was fresh, hot, and tasty. Several guests commented later about how good it was. I have to give MAJOR credit to Teresa, the catering manager, and her staff. They were so kind and helpful throughout the day, and took excellent care of our guests, especially those with mobility or dietary issues. Teresa called me the week of the wedding to go over details, and she was clearly on top of everything. So in the end, in spite of a few initial problems, I was very pleased with the results--great food, beautiful setting, and excellent service from the catering staff.

I would definitely recommend the venue, but I would just advise you to be proactive about communicating with the Kosch office.

Indian Springs Metropark is a beautiful venue for a wedding. We had an amazing time and the service from the site was so helpful. THe only problem is that you have to go with their caterer Kosch who they have a contract with and they are so unprofessional and rude. The event coordinator Cass is uninterested in supporting any kind of request and with the amount of money you pay to the caterer, they should be more then accommodating

The venue was absolutely beautiful and perfect for us. We received so many compliments from our guests. Tamra was very easy to work with. However, we found out less than a week before our wedding that their outdoor sound system was broken and likely wouldn't be repaired before our wedding. Basically, we were on our own if we wanted music for our ceremony. My biggest complaint about the venue was that they have an exclusive contract with Kosch catering. Kosch was difficult to work with and overpriced. They don't offer many options, and they were unwilling to work with us. They only offer one tasting per year, and since we signed our contract after the tasting, we were just out of luck. We literally just randomly picked our menu. Kosch's only redeeming quality was their day-of coordinator, Theresa. She was absolutely AMAZING. She helped us out so much, and was incredibly nice. I felt like she genuinely cared about making our day perfect. I really wish Indian Springs would consider either not renewing their contract with Kosch or allowing a couple different caterers to work with the venue to give people more options.

My fiance and I looked at tons of reception venues and the Environmental Discovery Center was by far the most unique and visually interesting location. Indian Springs Metropark is just stunning. It's set way back off the road and so it's both incredibly quiet and fairly remote from the normal signs of civilization. The room itself has high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, a deck, and a clean, modern look. Our guests--kids and adults alike--were super into the pond room and just really impressed with how beautiful the setting was. Plus, you can feel good about the cost of the room--the price is low and you're supporting both the metropark and environmental education.
There is one downside: you have to go with Kosch catering if you book the environmental discovery center and Kosch is pretty much a complete nightmare to work with. They're extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Our food ended up being alright (although at the tasting, my parents found pieces of foil in their food!) on the day of the wedding, but there were problems with the bar service. I don't regret having my wedding at Indian Springs, but I would urge the parks service to consider going with a different caterer when Kosch's contract has expired.

This is such a beautiful location! The staff is so super helpful and you can't beat the price! They only use Kosh catering (all metro parks do) but the food was really good. People are still commenting on it 6 months later. The only thing that didn't work out how I would have liked was they only do buffet and not plated since they only have a small kitchen they use as the bar area. But it wasn't a deal breaker for me.
The surroundings alone are enough to book it!

This venue is so gorgeous! We had our ceremony outside and reception in the event room. The coordinator at the venue works closely with the required caterer, Kosch, so it's hard to say who was responsible for what, sometimes... but the room looked great. We had to do a little bit of rearranging since things weren't quite where we meant to put them, but it was no big deal. Tamra was good about getting back to us when we had questions and meeting with us to go over the details and whatnot. The price is FANTASTIC for the quality of the place. The required caterer is, honestly, a little bit of a bummer, though they did a good job in the end (I just would've liked the flexibility, and I think we caterers know that you're stuck with them, they don't try quite as hard to wow you. Kosch is probably more expensive than we would've preferred, as well, though that's what you get for having an affordable venue, haha.)

The Environmental Discovery Center is a beautiful and unique place for a reception. There is plenty of room, the restrooms are large and convienent (especially the women's), and there are numerous photo opportunities. Guests can stay inside or go outside on the deck overlooking the pond. It typically took 2 days in order for someone to return my phone calls and e-mails, but overall the venue was perfect. Everything was set up the night before the wedding, so all we had to do was put the finishing touches on the next morning. We were able to have the room from 10am the day of the wedding to 12 am the next morning, which allows plenty of time. Also, there are no other weddings scheduled on the same day, so you don't have to share a venue.

I fell in love with this venue at a wedding we attended there. I wouldn't probably have chosen it if I had really thought about it. The people where hard to work with and not very flexiable. It's a metropark that is just getting used to doing lots of weddings. It was very hard to get answers from anyone. I wouldn't recomend working with them, which is a shame because the park is beautiful.

It was simple, yet elegant in its own way. I am so happy with the way everything turned out, but getting there was a challenge. Our contract was changed by the metropark less than 6 months before our wedding, and there was nothing we could do. The catering company was changed, and the service we received up to, AND INCLUDING, the wedding day by Kosch Catering was absolutely awful. The main problem with the Environmental Discovery Center is their new catering company, and Tamra (the event planner at EDC) doesn't ever get back with you. If you can get past all of that, the place is absolutely amazing, and not expensive either!

On-site ceremony & Reception Hall

Indian Springs Metropark, in White Lake Michigan, has a wonderful event hall located in the Discovery Center. Which unfortunately books up fast.

The room itself, is simple yet with beautiful wood and 2 walls of full windows, has a great view overlooking a pond.

The staff at Indian Springs Metropark, are nice, are easy to work with, even offer "green" options for reception.

The weather held off, and we were married out in the circle by the old Oak trees.

Having the ceremony on-site, they provided us with a driven golf cart, for our guests, setup 100 white chairs for the ceremony. Also set up the tables and chairs for the reception.

Little has to be done at this site to make it special. We are looking forward to our pictures taken under the pond.
