Come find the casual side of elegance at Ingleside Vineyards. Our vineyards and winery are like nowhere else on earth. You will not find strip malls on every corner here in the Northern Neck, and you will probably see more herons than minivans. But that's what makes our surroundings so unspoiled and unpretentious. Ingleside Vineyards embraces the casual attitude and lifestyle of the Northern Neck, and by visiting us, you too, can experience great wines in a relaxed environment.

Ingleside Vineyards has produced a long heritage of award-winning wines and is rich in nature's beauty and history. Our wines have consistently earned top honors in state, national and international wine competitions, such as the Virginia Governor's Cup Competition, the San Diego International Wine Competition and the London International Wine and Spirits Competition. Nearby you will find the birthplaces of George Washington, Robert E. Lee and James Monroe. As one of the oldest and largest wineries in Virginia, we have been producing hand-crafted wines from estate grown vineyards for almost thirty years. Our winery is part of the 3,000 acre Ingleside Plantation Estate, which has been owned by the Flemer family for over one hundred years. We take pride in the fact that we are a Virginia Century Farm.

Ingleside Plantation has "worn many hats" over the years. Built in 1834, it has served as a boys' school, known as Washington Academy, a Civil War garrison, a courthouse, and a dairy farm. Now the property is home to Ingleside Vineyards, as well as Ingleside Nursery. Our winery is housed in the plantation's former dairy barns. Ingleside Vineyards began in 1980 and produces over 18 varieties of wine from estate grown grapes today. Read less

We had a 150 guest wedding at Ingleside Vineyards. We used the venue for our ceremony location, cocktail hour, and reception.

Pros: The venue is beautiful for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We held our ceremony outside in the flat space just before the gated entrance to the courtyard. Our ceremony pictures turned out beautiful and the rolling hills and green vines were a gorgeous backdrop for our wedding. We held the cocktail hour in the courtyard which was lit up with strings of white Christmas lights, beautiful outdoor patio tables, a fountain, and overhanging trees. The courtyard is big enough to hold over 200 people and if I could have guaranteed the weather, I would have held the entire reception in the courtyard. We used the barn stairs to make our grand entrance and we did our fist dance outside in the courtyard under the stars. The pavilion is great for a seated reception and held my 150 guests comfortably. The pavilion is very neutral and can accommodate almost any style and has 3 HUGE French doors that open out to a covered patio which we used as a dance floor. There is a small kitchen that a caterer can use to prep food and a add-on room to the pavilion that could be used as a buffet room (although I had a served dinner). There are handicap facilities (ramp, restroom) that make access quite easy. There is also a beautifully decorated and furnished bridal sitting area where my bridesmaids and I did some finishing touches and got prepared. The barrel room is gorgeous and was used by the groomsmen to get prepared and ready as well. The barrel room and parts of the gift shop were perfect for some very unique photo ops. The rental fees were reasonably priced considering all events (ceremony, reception, etc) were held there. I also encouraged guests to show up early to do a wine tasting and experience the grounds. Virginia wine can sometimes be hit or miss, but Ingleside wine is DEFINATLY a hit, it is quite tasty and is very reasonably priced, with the exception of the sparkling wine (see Cons below). Since I was buying a large amount of wine, I was able to get a 25% discount as a member of their case club which translated into a significant amount of cost savings. Only the wine needs to be purchased from the vineyard, so we were able to stock our own beer and liquor and realize additional cost savings as they did not charge any premium. We only needed to get an ABC banquet permit for the event.

Cons: When we first met with the special events coordinator (Amy) at Ingleside and it was within her first week working there. During our initial meetings, Amy specifically told us that we had unlimited time to use the venue, and provided little to no restrictions on the use of the facilities. We put a contract in place and continued to plan our wedding based on this information with a tentative end-time of midnight since the contract was silent on timing. In our final meeting with Amy, we were told that Ingleside contracts were only good for 5 hours, meaning the reception had to end at 11pm. It was obvious that we were shocked about this new revelation, so Amy apologized for providing false information during our initial meeting and agreed to keep the venue open for us until midnight since we had already booked the DJ and other vendors based on the prior representation. While it all ended up working out at the end, the sudden hiccup made me loose some confidence in the venue. The rental contract has also been revamped to include more specifics regarding venue use. All wine has to be purchased from Ingleside and that includes the $35/bottle sparkling wine. We ended up spending more $$$ on the case and a half of sparkling wine for our toasts than we did on the 12 cases of wine to stock the reception. The vineyard is open to the public through 6pm in summer. If you wanted to do the ceremony there before 6pm, you could potentially have uninvited guests attend your ceremony or have general public people driving in and out during the ceremony.

Amy did an awesome job with our wedding. She co-coordinated with May Lane Designs together they were an awesome pair. Amy handled numerous vendors and also a quick setup for our wedding since the vineyard had an event the same day. We never knew that anything went wrong (little did) and we got to enjoy a stress free day with our family and friends. We can not thanks these two ladies enough for the beautiful setup, flowers, food and all their help.

Ingleside Vineyards was a lovely venue for our ceremony and reception. The people were amazing and I can not thank them enough for everything that they provided us with. We had the reception outside and it was beautiful. The staff was very helpful, prompt, and just awesome!

We used their wines for our reception, which were great. Ingleside Vineyard offers a great selection of wines and the guests were very impressed with the wines that were served.

All I can say is that having the wedding and reception at Ingleside and using May Lane Designs were some of the best choices that we made for our wedding.
