I was not pleased with Ivan at all. He left my reception earlier than we had agreed and didn't even let me, my husband or my planner know. He also promised the video in 6-8 weeks and it was 18 weeks before I finally got it. He had asked people to do interviews while we were off taking pictures and in almost every one, he didn't have the person in frame. So literally it was like hearing someone talk and seeing half of there face.

I think this is another case of "you get what you pay for". I would recommend him because I think the alternative for us was not to get a videographer--my husband didn't want one. I insisted, so we chose him because he was willing to work with us on price. Originally it was going to be $600 for 3-4 hours on a Thursday night, I got him down to $500, then down to $400+tax to just give us the mini DV cassette at the end of the night so that he wouldn't have to edit or convert it (we didn't want to lose any footage or quality, so this worked for us). I wasn't hugely impressed with the quality of the footage, but then again I've never seen a wedding video that didn't look amateurish. Other people RAVED about it, but people fawn for the sake of fawning. Maybe I'm just critical because it didn't adequately capture the experience of the day, but maybe that's not possible. It seemed that every time I looked at him the camera was off, but after watching the video I see that 1) the tape was only 60 min long and he filmed for about 51-52 min, and 2) there is a lot of stuff that seemed important at the time but is editable now.

He did stay maybe 1/2 hour late (about 3 1/2 hours total) in order to capture some of the reception for us, since the photography ran late. He agreed to stay for just the first dance and toast, which didn't seem all that important to us until we heard the toast, after which we were SUPER glad he was willing to do that! But he sort of negated that when I came over to thank him as he was leaving and while they were calling me to do the father/daughter dance he was asking me repeatedly to be sure to tell the resort's coordinator how much we appreciated his staying late so that she'll recommend him to other brides. I thought that was unprofessional, and an inconsiderate thing to say to a bride at her wedding! He couldn't email that request?

I'd recommend him, as long as you're not looking for hollywood quality and not willing to spend more for someone else.
