After trying on so many cupcake and princess dresses and being forced into veils and things I just didn't feel myself in, my cousin brought me to J. Crew bridal. From the minute we walked into the door, everything was so comforting and warm. Katie helped me and listened to what I had to say about the silhouette I wanted for the big day. We had a private dressing room and it was awesome. I loved everything about it and received the greatest compliments at my wedding.

My best friends, mother and I had an absolutely wonderful experience buying my dress at the JCrew Bridal Boutique in NYC. My dress was perfect for my destination beach wedding, and so many of them would have worked, but my mine was definitely "the one" for me. JCrew is much more my style than "stuffier" boutiques - I will remember it forever.

I didn't go to the boutique, but purchased my dress online. AND! It fit like a glove. I definitely recommend Jcrew's dresses, simply because of the quality, and everlasting style. I was so happy with my dress.
Since it cost under$1000, it was nice to enjoy the day instead of worrying about any stain or speck of dirt. Perfect!

The brand spanking new J. Crew Bridal Salon just opened on May 29th. I emailed them back in April to set up an appointment for my maid-of-honor and bridesmaid to try on dresses and they were already pretty much booked up solid the first few days. The earliest I could get was June 3rd. And this was fully a month before they opened! So if you have any interest in booking an appointment in the near future, I suggest getting on it ASAP!

With that said, they're still working out some kinks at the store. For one, the A/C downstairs (where the private dressing room suites are) is not quite working yet. They probably weren't anticipating an early summer like the one we're having. But they do offer you water in fancy champagne flutes to keep you hydrated. This particular store is also their first to use a computerized booking system, but there's a slight glitch in that it does not allot any breaks between appointments, so keep that in mind if your consultants seem particularly tired or harried.

But if they're anything like our consultants Kristin and Noelle, they won't let on at all! They were totally professional, helpful and friendly throughout our hour-long appointment (appts are generally 1.5 hours). I think Kristin was actually our official consultant since she helped my girls get in and out of their dresses. Meanwhile, Noelle's main task was to look up dress styles, fabrics, colors and inventory on her nifty hand-held device. It was very high tech. I guess J. Crew has an app for that! They put us in a very classy suite with two dressing rooms so that each of my girls had plenty of space (no need to be cramped into one like at some other stores), plus a small couch. I was too busy taking photos of my girls though, so there was very little sitting on my part. It was great to have so much privacy and space...it was a nicer experience than most of the ones I had while wedding gown shopping!

I'm pretty sure we pulled 75% of the bridesmaid dress line for my girls to try on. The fabrics they use are primarily chiffon, cotton and silk taffeta (a much softer taffeta than we had previously seen). There is also quite a bit of variety within each fabric; unfortunately, not all styles look good on all body types, so keep that in mind. What I liked most about Kristin and Noelle was their honesty in what worked and what didn't work on my girls. They weren't aggressive in their sales pitch - they mostly let the clothes speak for themselves - and they didn't pressure us into buying on the spot, although they did explain that once inventory was gone, they wouldn't get another shipment until August.

The particular dress that we all liked best b/c it looked good on both my girls (the Juliet) was also more reasonably priced than I was expecting ($180). We had seen a similar dress from a bridesmaid-specific brand for almost $100 more! What is it with jacking up prices for everything wedding-related?? I guess that's another rant for another time.

The upstairs area is for their high-end items, the stuff that you won't see in a regular J. Crew store. Apparently they sell some vintage and one-of-a-kind jewelry and clothes, so I guess J. Crew really is expanding their market. I have to say, they're doing a great job with their foray into the wedding market. All in all, it was a really fun, pleasant experience, and I think my girls appreciated being a little pampered for once.

Again with only 6 weeks to plan a wedding, I did it with some great help. I went into the city, with my best friend, without even knowing you needed an appointment and they took me 1hr later. I walked out having purchased a dress just a few hours later . It was delivered to my home within the week. I was able to buy the necessary accessories for the dress that day in the store. I felt it was affordable and it was perfect for what I wanted, something simple yet classy. Something special, yet it did not cost more than my mortgage at the time! I highly recommend J CREW for the girl that is intimidated by the large racks of dresses in your more typical stores. I wish they had more of a selection of veils, but they did not carry what I had in mind. They did have some funky things, but I was looking for something else. It is a great store, and its a nice experience because it is a private experience, without too many people around you.
