I would NEVER reccomend JC Penney jewelery department, online department, catalog department, or brick-and-mortar store. Until they seriously revise their customer service, they do not deserve my recommendation.

This all started with a wedding band, ordered in October from JC Penney.com, that came in the wrong size. I returned the ring in-store, and ordered a replacement. Store's don't carry 'half-sizes' and apparently, this becomes a 'custom' factory order and apparently required additional time for the factory to find this (ahem, common) size ring. The JCP catalog department who processed my return/reorder promised that this ring would be in for my wedding 11-27, but apparently did not understand that the factory required 2 weeks to prepare this order BEFORE they would ship. When I called to check on the order, the JCP customer service phone center said, oops, sorry, no way to expidite your order, it won't ship until the day before your wedding, and by the way we can't cancel your order, or return your money, all we can do is 'hold' your order but it's probably too late to canel the shipment. In the end, my husband and I had to last-minute shop for his wedding band - NOT something you really want to do in a rush, causing stress, anxiety, and irritation. The JC Penney order did not arrive until Monday (two days after the wedding), and I had to return it BACK to the JCP catalog department, and AGAIN suffer another 48 hour hold on MY money that I paid on a debit card (no immediate refund - really?). In the end JCP Online kept my money a full 9 days AFTER I cancelled the order.

We ended up with a lovely men's ring from Kays, with a quality customer service experience and a replacement policy. My own lovely wedding band was from Blue Nile, which offered us a 10% discount JUST BECAUSE. Their own excellent customer service center actually called us to see if we were happy with my engagement ring.
