Jen has had a love of photography for as long as she can remember. Growing up in southeast Idaho, her passion for photography began in the outdoors. She spent countless summers with her father fishing, exploring, and capturing images.

She earned her degree from Salt Lake Community College, where she had the opportunity to learn under local photographers and artists. Jen has always been intrigued by the history and romance of photography, and enjoyed learning the whole process from film to print. With the influence of mentors and artists from SLCC she continued to develop her skills. It was there that her love of portraiture began. Her attraction to nature then quickly expanded into a desire to capture the human emotion.

In her spare time her other loves include gardening and cooking. Jen is a true supporter of local organic farming and the Slow Food movement. She maintains relationships with many restaurants and organizations that share this same common goal. She often volunteers her time and skills at fundraisers and food events, happy to be a part of it all.

Jen’s goal is to make photography fun and easy while capturing images that will last a lifetime. With a photojournalistic approach, her aim is to tell the story of the day whether it be the celebration of a newly joined life or a new addition to the family. Jen combines a great eye for capturing the moment and a talent for adding an artistic flare. Read less

The pictures came out BEAUTIFULLY. They really do speak for themselves. Jennifer is young and has a great eye for photojournalism. Nelwyn was excellent; very calming. Both made us feel very at ease and made the picture-taking process as painless as possible. We got approximately 350-400 shots and the negatives. She didn't make albums, which is fine with me because I’d rather do them myself. Jennifer was a bit slow at responding to my emails, which was really the only drawback in our interactions. I would also recommend that you create a list of "must-takes" regardless of who your photographer is. On the day-of you’re not going to remember all the shots you wanted. My husband and I are very pleased with our pictures.

In regard to the whole debate over whether to take pictures before the ceremony or not – we are really glad we did a bulk of them beforehand. The natural light was really good before the ceremony; after the ceremony we had problems. I think the ones taken before came out a bit better due to the lighting. It also allowed us more time between the end of the cocktail hour and the start of the reception to mingle with a few tables.
