It is a shame this place has gone downhill. I used to be a client of Jossie's for many years. She altered my sister's wedding dress a few years ago, so when it came to my wedding i naturally chose her to alter my dress too. Big Mistake...i should have listened to my sister-in-law who also had her dress altered there and she told me it was the worst decision she made because Jossie was the first and only vendor that made her cry. I had purchased a beautiful dress but unfortunately a very complicated dress to alter. So i went to the only person i knew could do a great job...now, dont get me wrong. Jossie's staff did an excellent job altering my dress (Jossie doesnt sew-she just runs the shop and designs). I had the best seamstress-Carol who was excellent and should definitely consider her own business and probably make more money than Jossie herself. The main problem i have with Jossie's Coutoure is service....and that in and of itself is my only reason for complaint. If you choose to be a client of Jossie's this is how it goes...you have an initial meeting with Jossie-who designs a dress for you, charges you an arm and a leg, and when you say yes, they create a paper file and stick it in a stack of other paper files-because you know, it will never get lost like that. Then you make an appointment for your first fitting. You leave all fine and dandy...then you show up about 10 minutes early for your first scheduled appointment, but then you find out Jossie couldnt be there -she had "a personal errand to run"-ok, fine i understand- but then you have to wait around 2 1/2 hours for a fitting room to open up. (so basically, scheduling an appointment is useless since they never keep their end of the bargain). Then its finally your turn and once you're done-you are ready to make a second payment (she charges so much you have to pay in increments in order to afford it). But then-wait, they cant find your file!-I totally called that. So they create another file-or better yet- stick my payment slip in another file with the same last name. They'll eventually find my file and put in my payment slip. So they schedule you for your second appointment and you're done. You come back to your second appointment-but this time choose to come on time and not early, like you did last time since they made you wait anyways. You walk in and the store is empty and much to your suprise, jossie is still MIA. Then they tell you "oh, you dont have an appointment today" "yes-i do, we scheduled it last week" "oh, no you dont and we cannot see you today because we are completly booked" ..after going back and forth-they will never admit they messed up nor will they apologize for their error. They'll just send you home with a nasty glare. So you schedule your appointment-yet again and a few days later get a call "we will have to cancel-we are just so busy and cannot see you". I THINK NOT! You show up anyways- and throw a fit because you are tired of being mistreated and just want to get fitted for your wedding (which by the way-ends up being a week away because it's taken them almost 3 months of constantly going back and forth with you about their scheduling issues). All you want is to try on your dress-and get the hell out of there...all that trouble, and they just hand you your dress and tell you there's no need to try on the dress "well, i need to learn how to do the bustle" "oh, you'll figure it out"....oh and by the way you owe us money because we dont have any payment slips in your file (which mysteriously came out of hiding). Luckily-you kept record of all your payments so they say "oh, well thank god you kept record of payments-you're better at it than we are"....now is this really a business you want to deal with? Now granted, she has excellent seamstresses, but working with Jossie and her mother (who are both rude and offensive- i saw them turn away a lady of their services because she smelled, and then they came into my dressing room and made fun of her) is nothing short of a horror. The problem with Jossie is her refusal to admit she makes mistakes, and they will make plenty of mistakes-that i promise. Unfortunately for her, her stubborness and ego will eventually be her downfall. Which is a shame- because her seamstresses are excellent...but not worth going back again. She made me cry and had no shame in doing so....
