THE KAPLAN STRING QUARTET

The Kaplan String Quartet was formed in 1992 in Los Angeles,
California. The rich performance background of the members of the
quartet combined with a varied repertoire provides a diverse
choice of musical options for any social occasion.

The Kaplan String Quartet has appeared at many of the most popular
wedding, reception and party venues in the greater Los Angeles
area. Performances at the Catalina Room, the Long Beach Art
Museum and many of the Southland's noted church and synagogues
provides the quartet with the experience to adjust to a wide
variety of requests and performance circumstances. Special
accommodations in advance of an engagement can be made for musical
arrangements of non-traditional quartet versions of classical and
popular standards. For example, the Quartet has fulfilled
requests for arrangements of the William Tell Overture and In the
Mood. With experience in consulting with clients on special
requests and issues specific to each performance venue, the
members of the Kaplan String Quartet have become flexible in
making last minute changes, working with event/wedding
coordinators and performing with other musicians involved in an
event (vocalists, pianists, other instrumentalists).

The Members of the Kaplan String Quartet

All members of the Kaplan String Quartet are or have been performers with the
Santa Monica Symphony. We have toured with the Santa Monica
Chamber Orchestra to the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary and
Poland. (The Santa Monica Chamber Orchestra is a summer
performance group composed of musicians from the Santa Monica
Symphony.)

Jennifer Argenti, Violin: A native of Maryland, Jennifer Argenti
attended the Baltimore School of Music for the Arts and studied
violin performance at Baldwin Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio.
She is a veteran of the Santa Monica Symphony and has continued
her life-long study of violin at summer chamber music festivals in
the Western United States.

Paul Dolid, Cellist: With over 20 years of cello performance
experience, Paul Dolid also performs as a member of the Santa
Monica Symphony String Quartet. He has also performed in
orchestras in Montana, Minnesota and Canterbury, England. Paul
currently is employed as Director Financial Services for Kubota Tractor Corporation.

Amy Swain, Violin: Originally from Minnesota, Amy was the Concertmaster
of the Augsburg College Orchestra in Minneapolis. She continues to play in
numerous orchestras and chamber music groups and is currently learning
improvisation and rock and jazz violin. She has been a member of the Santa
Monica Symphony for nearly 3 years. During the day, Amy is the special
events manager for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association.

Carla Blanc, Violist: Carla moved to the Los Angeles area in 1998, after
completing her education in Texas. At Texas Tech, Carla received a bachelor of
science in international economics with a music minor, and she served as principal
violist of the university symphony. She then attended the University of Texas at
Austin, where she received a law degree and a master of arts in Latin American
studies. She has performed with various ensembles in Texas, New Mexico, and
California, including the Lubbock Symphony, Roswell Symphony, Austin Civic
Orchestra, West Hollywood Orchestra, and Santa Monica Symphony to name a few.

The Kaplan String Quartet is amazing and great to work with. Paul was so helpful and professional and responded to my emails (and I had plenty!) in timely manner. The ceremony and cocktail hour music was wonderful, which helped set the mood for an exciting reception. Thank you so much for spending your day with us! Justin & Masha.

I stumbled onto the Kaplan String Quartet website after scanning another website called Gigmasters, which is apparently a booking website used for musical groups. Kaplan String quartet had a ton of great reviews, and of course I read-- every single one-- and there was nothing but great feedback!

I went to their website and listened to their sample songs, and I really felt this would be that wonderful extra touch to the ceremony. In my opinion, music has the ability to really strike emotion and create the ambience, so I emailed the point person, Paul Dolid, to get more information.

Paul was very professional and pleasant over the phone! He essentially broke it all down into the timeline, answered all of my questions and made great suggestions!!

His group was wonderful and my now new-hubby, told me as he was waiting for me at the altar, the different songs they went through were flawless and really moved him.

When I walked into the ceremony, everything seemed like a dream and the music was perfect! I would definitely recomend them to any bride!!! Very Professional and worth every penny!!!!

The contact and the celloist for Kaplan String Quartet, Paul Dolid, was very nice and very accomodating when planning for our wedding. He responded to my phone calls and emails immediately; had very good suggestions for our ceremony; and was very flexible when discussing where they would play during the ceremony and at our reception. Plus, the string quartet played beautifully for our ceremony and received many compliments from our guests. The quartet also has a huge repetoire of music to choose from, both classical and contemporary!
