Ms. Kay Lynn is a great baker. The five-tier cake she made for my wedding was the most beautiful and elegant cake I have ever seen. It was so pretty, I almost didn't want to cut it. It was also delicious; I chose three flavors: strawberry, pineapple, and lemon curd. Each of them tasted great, but the lemon curd was my favorite. The only issue that came up was due to a breakdown in communication with the reception venue (which will be reviewed separately). Overall, I would highly recommend Kay Lynn Dawes.

My husband and I met Kay 7 months before our wedding. She was recommended by my venue. She was really nice, wrote down all our information, I even handed her pictures of what I wanted and she said it would work out perfectly.

Fast forward a few months. A lot of my emails were ignored, I was told to bring by my toppers because she "didn't trust me with them", and told me to stop by one day for the payment and she wasn't even home. Luckily I was able to leave it under the mat and she got it - and naturally cashed it the next day.

Now lets get to the wedding day. I didn't see Kay set up the cakes, obviously because I was getting ready. After the ceremony my mom makes me run down to the reception room because my cake was FALLING. Oh and it gets even better. My cake was not what I asked for. The color on my draping - which I specifically asked for was MISSING. After further inspection the piping along the layers was done very messy. My husband's cake was BEAUTIFUL and mine was a monstrosity. (I have seen 2 other cakes she has done at my venue and they were GORGEOUS, mine was sub par to those).

After a small bridezilla fit on my part, my maid of honor called her to find out what went wrong. She lied and told her that my coordinator had stacked the cake after she told her not to due to the heat. She also blamed it on my homemade cake stand being "unstable" (which it wasn't AT ALL), the cake stand she had bugged me about giving to her after I dropped off the toppers I wasn't trusted with.

It turns out Kay stacked the last 2 tiers of my cake TOTALLY crooked. The difference in spacing on either side of the cake was obvious. Not to mention there were NO SUPPORT BEAMS inside my cake. Guys, this was a 4 layer cake meant to serve 200 people and there was nothing inside supporting it... My husband's 2 layer cake had beams in it. This is all beyond me.

I am thankful for the fact Kay DID show up and was there for about an hour brushing color onto the draping on my cake. I do believe I deserve an apology however - I haven't gotten one.

I also unpacked all my wedding items today and found an envelope addressed to me inside. What was it? 4 days after my wedding? Cutting and freezing instructions. Did she give them to anyone? Nope. Apparently left it in the kitchen were NO ONE would find it. Awesome. Dropped the cake stands for my husband's cake at my venue's because I thought they belonged to them. NOPE they're Kay's and now I have to go make a special trip to get them since I just found this envelope.

Here is a picture of my poor dream cake (after she painted and put poles in it. you can tell it is still crooked): http://i54.tinypic.com/11lught.jpg

Kay's cake creations are AWESOME!! The cakes were decorated exactly as I wanted, looked wonderful (eveything was edible), and tasted great. She's extremely easy to get along with and does her best to decorate cakes as you want. AND - she delivers and sets up the cakes.
