La Cuisine is an amazing family-owned catering company. The wife, Linda runs the sales side, while her husband, Larry, is the chef. He has travelled all over the country by request of famous people, hotels, and venues to cook.

We couldn't have picked a better caterer for our wedding. Linda went above and beyond what your average caterer would do. She was like a wedding coordinator, who made sure everything for our reception was set up and ready. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and so juicy!

Our wedding was such a success because of their incredible work!

I loved working with La Cuisine. They were sensitive to our budget and extremely helpful in all the planning. Jessica even answered my calls on Sundays and was great at switching some things out for us so we could get exactly what we wanted. And the minute I walked into the reception she found a drink for me and made sure that even the unexpected need for another photographer's meal was taken care of. Loved them.

Jessica is extremely nice! Very willing to work with you and your budget. Had some difficulties when it came to final pricing due to our venue and the amount of staff that were added at the end. Reason why it was given 5/5.

Overall we were very happy with La Cuisine Catering. Service day off was flawless and both Linda and Jessica were there to make sure things went smoothly and that my husband and I and our guests were happy. Linda always made herself available to us if we had any questions and was flexible with the way we wanted to do things.

The tasting was very nice and the cake we decided on was delicious (and very pretty).

I think the whole process could have been a bit more structured/organized but that may just be and my need for organization :)

We were happy!

La Cuisine was a great vendor at our wedding. We worked with Jessica Schmidt. She was wonderful and I absolutely adored her. Everyone loved the food and the presentation was beautiful. They were very accommodating to all of our requests! The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because of the costs that were not given to us upfront. There were a lot of upgrades that we selected that we were not aware of. I would suggest you ask if any of your selections are upcharges so you are not shocked when you receive your final bill.

My tip would be to not hire this company. As a Wedding Photographer for over ten years now I have never experienced such unprofessionalism and rudeness from a catering company, ever in my life. Jessica the head coordinator seemed to be overwhelmed with her duties. As the room was not set up in a timely fashion, they ran out of two domestic beers being miller and bud light with in the first half hour of cocktail hour and there was only 150 guests. My assistant and I waited patiently for our Vendor boxed lunch as all the guests got served. In the hallway where she paniced as they were 15 dinner plates short and droped a whole tray of lids. And was snippy with us as if it were our fault she could not efficiently do her job. And when it came to the boxed lunch it was very bland and came with plain chips. My assistant had the veggie wrap and became ill today for the veggies in the wrap were rancid. I'm not sure where the cake was from but it was very dry and the frosting was very rubbery, however later when more pieces were served the cake was better.

La Cuisine Catering, Linda, and her staff did an amazing job with my September 2012 wedding! Linda was great to work with while planning my wedding, she was very easy to get a hold of by phone, her cell, and/or email. If Linda wasn't available her staff handle my questions with no problem and Linda was always good about getting back to me in a timely fashion. Linda is a vibrant woman she made planning my wedding fun. Also Linda had great ideas and suggestions. On my wedding day everything that I choose and decided with my wedding was done, Linda made sure I had everything that I wanted and that I was happy with everything, which I was very happy (I changed my ceremony setup a day before my wedding and Linda handle the new setup I wanted with no problem). My venue looked awesome! The food was absolutely delicious, all my guests kept coming up to me commenting how great the food was. The wait staff was wonderful! Very organized, super efficient, they were very nice, and polite and they kept asking my guests and myself if we were good and if we needed anything. They also were great with making sure my new Husband and I got some apps and dessert they were waiting for us on our table throughout the night. They also handle our late guests in stride getting their food to them nice and hot. My new Husband and I were very happy with La Cuisine Catering and Linda. If we ever have an opportunity we will choose Linda and La Cuisine Catering again!

I hired LaCuisine for our wedding. Thank goodness I didn't have the same experience as the review before me, but a few things did go awry. Our wedding coordinator also quit 2 weeks before our wedding. Leaving us to finalize the last minute details with Linda- who I believe is the owner. She was helpful, but it was difficult to get a hold of her. I like to email back in forth to have things in writing, but everytime I emailed her- no response. I was thankful that she came to our venue the day before our wedding to make sure we were happy with how everything was set up and our linens were put down. Everything was ordered correctly. That helped a lot and put my mind at ease on our big day. She did voice her opinion, and she had her own vision of how things should be set up, but I tried to listen and in the end she's the professional. I was a bit disappointed with the cake. It tasted great, but I asked for a navy blue trim and got the brightest ocean blue you could ask for. It didn't match the rest of our decor at all. Our guest said the food was good- I would agree. In the end we had a great day. It could have went better, but it could have been a lot worse too!

I wish I could gush and gab about La Cuisine, but I can't bring myself to do it. I got married a year and a half ago and am still having trouble writing a review for them because I'm a huge proponent of emphasizing the positive in a company, but alas, I have to be honest to spare other brides the dismay I experienced with La Cuisine.

We signed on with La Cuisine Catering because we liked the coordinator - who would also be our wedding planner. I started my planning early (Sean and I were engaged for a year and a half) and wasted no time in meeting with our caterer/planner. I guess our working relationship was so good that this planner eventually called me up one day and started offloading all her personal issues onto me that included, but were not limited to, an eating disorder, depression, and abuse experienced as a child. I totally felt for her and tried to be as good a listener and "friend" as possible for as long as she needed, the whole time feeling totally unprepared to help this person I'd only spoken with a handful of times and only about my appetizer and napkin color choices. Highly unprofessional, exhibit #1. About a month or two later, when I couldn't get a hold of her in her office, I finally got a call back from one of the owners, Linda, who co-owns the company with her husband who is the chef. Linda briefly explained that my previous planner had left the company, blah blah blah, and that she would take over my account. She tried to pitch it like I was lucky to have her as my planner since she came with 25+ years of industry experience. I didn't need to be convinced - after all, we had no choice. We had already signed the contract! Then my conversation with Linda took an even stranger turn. She'd ask me what I'd want in regards to my, say, color scheme, and about halfway through my answer, she'd interrupt and give me an idea she thought was "better" and gave me an example of another bride who had done what she suggested and it looked lovely. That happened with every single topic we spoke about - always my beginning to tell her what I wanted, then her interrupting me with a better idea. It went that way for the entire year and a half before our wedding day. I'll spare you ALL the stories, but trust me, there was no deficit of bad conversations.

Eventually, I got into the habit of putting it all in an email - so I could have it in writing - and then, when she didn't respond (and she almost never did), I'd have to call her assistant, Lindsay, who'd confirm for her that, yes, she in fact did read it and would get back to me later. Which she also most often didn't do either.

Our tasting was lame. A lot of the food was good, but she always gave my Maid of Honor and I this funny "you-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about" look when we asked that the raspberry vinaigrette be replaced with something that didn't make our teeth hurt when we ate it or when I needed to be reassured that the chicken wouldn't be dry and overcooked on the wedding day as it was in the tasting. She also didn't/couldn't give us a cake tasting (isn't that the most fun part of these things?) because "it didn't make sense to [her] to make an entire cake just for the two of [us] to taste it." That made sense to me at the time, but later on my wedding day I realized my mistake when my cake not only looked cheap, but tasted like mocha-flavored cardboard. Safeway could have done better.

Fast forward to the week of the wedding. She forgot a lot of the things we had discussed in the year and a half prior - all of which, like I said, was in writing in her email inbox - leaving me no choice but to sit with her for hours again, going over all my preferences. She also ordered the wrong color napkins and tablecloths (bright pink instead of dark plum), and insisted that that was the color I'd wanted all along. Then, after all of that, she hands me a bill saying that she accidentally undercharged us by $2,000 and we had to wire the money to her THAT DAY, or else nothing would be ready for the wedding 6 days later. This is where I should tell you that my husband and I live in San Francisco, but La Cuisine is a suburb of Chicago. Every phone call was long distance, every in-person meeting was a flight out there, and any scheduling had to take into account the 2-hour time difference. So you can imagine my frustration when not only had I gone to great lengths to plan early so as to avoid these issues, but also that every effort I put into the planning didn't matter because I had to repeat it all anyway days before the wedding.

Then, finally, the wedding day arrives. It rains on my outdoor ceremony - not La Cuisine's fault - but meant that we still had to pay for the seats, tables, and linens that were outside though we didn't use them. I'm totally fine with that - that all makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that, though I gave her a very specific and clear seating chart with the dishes each guest requested (beef, chicken, vegetarian, or children's), La Cuisine's servers still decided to go to every table and re-ask what everybody wanted, presenting it as if they had enough of each to go around. Also, the servers presented the vegetarian dish as Lasagna, instead of the vegetarian dish. Unfortunately, most of my guests didn't remember what they had ordered on their RSVP or felt like they were allowed to change their mind because of the servers' presentation of the menu, so everything got mixed up. Also unfortunately, turns out that a lot of the guests, when given the choice, chose lasagna (again, not realizing it was meant for the vegetarians of the group), which left the vegetarians at our reception picking the broccoli and carrots off of neighbors' plates since there weren't enough lasagna plates to go around, as the servers had made it seem. Don't even get me started on the three children's meals we ordered. How they messed that up, I'm not sure.

La Cuisine's only saving grace is Lindsay, who was once Linda's assistant, but was eventually promoted to event coordinator. I got the impression that she tried to cover for Linda's absence much of the time and did most of the work, though I'm sure she didn't get commission for it. She was super responsive, very very very friendly, and was so kind and professional on the wedding day - she helped my guests run in from the rain though she was soaked to the bone herself, found us another solution to continue our ceremony, and even volunteered to clean up the sopping wet lumieres that lined the grounds so my bridal party and I wouldn't have to do it after the reception ended. If I could clone Lindsay and populate the world with people like her, it'd be an even more fantastic place to be. If La Cuisine could clone Lindsay, it'd be a company worth working with. But until that happens, brides, don't bother.
