I do not want to harm anyone, and thankfully my experience was not as awful as some others but it was still stressful to say the least.I was referred to this establishment through a major wedding web site. My wedding was at the end of June and this was the first week in February.I had shopped around for bridesmaid dresses and went to this one. Their price was lower than some of the more well known stores, so I went with this one. They pushed and insisted that I needed to put a rush fee on the dresses(there were 5 ordered) so they can come in by end of March. The girls reluctantly did so. When it came time to pay, the credit card machine was "broken", so the girls had to pay cash for the deposit. During this process, I saw a dress for my mom and brought her in the next day. The price was a little hefty but Michelle offered to throw in the alterations and lower the price if mom paid cash.

So, the end of March came and the bridesmaid dresses were supposed to have come. Not to be a pain, I waited until 2 weeks into April to call and the dresses was told they hadn't come in. They said call at the end of the week. Not to be a pain again, I waited until the following week and nothing.

During this time, a bridesmaid had googled this store and text me right away to read the horrible things that the owner of this store has history business-wise with (taking orders and money and then closing up shop). My heart sank and this brought utter fear and panic to an already stressful situation. My husband worked in Yonkers and one of my bridemaids lives there, so I had them do drive by's every day to make sure they were still there. Finally, we are in mid May. They called to tell me mom's dress was ready. I went in to pick it up for her and they told me it wasn't ready. My dresses hadn't come in yet so I called to try and reach Michelle but the salesgirl who sold me the dresses answered. I complained to her about my mom's dress and my bridesmaid dresses and her telling me the dresses would be delivered in March (to which she called me a liar and told me she said no such thing).
My mom went in to get her dress and get it the heck out of there. My mom saw my bridemaid dresses in a group on the floor as a sample for other people to try and called me. (BTW-they butchered my mom's dress. It had a train which they cut off, and the top portion was cut unevenly and too tight for my mom. A friend had to refer my mom to a wonderful woman on City Island who altered it for next to nothing. She had to take the dress apart and practically make a new dress. Even with this, my mom wore this new dress for my ceremony and it was so uncomfortable, had to change out of it for my reception and wore the dress she used at my brother's wedding....ALOT of money wasted and lost). Anyway, I called my girls and told them we have to get the dresses out of there.I went in with 3 of my girls and demanded the dresses. Not to mention 3 out of the 5 dresses were ordered 2 sizes too big. The alterations that my girls had to go out and do, they could have bought other dresses.I complained to Michelle who raised her voice at me when I listed to her all that had happened:
1-the rush fee paid for dresses that came 2 months later
2-me being called a liar for what was stated to me upon ordering the dresses
3-calling to say a dress is ready, we make the trip and it isn't ready
4-my dresses being put out on the floor for people to try on when these are dresses that were paid for, not filthy dress samples
5-for butchering my mother's dress to the point that she could not wear it for my full wedding.
6-for her raising her voice at me when I am not insulting but merely stating factual events that I had experienced in doing business with this store.
7-Never did she try and make ammends or help the situation. It was our own problem.

Again, I do not want to harm anyone's reputation and I do not know why this business practices as it does but we are not wealthy people and we lost out on money from my moms dress. If she was going to wear another dress she already had, why would she spend almost a thousand dollars on a dress from Michelle's shop? I am glad that nothing worse happened to me as I have read and seen so many brides who have been swindled by this business. My heart goes out to them. I cannot imagine that happening.

I also feel it is unfair of Michelle to say that these brides have a sense of entitlement and do not want to abide by contracts. Every bridal shop has a contract, and we are aware of that when we order dresses...it seems to me the brides know what a contract is, but does Michelle Mears?

LADIES BEWARE This is the worst place ever!I have a similiar nightmare story to everyone else's. The owner goes by multiple names and multiple store names. She told me that her name was Alexa, but to others she is Mary, Bella,... I originally went to her location in Dobbs Ferry, and put my deposit down. Three weeks after I purchased the dress I went back because my sister wanted to see the dress. When i got to the store it was a mess, I thought they were getting ready to do a bridal show. I tried on the floor model dress for my sister, and during the hour that I was there not once did they mention that they were moving!!! Three months after that I stopped by again to make a payment. well needless to say I was shocked to find that la bella couture no LONGER EXSISTED!!!! So I called the number on my contract and left a message. The voice mail did not make any mention of moving locations changing names nothing!! When I finally received a call back, the message left was so unprofessional. They had no record of who I was, they lost my paperwork, or so they saY. At this point my husband got involved and called the store.Well his luck was as good as mine. When he called to ask about the new location he was hung up on twice before he was able to finish his sentence. Their excuse was that have been getting prank calls...I wonder why!! Needless to say after my husband spoke to them I was still very concerned so my husband and I went down to the new location. When I got their I asked to speak withthe manager which took forever!!! They asked me for my name several times because they could not find my paperwork. They even had the nerve to ask if I was sure that my name was Carissa, and she insisted that it was Cara. After some time they found my paperwork, gave me a copy so i could feel more comfortable. I dont know why she thought this would make me more comfortable I had my paperwork the whole time. The owner also insisted that she called me, again another lie!!! She blamed the other disgrace that works there. Oh and proceeded to tell me that she fired that woman, which was another lie because I saw her hiding in the back. At this point, months before the wedding it was too late to back out now and she refused to give me a a refund for the 2000.00 that I already put down. My dresss was supposed to arrive in January... but it did not. Half way through January I called and yet another shocked they moved locations again!!!! No phone no nothing from them. This time they changed the stores name to Alexa bridal but I had no idea where they moved to. Lucky for me my husband works in YOnker. When i told him what happened, he said that a bridal shop just opened up down the road from him and he would check it out. Sure enough alexa, Mary...etc was smoking her cig in front of her new location. So my husband went in and had an altecation with her about her lack of professsionalism. She assured my husand that a post card went out that they moved. She explained that there was a flood in the old store and a sign went throughthe roof. More lies!!! Days later I received a phone call that my dress was finally in. So my sister and I went down for my first fitting. As soon as I put the dress on I knew something was not righ. They were struggling to close the back which was crazy because I ordered a dress that was 3 sizes up from the floor model I tried on. In addition I lost about 15 pounds and 6 inches. Looking down at dress I could see little rips and when my sister belled out the dress we saw the HUGE water stain at the bottom. So maybe she didnt lie about the flood because the evidence was on what I thought was my dress but came to realize was the original floor model that I originally tried on. The lable and the size of the dress were of course ripped out. Well this is when all hell broke loss. We had to have the woman that Alexa said she fired call alexa. Alexa and that woman proceeded to fight because alexa said that the manufacture sent a flawed dress. but she could not explain why there would be ripped out tags. At this point I was demanding my money back but of course the contract states no refunds. so i took my pictures and threatened to sue her. So she agreed to sign a contract stating that may dress would be here as of march 5th and if it is not then I would get my money back. well she faxed over the unsirned contract which lacked all the details we spoke of. so we had to get her back on the phone again, and we received a signed contact. Funny thing was that she signed it Bella not Alexa. My dress ended up getting there before the contacted day.as soon as i got the call I was heading down there to get the dress. I told her that I wanted to come in that day for the fitting. of course she said fine. an hour later i get a phone call all the money needs to be paid in full if i want to pick up the dress and their credit card machine is not working so i have to pay cash. i had to figure out how to find 2000.00 cash. Good thing for my mother and her co workers because they all pooled their money together so i could pick up my dress. Half way down to Yonkers i receive a phone call from the woman at the store stated that she had an emergency and had to leave the store. I then proceeded to call alexa and tell her that I received this call and was not accepting the idea of picking up the dress another day. when i arrived at the store it closed and the lights were off. I called and banged on the door like a crazy woman. Finally the disgrace of a woman came to the door. Well finally my dress was there! I paid the money, but needed change. She proceeded to tell me that she didnt have 10.00 change and she really thought that I was just going to let her snake me out of more money. I tld her that she should be giving me more money back since I paid for alterations and i was not having her do it. well i got my ten dollars back and not a penny more. So I left with my new dress, and my dirty used tool for under the dress. I have taken a lot of time to write this review and i do not wish to bore you with any details but please beware and do not use this woman. It is for real!! Another woman that I met had the same exact problem!!!! This Alexa woman shows all signs of being addicted to crack

Where do I begin...this entire experience with her was a nightmare. Michelle is VERY unorganized, unprofessional, rude, and everything else negative a business person could be. i did not recieve my dress until a WEEK before my wedding which is good timing compared to other stories I've heard. And prior to that she claimed to had lost my dress in FedEx because she moved to Yonkers, NY and chanded the name of her shop to Alexa Bridal and didnt tell anyone. I wouldnt have found out she had a new location if i never would have called her. She then proceeded to tell me that if i didnt pay my balance before fedex delivered that "she wasnt taking it off the truck" (her exact words). I told her i wasnt going to pay for anything i hadnt seen how did that work. she never recorded my payments and was constantly telling me that i owed more than i actually did. good thing i keep copies of EVERYthing including cashed checks! She was extremely desperate for money at one point she blamed the recession for her behavior and she desperatly needed to pay off some debt. what business is that of mine lady! the only business i should have been worried about was my dresss and she couldnt even get that right!! I'm asahamed to admit it but silly me gave her the benefit of the doubt and ordered my bridemaids dresses through her as well. My maid of honor's dress came in the wrong color another bridemaid dress came in two sizes too big! originally she told me alterations for the girls would be no more than $50 which was not bad at all, until it came time for alteration and the lady claimed she was an independent worker and was making her own prices so her price was almost $200 for alterations!!! We had to fight tooth and nail to get the prices down but we did. The alterations lady also had an issue with my dress because of my extended train she had to put 28 bustles and she would let me forget how much time that was...I ordered my vail and tiara from her The veil showed up but the tiara never did. And then the most upsetting part was we decided to add on these beautiful crystal straps to my dress i waited and i waited and the straps didnt com in until maybe a week or so before the wedding the seamtress put one side with the dress on and the other side with dress OFF they ended up popping off the dress before i even got to my ceremony. i will never return to this vendor especially since i found out that a little less than a week after my wedding date i passed by the store and it was completely vacant my heart goes out to all the girls who placed orders with her. Do your research ladies she is scam artist! the dress is supposed to be the most exciting part of wedding planning it wasnt for me and i have Michelle Maers to thank for that...BUYERS BEWARE!!

This was the worst experience I ever had. Michelle Mears is the owner. She pretends to be a designer and calls herself Michelle Lee. How original? The store smells of smoke and is a mess. She tears the labels out of the dresses and claims to have designed it. That is a lie. I sae my Casablanca in a wedding magazine. She claimed it was her design. She did offer me a good price, but I lost more in frustration. I booked an appointment and when I showed up she said that I wasn't in the book., but she would try to fit me in. I spent the whole afternoon in the store. It wasn't that busy but mMichelle kept leaving for a cigarette, a phone cal and god knows what. I waited a whole hour for her to return. I finally picked out the dress and ordered it. She said she needed a 50% deposit. I told her that I would like to take the contract home. She said, that she couldn't allow unsigned contracts out of the store in case her competition got a hold of it. That should have been my tip off.
Someone from the store called me to come in for a fitting that my dress had come in. When I got to the store they couldn't find my dress. Michelle apologized. She said that her husband had taken it by mistake and it was in the trunk of his car. WHAT? Thats right it was in his trunk. They call me nteh next week and tell me to come in my dress is ready. When I get there they bring out this smelly (smoke) stained dress. I don't think it was in her husband's car, I think he was wearing it. It was a used dress. Shee tells me that the factory sent a sample and she could take 10% off. I am furious, but it is 1 month before my wedding. She agrees to take 20% off. I say ok but I better have a clean dress in a week. A week goes by and no dress. I can't even get Michelle on the phone. The sales person tells me that I need an appointment to call Miss Lee. I finally get the dress a week before the wedding. I still smells, though the stain is gone. Now they won't give me the 20% off. If I don't pay in full, I can't get the dress. What I am I supposed to do before the wedding? Michelle will not take my calls.
Stay away, far away. Nothing but lies from Miss Michelle Mears, who calls herself Lee.

My dress came in over a month later than originally projected. Thankfully I gave them an earlier wedding date on purpose. The seamstress that she had alter my dress did a HORRENDOUS job. I ordered a fancy hair clip, taira and jewlery that had to be sent to me by one day Fedex because they couldn't find them!!! Then when I received it, none of it was what I had ordered. Thankfully I had backup jewlery and my mom knew how to sew my dress so it wouldn't have fit crazy big on the top. They almost ruined my wedding day look and I wouldn't recommend that shop to my worst enemy. Check out http://www.projectwedding.com/vendor/show/le-bella-couture-atelier for more horror stories.

This vendor is beyond description. The store manager/owner is extremely unorganized and to be quite frank, not trustworthy. To say that I would not recommend this bridal shop to my worst enemy is an understatement. All one needs to do is visit this shop only once to see a dissatisfied customer, I've seen at least 4 in my visits and will likely partner with them on legal action. Only after I booked this vendor did I begin to hear stories of arguments, 'miscommunications', mistakes on orders- including ordering the wrong bridal gown! My particular issue revolves around bridesmaid dresses that were ordered in the wrong color, incorrect contracts and 'inclusions', the misrepresentation of getting new dresses and ultimately promises of refunds that were not honored.

This vendor is very unorganized. I tried on quite a few dresses there and when I was about to pick the dress I liked she wanted a deposit right then and there and became irrate stating " Well I don't give prices like this so if you don't take it now, you can forget it!" So I walked out the store and never went back. She doesn't even write your name and number down in order to check the progress of your wedding plans. I didn't feel comfortable leaving a deposit with someone so inconsistent. Buyer beware.
