Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
What primary photographic style do you identify with?
What do your packages include?
Albums, Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, Flush Mount, High Resolution Images, Prints, Proof CD of All Images, Video Montage
Do you have liability insurance?
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
For no extra charge, I offer black and white, sepia tone, and black and white with color splashed in to pictures. I usually tend to do a handful of pictures and include them in the final proofs, but if you want me to do a certain picture, I'd be happy to oblige.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have experience with most lighting situations. Living in Chicago, you almost have to. I have shot weddings in candle lit rooms, in perfect lighting situtations and under tungsten and flourecent lights. On bright sunny days and overcast days. Each one has their pros and cons, but I've overcome some of the worst lighting situations and the pictures have turned out great.
Is your media preference film or digital?
I work with digital media.
How many photographers do you work with?
I am the principal photographer and I have a second photographer who comes along if she is hired.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes I do.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
No, I have never booked two weddings in one day. I have booked two weddings in one weekend before.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
I have two replacement photographers. They both know the dates of my booked weddings and they know they are expected to jump in should anything happen to me or my family. They are both professional photographers and they both have the same sense of style as I do.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I bring my both my Canon EOS 50D & my Canon EOS 40D, three high end lenses, two bounce flashes, and battery pack. I do not bring a studio set up (background, overhead lights) because I am not a portrait photographer and it takes away from the actual event.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, I have an entire back up camera with lenses and flash should my camera malfunction.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
I charge full day. Some of the best shots I have gotten have been when the bride is getting ready, or when the reception is winding down. This is the bride and groom's day, and I want them to have memories of it all.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I take one major break during dinner at the reception and during the dancing at the reception, I may slip out to call my husband or my babysitter.
Do you charge for travel?
Not unless it is over 100 miles one way.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Typically 3-4 weeks.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Initial proofs are online on a password protected website for the couple and the wedding guests to view. After that, the couple will be given a proofbook and a CD with all of their pictures.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
The proofbook and CD are theirs to keep.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I retain the copyrights, but I also give full copyright privlages to the bride and groom with their CD - low and high resolution.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes, each bride and groom will be given digital files of their wedding. The first few packages it is in low resolution, and the last few packages, it is in high resolution. The high resolution CD is also available for purchase.
