They say that “necessity is the mother of invention,” and the adage was never more appropriate than in the case of LUXE Destination Weddings co-founders Tara and Matt Soloway. After months of planning their own destination wedding in Jamaica, and wishing that a service existed that would maintain the integrity of their vision without their need to be involved in every small detail, LUXE was born.

Tara worked as a senior editor for lifestyle and travel publications, and Matt, as a corporate lawyer, prior to founding LUXE. They collectively agreed that LUXE needed to exist to help people just like themselves, so Matt and Tara assembled a stellar team of destination wedding professionals.

I am a guest of a bride who is using Luxe Destination Wedding and have to say this is the worst company I have ever booked lodging with. Due to my pregnancy I can not travel, have a doctors note, and the coordinator Jackie Courbet would not provide me 1) Documentation I signed confirming there was no refund/transfer 2) Contact for a manager to escalate a credit or refund. I myself have had a destination wedding. I would be super upset if my guests had customer service like this.

I will never use a service like this again. Next time I will work directly with the hotel versus an agency that scams customers. I insisted the bride not get involved with escalating this further since she shouldn't have to worry about her guests when planning a wedding. I feel bad for her that she has to work with this company. I would NOT Recommend this company to a bride.

As one of the other posters mentioned, the average score can't go lower than the 1 star, which is unfortunate as they're service was less than the 1 star minimum required.

Firstly, I'd like to start by saying we're not high maintenance people. As long as people do somewhat what they say they're going to do, we're pretty happy for the most part. I only make sure to say this as most times when I read these posts, I always wonder how realistic these peoples expectation actually are. Aren't weren't high and we were disappointing by even that standard!

We had to speak to 3 different representatives, each less competent than the last. Fine, it happens, good help is hard to find. We explained that we'd be travelling with our new born son for the first time and wanted to be upgraded to the Elite Plus. We also asked for some basic things to be provided by the hotel for our baby. Things like a crib and a quite room. We were told there was nothing they could do over the phone and we'd have to rake it up with the hotel at arrive. Weird but whatever.

We were then told that they couldn't confirm the seats until the seating for the plane come out. When it did, we received an email asking to confirm the Elite Plus, which we did and were told it was all set, in May.

Now in October, we're told by a new representative that NO ONE in the party of 35 has Elite Plus and well too bad, there was a mistake made and there's nothing they can do. Not the bride or groom, the older family members or babies have any reserved seats, even though we were told the seats were confirmed 6 MONTHS ago!

In trying to escalate the situation, the customer service manager, Brenda was no help what so ever. Her go to response was yes they made a mistake but there's nothing they could do. No comps, no discounts, no alternative flights, nothing. When I asked to speak to the owners of the company she laughed at me and told me she was the last stop.

Mandy was very helpful in finding us a desired location for our wedding. We were so pleased with our choice, and I was very particular what I had wanted. We ended up going with Dreams Palm Beach but we had our wedding at the Jellyfish Restaurant. Alexandra helped us plan our dream wedding from there and it truly was our dream wedding. Although the wedding coordinator at the Jellyfish was let go, we became very stressed, however Alexandra reassured us that this would not affect our wedding at all as it will be just as beautiful with the new coordinators and it certainly was with all of her help. Christy was responsible for booking all of the guests a room at the dreams resort. A few of our guests complained that she wasn’t very nice to them, which i found surprised because she was always nice to me. When we go to the resort we had a catamaran planned but Christy had mentioned that we would not be able to book this until we arrived on site and when we arrived in the Dominican Republic they said we had to have booked it 2 weeks prior. I had a meltdown and Christy was out of the office, so I became overwhelmed with stress. I called Alexandra who had taken over from there, she contacted Sunwing and had the whole thing resolved for us to attend the catamaran cruise as a large group. We truly appreciate everything that Luxe has done to make our wedding spectacular and we have heard nonstop about how amazing our wedding was! Well worth every penny!!

Luxe destination weddings worked very hard to help me find the perfect resort for my wedding. That process took about 6 months and eventually I found the perfect resort at the perfect price!

Once my family started booking their trips with Luxe, things went downhill. They kept claiming that their emails weren't going through to explain why they weren't getting back to people. My Mother-in-Law was waiting for her travel documents (2 months before the wedding) and when I followed up with Luxe it turned out that they never even did the paperwork to book her trip in the first place! This is worse company I have ever done business with.

Here's my story...My fiance and I chose a destination wedding in Mexico. Since we both have demanding jobs we decided to use a travel agent to help coordinate everyone's trip. Good decision on our part since we have 65 people attending from all over the US. It was my decision to use LUXE Destination weddings because of their "connections" with our resort. Once we signed up we were tossed to two people and ended up with Jessika. Jessika was the most obnoxious person to work with.
You would think as a travel agent there would be reminder emails sent out every once in while to say "Hey guys just want to remind you there is month left for deposits" but she didn't. I would have to send them.

Then Jessika would take a week off every month along with a few sporadic days here and there (must be nice).... She would never put her away message on so no one knew she was not in the office. So their questions where just ignored for the week she was gone as well the following week, because it took her at least 7 working days to respond to your email.

Once we started to send out CC authorizations for deposits, our quests would send them back, with no response. So no one new if she had the authorization or if they had a room or anything. At the very beginning of this my fiance and I put down a $6000.00 for a room block for our guests. This held 20 rooms. Now the deal was when guest book their rooms they put down their own deposit relieving our responsibility for that one room.... Well Ms smarty pants told people that they did not need to put their own deposit down bc we (my fiance and I) had d

Buyer beware! Luxe was horrible to work with and there was much stress and plenty of tears along the way. The costs for flights and hotel rooms were significantly higher than if we had gone directly through the hotel and there were hidden costs and deadlines that kept cropping up as we proceeded (additional thousands!). When we could not get answers from Luxe we worked directly through the hotel, only to discover that the problems were not with the hotel but with Luxe. Also, there is a second layer of "middle men" between Luxe and the hotel so it was difficult to get answers and solve issues. It was only after we directly contacted the wedding planner at the hotel that questions were answered. Using Luxe was more expensive and more hassle than if we had simply used a travel agent. Also, this company is in Canada so there is no one to complain to if you have claims, such as the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General's office. I would never recommend this company.

After a few months of saving my then Fiance and I were shopping around for the best destination wedding planners that Toronto had to offer. After half a dozen of consultations, and hours and hours of research we decided to go with Luxe. They had a big office, fancy site and all of the works of a solid destination wedding planner and I am very glad I decided to work with them. Right from the start our wedding planner Shir was hard working, considerate, professional and gave us numerous suggestions, and answers for every questions we asked no matter how silly. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous, everything was just the way we liked it and flipping through the photos right now is a great feeling, our wedding was absolutely perfect. I want to also give a big hug to our photographer, the photos look lovely! Thanks for everything Luxe, Shir you guys were great!

My husband and I are just settling back into our home after our wonderful wedding in Nassau, Bahamas. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, I didn't want it to end! I would like to thank Luxe and especially Mandy for going the extra mile for us and being highly motivated to make our wedding as perfect as it can possibility be. Our Family and Friends really enjoyed themselves and they said it was one of the best weddings they have been to. I tried planner our own wedding a few months ago and after a few failed attempts we decided to hire Luxe. I am not a very punctual person in general and having Carla there, my assigned wedding planner to help us every step of the way was definitely a great feeling. I want to thank her for all of her patience, there were numerous times where I would just forget the time, event, and Carla would have to constantly remind me what was going on or I would of forgot half of the things that we needed for our wedding!

After seeing all of the amazing things Sandals La Source Grenada Resort & Spa has to offer we decided to get married there, everything was like a wonderful dream and the wedding was great! The seafood, decor, loved every bit of it. I want to give Carla a big hug for all of the wonderful work she has done and Luxe for doing such a fabulous job!

The perspective from a guest at a destination wedding where the bride and groom used Luxe Destination Weddings out of Toronto. Highly Disappointed!!!!
The things that went wrong.
1. They screwed up the date of the wedding. They booked the following week and were unable to switch back to the original wedding date.
2. Had 3 or 4 different travel planners so no consistency and added to mistakes and confusion.
3. They screwed up my reservation!!!! Invoice sent to me lists my full payment for single occupancy yet they booked me in as a double occupancy. 2 months later and one week before departure to wedding destination I receive email notification that I'm being refunded the difference and randomly placed a stranger (to me) but a member of the guests to this wedding into the shared room. When I spoke to the wedding planner, they assured me it would be fixed when we arrive. BIG mistake. No resolution. I was stressed, ended up several times in TEARS. I nearly had a nervous breakdown! I'm trying not to upset the bride and groom. The hotel would not put me in a single occupancy as my invoice clearly states double occupancy. When phoned Luxe they were unreachable as we got answering machines. So picture after the long day of travel to spend 3 hours trying to resolve my reservations, can't get a hold of Jackie (last travel agent) and finally the guy at the desk was gonna comp one night for me in my own room until we hear back from the travel agent. Otherwise they were gonna ask for $1800 additional for me to pay to have my own room. Plus they wanted me to reserve the room on my credit card for the one night. I refused. I'm not forking over more money for Luxe's mistakes.
Resolution was I ended having another crying fit, unable to relax as I'm worried about my reservation. Forced with share with the stranger or pay up the $1800 for my own room. Luxe did nothing to help. I opted to share with my sister, my mother and my nephew. Thanks Sofa bed!!!!
