The Metropolitan Building is just magical. It's charming, elegant, laid-back, and quirky (in a good way). We got married on the 2nd floor. There are three separate areas for ceremony/dancing, dinner, and cocktails. We loved that there was movement and that we weren't stuck in one big room all night. They have an extensive collection of props that you can use to decorate the space, but we didn't have to do much because the place itself already has so much character.

The process for planning a wedding here is very DIY, but we were in good hands. Carlos, the manager, was such a gem. We had so many questions in the months leading up to our wedding and he was always quick to respond. He also makes sure that everything runs smoothly on the day of. We used the in-house caterer, too, and got so many compliments on the food.

I was a bride on a budget, and I have to say, the rates here are incredibly reasonable compared to other places of the same ilk. Highly recommend it!

This was one of the most memorable details of the wedding! Our guests are still talking about how amazing our wedding venue was. Our wedding had a 1920's vintage theme, and The Metropolitan Building was the perfect space for it.

I loved the fact that all of the props within the building were available for use! Minimal decor was needed. Carlos and his team were phenomenal and very accommodating. Our ceremony began at 11:00 am, and Carlos allowed us to arrive extra early for set up! That was so helpful. Our guests had the time of of their lives, and the pictures in this space were breathtaking! Absolutely recommend.

I got married on the second floor in October and it was the perfect venue for us! It's beautiful, quirky, and ecetelctic - definitely not your average banquet hall. Carlos is absolutely amazing - there is no need to hire a day of coordinator because he will handle it all for you. He and his team set up and hung out lights for us the day of and they made sure everything went smoothly the whole night. We had no problems! The communication can seem old fashioned there (they don't really email) but you just have to go with it. Carlos is clearly a wedding pro! We also used the caterer Sasha and were very pleased with that too. If you are looking for somewhere different to get married in NYC the metropolitan building is absolutely the way to go!

What is there to say about this piece of heaven in LIC? Every single one of our guests was blown away by the aesthetic and couldn't say enough about how it was visually so incredibly lovely. We had an evening wedding on the 2nd floor and the twinkly lights and chandeliers caused the space to glow. The only memory I have of walking into the ceremony was seeing my groom and the golden lights against the twilight outside. It was so cozy and warm.

The third floor provides an incredible spot for photos - so much texture and great backdrops and the lighting through the big windows is beautiful. Our photographer (Keith Ferris) called it a photographer's playground. The venue also allows you to use all of the onsite vintage furniture to decorate so you can customize the space to your own vision....definitely NOT a wedding factory. In fact, I asked for some chairs to be arranged for elderly guests for the cocktail hour and they set up beautiful seating arrangements with vintage couches and chairs.

Amanda Bruns is a delight to work with. She is responsive and helpful. Absolutely makes things easier. Carlos, the facilities manager, is fabulous and has a great staff who are so willing to work with you and help.

The only thing that is less than perfect is that the in-house caterer, Sasha, is not as responsive early on in the process. She gets completely fine as you get towards your date - within 2-3 weeks of the event - but if you are someone who wants more hands on guidance, understand that this will eventually happen with excellent results. HER FOOD IS AMAZING. We got tremendous feedback on how good everything was, and we also enjoyed a very delicious tasting several months ahead of time so we had an idea of what to expect. There are literally 5 pages of options for hors d'oeurves and main courses and the Cheese Plate during cocktail hour!! How can I explain the joy I got from seeing a giant, beautiful selection of my favorite food!

I cannot say enough positive things about this place and will be forever happy to know I had my wedding here. Our family and friends were truly impressed with the place (2nd floor) and all the character it had. Here are some highlights:

- They have an open house every Saturday fro 10-2pm, so it made it very easy for us to view it many times. Though the first time we ever saw it, we had to place a deposit right away. It was exactly what we were looking for in terms of look, feel and price.
- Amanda and Carlos are amazing human beings! Amanda was my main contact through the planning process and she was very accessible and prompt at responding. A day or two before the wedding and the day of, Carlos was your go to guy and he made sure you had everything you needed. They were so flexible and accommodating, it's almost ridiculous as I was used to hearing so many rules from other venues.
- You do not have to use their caterer though they do offer a discount if you do. You can bring in your own vendors and best of all, the liquor so that really helped us save a lot of money. Plus it was great to hear positive reviews/experience from past vendors who worked at The Metropolitan Building.
- Props galore! The fact that they have props for you to select from is fantastic. If you want to have an Anthropologie photo shoot experience, THIS IS THE PLACE! You get to select them 1 week beforehand and Carlos ensures that all of the props are delivered to the 2nd floor the day of.
- Great price and no minimums on a Saturday night! Again, a breath of fresh air as my guest count was only 100 people.

If you want a beautiful backdrop for your wedding with great partners to work with on-site, then this is the place for you. They make planning SO EASY and you will receive so many compliments from family and friends. Everyone loved the fact that it was strange walking into an abandoned looking warehouse, only to walk into a grand, beautiful "palace." Like my own little Versailles!

We had our reception on the 4th floor of the Metropolitan Building in August, 2015 and it was an amazing venue. Everyone commented that the place is absolutely gorgeous and it was one of the best weddings they ever attended. My wedding reception was more beautiful than what I imagined it would be. While they are very laid back and not as formal as other venues (no contract, most communications done by phone, receipts are hand written, etc.), that turned out to be positive as they were more flexible and accommodating. You just need to make sure you ask as many questions as you can think of as nothing is in writing. Also, you need to do your own decoration but we loved that as we could make the place look however we wanted it to look. You also need to provide your own alcohol, ice and other drinks but that really cut our costs down, and it allowed us to have plenty of drinks.

The in-house catering was fantastic. The food was of top quality and delicious. We were particularly impressed with the fruit and cheese display - it was a spread. All the guests loved everything about the food. The wait staff and bartenders were so friendly and attentive as well.

The day after the wedding, we had to go pick up all the decorations and left over drinks, but as soon as we got there, everything was already packed and ready to go. We were expecting to spend some time to take down the lights, etc., but the building crew had already done that for us.

All in all, the venue, staff, food, everything was amazing. We had a fantastic experience at the Metropolitan Building.

We just had our wedding on the Fourth Floor and it was positively amazing. There are four things you need to know: it's beyond beautiful, the staff is fantastic, they are really flexible, but they are a bit "relaxed" in their communication.

The space is beyond incredible and delivered a unique, beautiful and memorable atmosphere for the wedding--it's the opposite of the "wedding factory" feel of many other places. They let us use a bunch of cool, antique furniture from the Third Floor that fit the space perfectly. Although it rained on our wedding day, we didn't even notice because the space itself is so beautiful you can take pictures for hours on the different floors. They are always booked for professional photo shoots--and it makes sense when you see the space.

The staff was incredible. Carlos took care of all our needs and went above and beyond in helping us set up our own lights, alter decorations, etc. (Note: You will have to provide most of those decorations yourself.)

We thought the venue's flexibility was hugely valuable. They have an in-house caterer but let you use outside vendors, which we did. We also got to provide our own alcohol (huge savings) and the space was so beautiful we went light on the flowers (again, huge savings).

The only thing to know is they are pretty laid back. If you are a Super Type A-type person (which we are), the lack of a formal contract and continual communication can be a touch unnerving. But...they obviously do weddings and events all the time and will have everything taken care of.

The Metropolitan Building is a hidden oasis in this big city. We had our wedding there in May, on the 4th Floor, and it was absolutely perfect. The execution was better than I could have wished for, and all of our guests were swept away by the venue, the service, the food, and the uniqueness of our day. We went with the in-house caterer, Sasha from Maia Pearl, and the food was delicious. We had family-style meal, and there was more than enough food for our guests. Service from Carlos and his team was impeccable. Carlos put up 400 feet of string lights for us the day before, and it looked stunning in the space. I can't thank him and his team enough. They made our day just perfect.

One thing I loved about our venue was that we had the freedom to get creative with the space! Also, we had the ability to be in the space as early at 9AM on the day of. Music had to stop at midnight, but we really were able to throw a party for our guests. Our wedding was from 4:30 - midnight. Then, we slowly got every one out of the building... not feeling rushed at all by Carlos and his team at the end of the night. I was so thankful for that. If you book on the 4th floor, you can get ready on the 3rd floor. I did that with my bridal party, which was really special.

We never did get to meet Eleanor, but she sure does house a fantastic event space. We feel so fortunate to have been married there. Unforgettable.
