Frequently Asked Questions for Officiant
What officiant services do you provide?
Civil Union, Interfaith Ceremony, Non-religious Ceremony, Single Religion Ceremony
What religious affiliations do you serve?
Buddhist, Christian - Catholic, Christian - Lutheran, Christian - Methodist, Christian - Mormon, Christian - Orthodox, Christian - Presbyterian, Christian - Quaker, Evangelical, Hindu, Jewish
Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?
Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
I perform weddings anywhere a couple desires. I also perform destination weddings in the U.S. and abroad.
What is your attire for the ceremony?
Suits and altar robes are most commom! But dress is the couples choice, and from casual (shorts and golf shirts), theme, shirt and tie, ect. - we dress as the couple requests!
Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
The ceremony wording should be totally of the couples choice, and should reflect their love - their feeling that they have for one another. I am there to assist - or I will provide a complete ceremony if the couple does not desire to make their own choices.
Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
Absolutely! They can pick from many choices I have in both traditional and ring vows, and I encourage couples who would like to write their own vows to do so.
Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
Couples can pick from my list which contains 100's of readings, or they can provide the readings/scripture/poems they would like to include into their ceremony.
How long are your ceremonies?
This again is always the couples choice! Most vary from 15-45 minutes, but it all depends on the choices each couple make!
Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
No premarital counseling is required! However, it is available as an extra service if requested - or I will work with your Priest/Pastor if you do not live locally.
Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
Not a one-answer question. I prefer rehearsals in almost every wedding - from basic to formal weddings. A five minute ceremony doesn't require a 1 hour rehearsal. I ask and offer some level of instruction for every wedding. I write and conduct my own professionally directed rehearsals - or work in conjunction with premium weddings facilities site coordinators. It is a dis-service to a couple to have them perform their own rehearsal, unless that is their choice. If a wedding is small enough that it does not require a rehearsal, I am onsite well before the wedding time to provide general instruction for smaller ceremonies. In cases where a rehearsal was not possible (site restrictions or couple availability), providing direction and services just prior to the ceremony is also included.
Do you supply a sound system?
Not at this time. However, many venues have great sound systems. Each wedding, venue and couples needs are different! And too....the best DJ services (when they are supporting the wedding ceremony), have choices for wireless lavalier/lapel mics too. Each couple/wedding/venue needs are different, so please ask me to assist with this item!
