Quality of Service
Our Lady of the Rosary Parish at the Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine was the absolutely perfect setting for our wedding! The church itself is gorgeous - very colonial and traditional looking with an amazing chandelier hanging in the center. I loved how our 100 guests filled the place and were right there with us as we said our vows. I think if you had more people, you'd be able to fit them in the upper balcony, but I'd say no more than 150 or so people max. Father Meehan was very friendly and flexible when it came to planning. I wasn't sure any Catholic church would let us have a full mass wedding at 6pm on a Saturday evening, but Father Meehan didn't even blink an eye to that... or the fact that we were living together before being married. Very non-judgmental but still traditional at the same time - exactly what we wanted! They even recommended the perfect reception venue for us, right across the street at Battery Gardens. All and all, the perfect experience, and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat!

My daughter's wedding ceremony was at Our Lady of the Rosary, adjacent to the Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine in NYC. It is such a beautiful historic gem amidst the contrast of the city's towering skyscraper's. The inside of the church is very lovely. Reverand Peter Meehan is the pastor. He is a kind and gentle priest and was very willing to assist and guide us with all aspects of the ceremony. He also was very accomodating to the bride and groom who live in DC when helping them do their required preparations. For the ceremony, he had very few stipulations about the music or the readings and was very flexible. He conducted the rehearsal quickly and efficiently. His sermon the day of the wedding was great. We've heard from so many of the guests that they enjoyed him immensely, and it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies they had ever attended. We used their recommended organist who also did a great job. I will say, however, that he prefers not to adorn the church with too many floral decorations. It is true that the church is very beautiful on it's own. Since the wedding was during Advent, he did not want us to use any flowers on the pews. However, he allowed us to have two altar centerpieces as long as they were removed immediately after the ceremony. The church had special meaning to us since it was were the bride's grandmother had been baptized.
