If you want a REAL Scotsman to play the bagpipes at your wedding, this is it! I received a call from Mr. Massie about a week before the wedding. Unfortunately I didn't understand some of what he was saying because of his thick Scottish accent. I did ask him if he would wear a tartan, and apparently he wears one everyday anyway so he definitely showed up wearing one lol. I asked him if he got many stares when he went shopping in his tartan in South Florida but he didn't seem to find that question funny. He showed up to the venue an hour ahead of time and my mother, who talked with him, figured out whatever it was that she wanted him to play. I didn't care what songs he played; I just wanted a bagpiper at my wedding. He played beautifully and knew exactly what to do and when. I did hear him playing the Pachelbel Canon so rest assured, brides, he knows that song. I imagine he knows practically any bagpipe song you could want. l My only complaint is that when I talked to him over the phone, I requested that he be first to walk down the aisle playing his pipes (as I'd seen bagpipers do at weddings on YouTube) and then continue to play as others walked down the aisle. He told me that he didn't want to do this because he didn't want to take attention away from the bride, and I am sure that when he arrived and talked to my mother about this, she agreed with him. So he ended up playing outside while everyone walked in. Well, that's not what I, the BRIDE, wanted. If I wanted a bagpiper in the front of the room "stealing attention" by playing his pipes while I walked down the aisle, then that's what I want. Now I don't have any pictures of him playing by the guests like I wanted. Otherwise, though, he was the epitome of what a proper bagpiper should be.
