Frequently Asked Questions for DJ
What music genres are in your collection?
60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Classic Rock, Country, Dance, Funk, Hip Hop, Motown, Oldies, Pop, Punk Rock, R&B, Rock, Soul
Do you have liability insurance?
Describe your DJ style:
Low key, it is about the client's needs. If you want Steve to announce your wedding party like a hockey line up-done! If you don't want to hear him but only music all night long-not a problem!
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
We do our best to get in as many of your requests as possible. Any special songs we cannot provide, you are more than welcome to put on a cd and we will play it for you.
What is your usual attire?
Attire depends on the event and client's desire. Steve will dress formally (suit and tie) or even don an afro for a Disco party.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
Yes, if we cannot provide the song for you, you are more than welcome to bring it on a cd and we will play it for you.
How many other DJs do you work with?
Steve is the single owner of his company, he only works the number of events he can to give as much attention needed for his clients.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
There is no minimum time set for the dj. If you need him for an hour, two hours, or six hours. Steve will sit down with his client and discuss him meeting their needs.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Absolutely! Just call or email to set up an appointment.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
Absolutely! It is your event, we cater it to your needs!
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes, we bring professional grade speakers, board, lights, and microphones.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Strobe light, motion sensored multi-colored lights, wireless microphone, fog machine (although this can be a fire hazard and is not always allowed at particular venues).
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We require one hour prior to event to set up. We do ask that the client or location of event provide a 6' table.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
There are no extra space requirements, however, you don't typically want the DJ on the dance floor as those having a very good time dancing can dance themselves into the equipment. There should be some distance between the dance floor.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
No, we do not advertise during our clients events. If clients and client guests are happy with us, we always have business cards on hand.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
We only emcee what you would like us to emcee. Who wants to hear someone talk when people want to dance?
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
Steve will change a song if he feels the crowd is not responding to a song-but this is rare. Steve is a great judge of inspiring music. No parking on the dance floor!
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Steve does not require a break or meal. He will graciously accept a meal, if he needs a "restroom" break, he will be sure to leave a long song playing.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
The music doesn't stop unless the client needs it to stop for announcements or emceeing.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
Absolutely not! We only book one client per day to focus on the client's needs.
What is your overtime rate?
Overtime rate is $150/hr after 4 hours of play time.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
No travel charges, this is included in the rate.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
The required amount to secure services is a non-refundable fee of 10% of the total event fee.
