Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?
Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
Certainly. In fact, I look forward to them. This is your big day. Enjoy it. Celebrate it. Parks, mountains, family homes, the special place you met. You pick the place and I will perform the ceremony there.
What is your attire for the ceremony?
You name it. Suit and tie. Pulpit Robes. Cowboy hat and $600 Ostrich boots. Biker leathers and custom Harley. I will wear virtually anything you ask if I can. If you have no preference, I will wear a suit and tie of neutral colors and let the attention be on you! This is your day. I go out of my way to look appropriate - not to be noticed.
Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
Completely! Every bride has a mental picture of her wedding day and what she wants it to be. They know what special words they do and don't want to hear. They know what traditions they like and don't like. This is your day and the words are meant for your ears. Make them special. Tell me what you want me to say. Or let me help you find what you want me to say. I am glad to help and offer tons of ideas, but this is all about you!
Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
Absolutely. In fact, this is a terrific way to personalize a ceremony. You know what words will best express your love and devotion for your new partner, so why not use them? Some couples write their entire ceremony. Other couples ask me to help them blend their own terrific ideas with some of the traditional elements they want to include. There is no wedding script - only ideas, ideas and more ideas. Let's take your ideas and make your day special.
Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
NO! I have ideas and questions that will help get you thinking about what you want. But this is your day. You tell me what you want me to say, and I will help you make it special. Many couples write their entire ceremony. Some comples ask me to write their ceremony. But every ceremony I perform is unique and was written for that specific couple.
How long are your ceremonies?
As long or as short as you want them to be. I have done ceremonies that lasted less than 10 minutes, and I have done ceremonies that lasted much longer. Many factors go into how long a ceremony will last, so there is no standard. What is more important is that we do and say all the things that are meaningful to you, no matter how long that takes. And there is never an extra charge for any of that.
Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
No. I can provide pre-marital counseling upon request. But it is not my place to judge your right to marry. If you have the marriage license, I will perform the ceremony.
Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
Absolutely! And I strongly encourage it. I do charge $50 for the rehearsal, but since my prices are often hundreds less than other officiants, my fees are almost always the most resonable. Some officiants say they don't charge for rehearsals. In this case, they are really charging you for the rehearsal whether you choose to have one or not. I just can't see doing that, so I charge as little as possible for my time. Save the extra money for your honeymoon.
Do you supply a sound system?
No, but I do know people who can. I can also put you in touch with some of the most resonably priced vendors in the area - professional pastry chefs who do cakes at $2.50 per serving, DJs with 20 years experience. Let me know what you need help with. I am always glad to help!
