Frequently Asked Questions for Officiant
What officiant services do you provide?
Civil Union, Interfaith Ceremony, Non-religious Ceremony, Single Religion Ceremony
What religious affiliations do you serve?
Agnostic, Christian (no denomination), Christian - Anglican, Christian - Baptist, Christian - Episcopalian, Christian - Lutheran, Christian - Methodist, Christian - Presbyterian
Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?
Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
Absolutely! I am delighted to perform your ceremony at the location of your choice!
What is your attire for the ceremony?
Usually a robe & stole (which can be coordinated with your wedding colours) or clergy attire, but I am happy to wear, if you prefer, smart business or casual attire, or even a costume for a theme wedding!
Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
Yes! It's your day, so you should speak the words that are meaningful to you. I have many types of vows to choose from, or I can custom write a ceremony just for you.
Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
Yes! I even offer a vow-writing workshop for couples interested in doing this. If you would like to write something personal, but not necessarily write your own vows, these can be included as Expressions of Love in your ceremony.
Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
There is no "must" - I do have a range of readings available, from romantic prose or poems, to religious passages, and couples are free to choose any or none of these, or to read something of your own choosing.
How long are your ceremonies?
Depending on the type of ceremony you choose, and the inclusions (unity candle or sand ceremony for example), a ceremony can be as short as 10 minutes, or as long as up to an hour - it's your choice! The most popular length of a ceremony is 25-30 minutes, and we can pack a lot into that amount of time!
Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
The State of Colorado does not require pre-marital counseling, and neither do I! If you would like to, or if you live in a state that does require pre-marital counseling, I have courses available.
Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
Yes! A rehearsal prior to the ceremony can be a great help. Particularly for large wedding parties, or ceremonies with a lot of elements, a rehearsal lets everyone feel more comfortable with what happens and when, where to stand, and also gives those with speaking parts a chance to practice!
Do you supply a sound system?
I do have a smal PA speaker and microphone that is perfect for small gatherings.
