Wedding Venue

Our wedding at RCH was great. We were the only ones in the building for the whole day (a huge plus), and we were able to have our ceremony and reception in one place. It was a bit frustrating trying to schedule meetings during the work week, because they are only available during typical work day hours (I think 10-4?) but I suppose you would run into that with any venue. It's a large venue, and other than scheduling the pre-wedding meeting times I really have no complaints.

The place itself was nice- we fell in love with the park outside where we were married, but had I known what the future would hold I would have kept looking. I would not recommend the community house to ANYONE looking for a wedding/reception venue.. in fact I would actively seek to talk them OUT of this place.

They ask that you pay quite a bit of money to rent the place, stating that you are paying for not only the ENTIRE building for your use, but for staffing of wedding hosts to help throughout the event. WHAT A JOKE. After paying nearly $2,000 to have the building to ourselves, we show up a week before the wedding to see a sign out front advertising a garage sale that would take place in the building the days of my rehearsal AND of my wedding! They promised the sale would be in the basement and that we would not see it, but the morning of our wedding I found out they had used our indoor "rain backup" room as their shop so if it rained we were out of luck.... not only that but we couldn't set up anything for fear shoppers would swipe it. Our "hosts" promised to set up our seating cards for us, but we arrived later to find them in a box and were setting them up ourselves as guests were arriving. Then during the ceremony our "hosts" were nowhere to be found and I, the bride, was directing the flow of each member of the party down the aisle. It was a total disaster from them... we ended up taking the tip money we had set aside for them and divinig it up among the other vendors.

Aside from all that, you get NOTHING from them- you have to rent glasses, chair covers, cake plates, etc. and we had to truck in all the alcohol ourselves for the bar. They also have a STRICT set of rules- no candles, no chocolate fountains, NO DECORATING, no proping doors open, no food in the bridal room (brides are expected to starve and faint walking down the aisle aparentally- we couldnt have tea sandwiches while getting ready)... just rediculous stuff for a wedding.
