I loved working with Bobbie. The venue was great because it was centrally located and looked beautiful in the evening. The staff is very helpful and the evening was a huge success.

The venue was nice but I did not like the fact that the security is always bothering you regarding the volume of the music, and he came up to us and shut down the music because the neighbor had called the police. Isn't this suppose to be a hall where you can have parties? What kind of hall is this?

This venue was perfect for us. We had the ceremony and the reception here. The only downside was the caterer. He was not professional and because we were working with a tight budget, did not even give us a quote. I wouldn't have minded if he had just told us, but he said he would get back to us and never did.

The marketing director and janitors were GREAT!

The San Diego Woman's Club was overall pretty good for our wedding reception.

When we booked them last fall the prices were the best of all the area Woman's Clubs we looked at, but I think their prices may have been raised recently. They also allowed us to stay until midnight if we wanted - but I think that has changed too for 2011 because of a neighbor's noise complaints. We ended up having our reception from 5pm-11pm, with music/bar service stopping at 10:30pm.

Beyond being relatively inexpensive (price of rental of hall includes tables and chairs), the colonial-style main hall has nice wooden floors, a nice looking stage, and a high ceiling. You can't tack anything into the walls to decorate - but we felt that the walls looked great with our amber-colored uplighting! The hall is all pretty big: we had 14 guest tables + our bridal party table + bar inside and there was still plenty of room for a big dance floor and more guest tables if we had needed them.

We were also pretty lucky because there wasn't another event going on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, so we could drop off our bar items Friday and store them at the hall. A big plus was also our ability to supply our own alcohol for the wedding.

It isn't perfect; the entrance room is sort of outdated and the outside covered patio is small - but neither of those were used much for our reception, so it didn't matter to us. There are also these giant pink curtains around the stage and one wall that we had to figure out how to diminish somehow - our awesome lighting guy managed to tie the ones around the doors up and keep the lighting in the hall low enough that they weren't too noticeable.

The room did get REALLY hot through the course of the evening. I felt bad for all the guys in suits and tuxes! It had been in the low 80s earlier that day and a lot of people were dancing that night, but I was really surprised at how ineffective it was at cooling down, even with all the windows and doors open. I dont think they have AC - if they did they certainly didn't offer to turn it on for us. I can't imagine what it would have been like during the 100F+ heatwave we had had earlier in the month.

My one really negative experience (and the reason for 3.5 stars on professionalism): one of our guests regrettably made a mess of a bathroom and the manager there left my husband a message early the next morning (on Sunday) just to complain. We already had submitted a refundable damage deposit, and while it would be important to contact us about charges to our deposit it seemed unnecessary to call the very next day just to complain about it. What did she want us to do? The manager there had been so nice before and after this so maybe she was just having a bad day, but it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth because it ruined part of the next morning for me and my husband!
