My brother and sister-in-law had their wedding here. I can't speak to anything that happened from the time they started planning 1 1/2 years prior to the event, however I can speak to how the rehearsal and overall wedding was. We showed up on Friday afternoon for the rehearsal and Joe the owner was nowhere to be found. The entire place was in shambles. Chairs were knocked over, the inside was filthy, there were leaves and dirt all over the furniture outside (under a canopy out of the rain). Now I realize it had been raining the entire day, but this was beyond rainstorm debris - it looked both inside and outside like they were not expecting to have a wedding the very next day (in 24 hours). Someone from our wedding party had to go and find Joe - it looked like we had woken him from a nap and he wasn't even expecting us, although arrangements had been made ahead of time. We left there feeling anxious and hoping the place would look much better the next day (and that it wouldn't rain). No such luck. It rained the day of the wedding and the decision was made to move everything inside. The place was cleaned up and looked better, but not stellar. The entire grassy area was flooded from the rain and there was a huge puddle of water where the aisle to the ceremony site was. If it wasn't raining, there would have been no way we could have had the wedding outside anyway because of all the water. The ceremony went off without a hitch. Then our entire group had to move outside so they could reset the room for the reception. It took almost 2 hours to reset the room - I'm not sure why because the tables were already set up and just had to be moved. We had appetizers brought in from another caterer which were delicious. However, there were about 4 boxes of leftover appetizers that somehow went missing. When asked about it later, Joe blamed the family for taking them. We had 118 people and the tables were really crowded, I'm not sure how we would have fit in anther 20 or 30 people in that room. The glasses and dishware were broken and chipped. The linens were dingy. The ladies room was inadequate. There were two toilets, one you pulled an accordion door closed to have some privacy, the other, you pulled a curtain around the toilet area. The food was good, but Joe had used recipes from the bride's mother. Despite these issues, the reception was fun and everyone had a great time. The bigger issues happened after the wedding was over. Joe called the groom's parents and accused them of taking the specialty wine that was left over from the wedding (which they did not). He had several inappropriate and unprofessional conversations with the bride's family after the fact as well. He claimed the appetizers messed up the timing if dinner and that was what was to blame for the 2 hour delay. He als accused them of taking pans, other food and the wine from the wedding (later he found the pans and the food that was so-called missing). Joe charges a lot of money for this venue, claims that every thing is included, yet nickels and dimes you on every detail and does not deliver. He says he does over 70 weddings a year - at about $15,000 per, that is over $1,000,000 a year. He is NOT putting that money back into Shadow's Ranch. It's unfortunate because the venue could be amazing if it was run by someone who cares about their customers.

We were initially hesitant about Shadow's Ranch, merely because our families were staying in Colorado Springs due to graduation and weren't sure if we wanted the extra drive, but we decided to take a look anyway...best decision we made! The pictures do not do this place justice, you really have to go take a look for yourselves. The only thing about the site I didn't absolutely love was the fake grass on the ceremony site, but had I really cared, it would have been very easy to use an isle runner to cover it. What really sold us on Shadow's Ranch, though, was its owner Joe. Not only is he a FABULOUS cook (you have to try his eggplant parmesan!) AND fabulous bartender (I think at one point our friends were tipping him $20 and up they loved him so much), he also has a ton of experience in the industry and can help you find fantastic vendors and has wonderful advice about how to get the best quality for a great price. Speaking of great price, I researched a lot of possible sites, and found none that offered anywhere near as much as Joe does for the price he charges. At first I was worried it would be lower quality service due to the cost, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Plus, Georgetown is a beautiful little town with a lot to see and do and is also within a short distance of the big ski towns of Breck and Keystone, and has lots of accomodations...if you go, stay at Chateau Chamonix- you will not be disappointed! My only word of caution would be that the converted greenhouse were we ate supper was not equipped to handle a large amount of guests- we had around 80 and it was the perfect size, but if you are planning 150+, I would think it would either be very cramped or not everyone would fit. For our smaller, intimate wedding it couldn't have been more perfect. Everyone raved about how wonderful it was. We loved Joe and we loved Shadow's Ranch and absolutely suggest you go take a look!

I got married at Shadows Ranch back in 2007. I was in HI at the time my mom booked the venue and was very hesitant that I had not seen it. I viewed the location in the winter, buried under 3 ft of snow. Even then I knew it had potential. Come August, it was a lush forest, protected from I-70 but easy to get to. We had a horse drawn carriage pick me up at the cabin where I got ready and drop me off to head down the aisle, after getting to take a joy ride around the lake.
My guests still to this day - 4+ years later rave about the wedding. It was the perfect atmosphere with a casual patio with places to sit and listen to live music. The green house is where the reception took place. We had about 120 people and it worked perfectly for the space. They have it pre-decorated with beautiful lights and you can see the wolves out behind the head table.
The vendors Shadows Ranch works with are great. They made great recommendations for the carriage company, dj, catering and more.
Joe, the owner, was wonderful. Remembered me by name from the open house the winter before. They pride themselves in providing wonderful service, and they very much deliver.
I remember it started raining as I was trying to get some photos taken. Joe came in and told me it would stop in about 15 minutes, I swear he got it almost to the second, we headed back out and finished photos.
I am happy even now that I got married there!

Loved the scenery there, couldn't have been a better spot for us. Some of the decor was a little antiquated, but they were fantastic in giving us everything we needed and covering all the little extras. LOVED the raft out on the water and the beautiful scenery. WAs an absolutely amazing night at a perfectly "themed" location for us. Definitely would have it there all over again!

Shadow's Ranch was simply amazing. It was so picturesque, we couldn't believe we were so lucky! Our photos are amazing. I'm not sure if they still do, but at the time there was a 1/2 off military discount, which was unbelievable. Even without that, their prices were very competitive. They were very professional and flexible with us, and the facilities are stunning. We even had two little cabins for the bridal party and groomsmen to prepare in. After the wedding, the bride and groom can push themselves out to the center of the lake on a raft for some time along, which was a very romantic touch. It was nice that they had many options for how involved we could have the staff. We wanted to do most things ourselves, and we were able to pay less to do so. A really nice perk was that around Valentine's Day they did a little fair with local vendors (useful to find people willing to go that far into the mountains). I believe we found our photographer, florist, and wine that way. I don't believe at the time we had to use the in-house caterer (county health codes now require it), but their food was quite good at the fair. It was an amazing day, and most of that was due to the location.
