We recently had our reception at the Sheraton Arlington, Plaza on the Hill. The reception was beautiful. We were able to get in the night before and decorate so we wouldn't have to worry about it the day of the wedding, and the location was perfect because after a night of fun, people could just walk to their hotel rooms. We were able to create our own menu and the catering staff at the Sheraton did a fantastic job - the food was DELICIOUS! The venue is great because it's a stand-alone room so you're not sharing the venue with another wedding or event. There was even a Rangers game on the same day as our wedding and the staff made sure there was plenty of parking for us.

Sheraton is a beautiful space. I used the outdoor gazebo and beautiful indoor plaza on the hill. when it was very hot and sunny so we kept the ceremony short although 3 people promised me shade. They have a new coordinator Donna who is just getting use to the facility and this turned into a nightmare after dealing with Jill for 9 months. The staff at the hotel all changed during our planning so promised things and then the ball was dropped by all of them. The worst part was blocking rooms for guest using Starwood website. People seemed to just fall off the list for no reason. I am super organized and communicated everything in writing yet Donna is no better at responding to phone or email than Jill was. As a working girl she couldn't seem to find time to meet at my convenience so I took several unneccessary vacation days.
Best part was the food and catering staff. Worst part was the ala carte fees and rules. No outside food or drink of any kind by the pool, rooms where you get ready, reception. You will spend $100 per person on food and alcohol so keep that in mind also 22% gratuity and then 8% tax on top of that which adds up.
The airport shuttle runs once an hour not on a as needed basis and the 3 mile shuttle stops at 10pm and the drivers were no where to be found. Many guest had trouble getting rooms cool. Breakfast is not free and runs $15+22%+8% . Overall we spent way too much for the services received if i could do over i would find another venue as beautiful and cater myself .

I had my wedding ceremony at the outdoor gazebo and then the reception inside at the Plaza on the Hill. Jill was my primary contact in planning everything. Overall the wedding went off pretty well and I was happy. I have broken my comments into the wonderful , average and the not so good. Even though the bad is lengthier than the good the bad were only minor things.

The Wonderful The venue is beautiful. I got a lot of comments from my guests saying what a perfect place it was to have a wedding. You have the feeling of the outdoors without the Texas heat. The food was amazing and the bartender did a good job of keeping up with the drink orders.

The average. Jill was very polite and professional and usually pretty prompt to respond to emails. However she didn’t seem to be very organized. When we went in for our tasting she had mixed up some of the paperwork in the files because she was asking me about an event planner that had nothing to do with me or my wedding. Also I don’t think she took detailed enough notes because there were several times where I had to give her the same information twice. My suggestion is that you get everything in writing and make sure to look over all the paperwork and have everything included in detail. I had to have Jill revise my paperwork multiple times before it was correct.

The not so good. My wedding was on the same day as a Ranger’s game. This created major parking issues because the Sheraton Hotel allows baseball fans to park in their parking lot. Jill assured me that parking wouldn’t be an issue that they would block off enough space for my wedding guests to park. However on the day of the wedding several of my guests couldn’t find a parking spot because the lot was full and had to pay to valet park.

Another issue was that we had picked out two signature drinks a watermelon margarita and an apple breeze. On the day of the wedding we were informed that they didn’t have the ingredients to make the watermelon margarita and so they substituted a strawberry margarita instead. The strawberry wasn’t very good way too sweat which is why I had chosen the watermelon to begin with. Another thing about the drinks is that several guest said that the signatures drinks were pretty weak. I sort of expect this but at $9 a drink one would hope they would have been more generous with the alcohol to make it worth the price.

Finally dealing with the accounting department was a nightmare. I put my credit card on file when I signed the contract so they could automatically charge my card for all the installment payments. The accounting department never charged my card until I called to remind them to charge it and still it usually took them a few days to get around to it after my reminder. However, when it came time for the final payment after the event was over they were very prompt. So prompt in fact that they didn’t give a copy of the final bill before charging it even though I had specifically asked Jill for a copy of the bill before they charged my card. They charged my card on May 30th and on June 4th after 5 phone calls and two emails I finally received a copy of the final bill.

The Sheraton in Arlington is one of the prettiest spaces for a wedding I have ever seen. My husband actually found this venue and when insaw it I was blown away. The space is so beautiful and unique that you don't have to add anything to it to have a perfect event. The chairs are beautiful on their own and don't need draping. The ceremony space has enough space to seat 100 guests and is surrounded by beautiful trees, water features and a roomy gazebo. The reception area is huge! The lofty roof gives the space the same outdoor feel especially when combined with the 360 wall of windows that letthe beauty and light from the outdoors into the room. The reception hall is surrounded by a moat so you actually cross a bridge to enter the room. Our favorite feature is the massive dance floor. A big problem with most if the venues we looked at was the very small space to dance. We knew we wanted the majority of our wedding to be a fun dance environment without feeling crowded and the "Plaza on the Hill" gives you an octagon shaped dance floor that is surrounded by tables so even if you arn't dancing you can still enjoy the energy. Jill Blackford is a delight to work with and was very attentive to our needs and wishes. Sheraton has a beautiful modern look inside and the rooms are spacious and bright. Our honeymoon suite was included when we booked the Plaza and we were impressed with the size of the room and great features in the bathroom. If you have more than 100 guests still consider the Sheraton for your reception, you can also host your ceremony inside, you won't be disappointed!

I booked the Plaza on the Hill for my outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. Overall, the ceremony was absolutely gorgeous in April (partly in thanks to all the decorating my family and friends did), the food was delicious and the reception area was unique and beautiful. We worked with Jill and while she was always very polite, never went out of her way to help me, especially the day of the wedding. She did what was required (answer emails, schedule tasting, etc) but clearly wasn't going above and beyond. She spent my entire wedding day showing off the area to potential new customers, and I could barely find her all day. She put us in a big conference room with chairs lining the walls. It was awkward to get ready in and so freezing and we had to ask 3 times to turn down the air. She didn't stop by a single time to check on me or check if I needed anything. I had to call her, or go to the front desk, or have my dad find her, etc if I needed her. (a few issues came up, like trying to charge the guests for parking, I had no idea when i was supposed to leave the room to walk to the ceremony...) Also, she lined up my whole wedding party directly in front of the aisle, rather than having them walk one by one across the gorgeous bridge that leads up to the aisle. This made it impossible for my photographer to get pics of the wedding party, and very anticlimactic for the guests to see a line of the wedding party. I felt very much like "another wedding" she wanted to cycle through. All the other staff, from reception to waiters and bartenders were amazing, helpful, sweet, etc. I would recommend this place b/c its so unique and gorgeous, but be very clear about what you want, and get it ALL in writing.

The Sheraton Arlington was a beautiful venue for our wedding but customer service was terrible! The wedding coordinator of the hotel just told us what we can't do instead of what she could do for us. She was not helpful and then quit a month before the wedding. We had another wedding coordinator who acted like she would be better but she was nowhere to be found on the actual wedding day. The waitors dropped the champagne during the reception and failed to even give us...the bride and groom...any champagne! The cake slices were cut too thin for the guests which left a lot of leftover cake. Our only request was to save us the cake and keep it in their fridge until the next day, but they threw it away. The front desk staff were very rude and no help when it came to providing rooms for our guests.
