When I got engaged, I asked some of my married friends advice on vendors to use for our wedding. My college roommate recommended Phil and said he was amazing. We met with him right away and were completely blown away by his presentation and his personality. We booked him on the spot and were told he would be in touch a lot over the next year to check in and help us plan. Not once in the 11 months before our wedding did he try and contact us. Around the end of June I began to get nervous that he was not reaching out to us, so I sent him a casual email. He didn't respond. So I decided to call. After leaving several messages, he finally answered and agreed to meet with me the following week. When I showed up at his home. he didn't answer the door. I had to call him twice to get him to let me in. Once I was finally inside, it was like we had never met. He didn't have any of our information from our previous meeting and asked me for my paperwork. I had no idea what he was taking about since he didn't mention bringing any paperwork when we spoke on the phone. During the entire meeting I felt rushed and like I was bothering him with all of my questions. When we were done, he said the paperwork I needed "Would be at my house before I was" since he would email it to me right away. He never sent it. I called and texted several times over the next week asking for the paperwork. He told me to check my spam folder. Feeling frustrated, I called another bride who I knew had used him and she told me about her negative experience working with him. After that, I came to wedding wire and some other websites and saw a lot of the same comments and bad experiences. Phil WAY oversold himself and didn't even come close to meeting the expectations he set. A few weeks before the wedding we decided to cut our loses and hire someone else. I know some brides have had great experiences with him, but I wasn't willing to take the chance.

I wish I would have read some of these reviews before I booked With Phil. The sad thing is, is that I saw him at a wedding and thought he did a great job. When it came time for me to get married I thought he would be a great fit!

I called him up and scheduled a meeting. He was very talkative energetic and had great ideas. He seemed very organized and professional. He won us over and we signed the contract and paid half.

After that initial meeting, I had the HARDEST time getting a hold of him. I would email him and wait for days and then have to call him to tell him to check his email. He seemed distracted and rushed at the follow up meetings.

The day of our wedding he played the wrong "first dance" song and had to try to download our real song during the reception. He called my husbands father by the wrong name, had the wrong people come up to do toasts, so people had to pull a speech out of their you know what. People were so bored that they started to leave early :( My husband and I are very fun and outgoing people and all we wanted was a fun, professional DJ who would get our guests up and moving for a great time!! We did not get that.

He said he spends HOURS preparing for the big event. Considering all that went wrong for my wedding I assume he spent a whole 20 minutes preparing for mine.

I am so disappointed with his performance and would not recommend him to do a wedding. He puts on a very good show when he is trying to book you and as soon as he does he acts as if you are no longer a priority to him.

SAD SAD SAD :(

Phil gave a great presentation before we signed the contract but as soon as we paid in full, things changed. He didn't respond to emails, didn't stay in touch and never gave us the paperwork (for the wedding music) until a week before the wedding. Many things were a huge disappointment and thinking about them, makes me very sad.

Phil was a great DJ for our wedding! He won us over at a tasting at our venue by telling everyone how he gets "all the single ladies" up on the dance floor for the bouquet toss! It was awesome! Phil was so patient with us because we weren't very good at doing our song choice homework and didn't know what our final choices should be when we met with him. Thankfully he had some suggestions! We did one of his medium packages and it worked out well for us, although I wish it would have been an hour or so longer so we didn't have to pay for extra time. Phil was really good at working the crowd, but he did play a little too much rap music towards the end. The One Love part also went a little too long during the reception and I would recommend that he cuts that down by about 5 minutes to not take up so much of the dancing time. Other than that, he helped make our reception the talk of our friends and family! Everyone had such a great time! My husband and I would recommend Phil to anyone who asked!

There are two different Phils. The professional, responsive, listening, guy that wants your business and promises to make it special and the completely different guy that couldn't care less about your wedding. The first guy disappears as soon as the contract is signed at which time you are left with the second guy.

Phil puts together a very impressive presentation and really does a great job at making you feel like he is the right choice. He makes you feel like once you hire him there is at least one thing that has been taken care of and you don’t need to worry about. He makes you feel confident that at least the music and entertainment for your wedding is taken care off at the highest level. Phil is an impressively skilled sales person but I’m afraid that is the extent of his good qualities.

Once your contract is signed get ready for Phil number two. Be prepared for him to attempt to charge you multiple times, be prepared for him to ignore your e-mails and phone calls, be prepared to have to repeat everything three or four times, be prepared for him to be late to meetings, be prepared to download your own music. Overall, be prepared to baby sit Phil for the rest of the planning stage and most importantly be prepared to be concerned.

At the event be prepared for Phil to be unpleasant to your guests, be prepared for Phil to show up wearing a clown vest, be prepared for Phil to mispronounce the names of your family, wedding party and most importantly believe it or not, be prepared for him to mispronounce your own names including your last name. Be prepared for Phil to ignore all of your previous instructions for the wedding, be prepared for Phil to make you use your own iPod during the wedding because he didn’t get the right songs. Finally, be very prepared for Phil to attempt to leave the wedding early before his contract is fulfilled and screw up your ending to the wedding. I would suggest having a copy of the contract to use when he tries to leave an hour early even though you have paid extra to keep him for longer.

If you can be prepared for all of these things you are ready to hire Phil. Or you can just not take this unnecessary risk on the most important day of your life and go with someone else.

Phil is amazing! He is fun, personable, and professional. He really goes above and beyond to make your day about you and the love story you have. He made sure our songs were what we wanted and was able to make suggestions when we came up blank. And he really saved us... my husband's dad was supposed to play at the ceremony but ended up breaking his hand the week before the wedding. Phil stepped in and was able to make sure our ceremony had the music we wanted and made us feel great. You will not be disappointed!

My husband and I interviewed a number of DJ's in the Denver area before choosing Phil with Simply Entertainment. He was the last DJ that we met with after a long line of unsatisfying candidates....He simply blew us away from start to finish. He was very professional as well as personable, extremely prepared and did everything with excellence. You will fall in love with his personallity from the very start. From the first plans all the way through the day of the wedding, I knew that i didn't have to worry about a thing because Phil had everything under control. He caused the whole reception to go off without any of those awkward moments. He was full of energy and wanted to make sure that our reception went exactely the way we wanted. He also helped me set up a suprise for my husband. I wanted to sing a song to him during the reception. It went off without a hitch. He brough an glamorous old style mic for me that just made everything perfect.
He also has some very creative things that he does to make the night very touching. WOW! I can't say anything bad about this DJ. He will not leave you disappointed in any way.

When we first interviewed with Phil, we really liked him and his slightly different approach to weddings. He was very interested in what WE wanted out of our wedding experience, and throughout the year we continued to discuss with him the style of DJ we wanted as well as specific details we wanted. We wanted him to not play too big of a role at the wedding (more of a background role), and of course there were some details like how to introduce us. He put together a pretty detailed itinerary, but we also met a few times in the couple months leading up to the wedding and discussed more details as well as overall themes. I was a little concerned throughout those meetings that he wasn't taking very good notes, because we had to repeat some things multiple times (such as whether we were doing the garter toss, and other details that should have been simple for him to note). Turns out my concerns weren't for nothing! In the end it felt like he squeezed our wedding into HIS own vision, and it didn't quite fit. His performance at the wedding was a mixed bag. He was a great DJ in terms of music -- he really read the crowd well and played fun music. We would have preferred more slow dance songs, but he definitely kept the crowd out on the dance floor, which was fun. His performance as an emcee, however, was not very good. He was very involved and was "running the show" a lot in the beginning, which we'd basically asked him not to do. He made mistakes that he shouldn't have, such as calling my mom by the wrong name (really embarrassing!!) and introducing us incorrectly even though he had the correct way written down right in front of him. The result of these kinds of mistakes was that both my (now) husband and I were nervous for the first hour or so of the wedding, wondering what other mistakes he might make. It's no fun being worried about that during your wedding. Phil is priced on the high end of the market, so these sorts of mistakes during the event were unacceptable and showed that he really hadn't paid attention during our meetings. Maybe he has too many weddings these days, but that's no excuse for getting simple things wrong. After the wedding I wrote him a long email about it, and he never responded, which makes us feel like he's really not interested in constructive criticism. I have a hard time recommending Phil for a wedding.
