Smyrna Community Center was the perfect spot for my outdoors wedding and inside reception space. The gazebo is a beautiful place that can be adorned with many decorations. There is also bench seating around the gazebo which helps saves cost on rentals.
Inside the center, the Community Room was a beautiful space. The center set up tables and chairs and also broke it all down at the end of the night.
The staff was friendly and helpful.. I would DEFINITELY recommend this venue!!

I cannot stress what a great facility this is for a wedding reception, especially if you are a bride on a budget as I was. I wanted a somewhat large size wedding (100-150 people) on a tight budget of $5000 (this budget was for ceremony and reception rental, bridal dress and accessories, catering, wine, cake, DJ, decorations..EVERYTHING!). So Smyrna Community Center, along with my church ceremony location (Log Cabin Community Church- also in Smyrna) allowed me to stay in budget.

I literally researched over 75+ hotels, restaurants, wedding/reception event venues, bed and breakfasts, etc, and this was by far THE BEST reception location for your money in the Metro Atlanta area. Every place I called was going to cost at least $3000 to rent a ballroom. Or places I called only allowed you to rent if you used their catering and food, which usually would end up costing at least $10,000. When you are a bride on a budget having to pay for most of your wedding, we could simply not afford most places we called. And a few places that were in budget were in terrible condition or you just had a bad feeling about. But Smyrna Community Center beat them all in price and looked just as nice as any expensive hotel ballroom.

The interior was very nice, the carpeting, drapes, crystal lighting fixtures, and decor were all elegant and professional. The brick building exterior is beautiful, it is probably about 7 or 8 years old. It has columns, nice landscaping with fountains, and a beautiful pond with swings and flowers around it that is right beside the community center. It's all located in the middle of Smyrna Market Village, with upscale shopping and restaurants.

The fee at the time several years ago was $800, this included use of the main ballroom, hallway for buffet, and the well-equipped commercial kitchen. This included the nice adjoining restrooms that were clean and convenient. Also it included their staff setting up the tables, chairs, and equipment in your desired layout, and then break it down in the evening. For an additional $200, you can add on the adjoining room, which is what we did for guests that wanted to take a break from the DJ and music, or perhaps for children to play. We ended up not using this room really, because the buffet was out in the hallway, and all of the adults as well as kids wanted to dance and hang out with the DJ, so probably didn't need the extra room.

The only drawbacks would be that the basketball court/gym has doors that open up in the same hallway, and although they supposedly locked the gym doors where people would not enter directly into our buffet hallway, there were occasional stragglers that would be walking down the hall, but overall they left our things alone. Also a disadvantage is they close at 10pm, so if you want a reception to go into the hours of the morning, you have to pay an additional amount of money per hour, like maybe it seems like it was $50/hour for the closing security guard (it maybe only be required if you have alcohol as we did). As for my flexibility rating- as with any reception try to reserve it at least 6 months to a year in advance because the city holds lots of business/government meetings there. But those were the only few drawbacks we could think of.

I would highly recommend this facility for either a wedding reception or business meeting. Susan was very nice and very helpful. The facility was beautiful in the spring on the exterior, and both exterior and interior were a great photo backdrop for our reception photos. If you are on a tight budget but want to look like you had an extravagant expensive reception, I would highly recommend this place!
