We pride ourselves on providing the best DJs in the business. Our DJs have a background in music (Most of us are musicians as well as DJs), and a love for what we do. Our ***Award Winning*** performance and customer service have provided us with a 100% customer satisfaction rating as well as a high level of referral clientelle. We have seen events in the past ruined by low-quality and unprofessional DJs and we won't let that happen to our clients. We have studied DJs all over the grid from the best DJs that you will never forget to the bad ones that you wish you could. We have taken everything that was great from all of them and left out all that wasn't to create the best possible DJ experience anyone could ask for, and we have combined that experience with a higher level of customer service than what you will receive from most of our competitors.
 
 Did you know that many of the DJ companies out there don't even have any DJs working for them? When you call to book your entertainment, they turn around and search for a DJ at other companies to show up at your event. Many times, you won't ever meet the DJ until the day of your wedding.
 NOT HERE! We encourage all of our clients to meet their specific DJ before even signing our contract. All of our DJs are employed by us and as such are highly trained by our company President who has been a professional wedding DJ for over a decade. Our DJs work directly with you every step of the way to plan the wedding day of your dreams. We get to know our clients as people. We take an interest in their occupation, hobbies, and preferences and incorporate all of that into creating a wedding day experience that is custom molded to reflect who they are. Those are the most memorable events for all in attendance as well as the Bride and Groom themselves.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
The only limits we have on requests come down to what the Bride and Groom have specified not to play, what is inappropriate for the crowd, and how much time we have left in the event. As long as your request doesn't cross any of those lines, we will be happy to play it.
What is your usual attire?
There are two things you will never see when it comes to our dress code. We will not out-dress the Bride or Groom, and we will not be underdressed (showing disrespect for the importance of the event). Our DJs always dress properly for the theme of the event. We will always be attired in a black suit or a tuxedo unless the theme of the wedding is much more casual than that. In that situation we will be attired in whatever is appropriate according to the wishes of the Bride and Groom.
 
 We show up hours early in casual attire to set up our equipment. When the set-up is complete, lights adjusted, and a sound check has been performed, we will go to the proper location on site and change into our proper attire for the event.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
Any and all songs pre-requested will be obtained prior to the event. The only time that we will ask the client to provide any music at all, is if the pre-requested material is unatainable. In which case we will communicate with the client well in advance that we are unable to obtain the selection and would appreciate them providing it.
How many other DJs do you work with?
Our company currently has 3 DJs, and are in the process of training more. If there ever comes a time when we don't have any available DJs, we work with several other DJ companies in the area who can provide your requested services.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Wedding receptions are rated for 6 hrs. We are always willing to go longer or shorter than that at the request of our client. If a client is looking for a shorter time frame for their event we can oblige, but we rarely get a request for that. 
 Also, experience has taught us that a short wedding reception is not always a good thing. When you have a reception, there is time set aside for your grand entrance, dinner, cut the cake, first dance, etc... You want to make sure you plan your reception for enough time to fit in all of the special moments you want to experience and allow some time for everyone to have fun as well. 
 That is why even though we will provide services for any time-frame our clients desire, we reccommend no less than 6 hrs. We have done receptions for as little as 4 hrs, and it proves to be difficult to squeeze everything in and still have time for your guests to let their hair down and have fun.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Not only are they able, but that is our general policy. We always prefer for the client to meet their DJ before signing with us. Usually in wedding planning there is plenty of time to make sure that the client and DJ have time to meet. We want our DJs to get to know the personalities of our clients ahead of time. That is the best way to be the right kind of DJ for each individual client.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
Specialize, no. However we are always willing to learn about new cultures and provide the proper services for each. There is no event we can't handle. What we SPECIALIZE in, is customization of every event we do. We will tailor the entire event to fit whatever the clients' preferences are.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
Absolutely! If you don't want to hear it at your wedding, you won't. The only exception to this rule, is when a guest requests something that is on the "do not play" list, we will play it if and only if that guest can convince the Bride or Groom to come directly to us and tell us it's okay.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Always! That is the best way to insure the highest level of lighting and sound quality. We have been known to use equipment provided by the client, but only at their rquest, and we do not reccomend it. We also have our own custom designed tables and a LED Facade instead of a table skirt to add extra elegance to our appearance.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We provide nothing but the best in sound equipment for proper volume and clearity. We have multiple sound systems to provide a variety of options to use the right system for the right event/venue. Some of our systems are smaller for use at ceremonies and smaller venues. We like to use Confucious' philosophy of "don't use a cannon to kill a mosquito". We will evaluate the event and venue to decide which equipment will be appropriate for the requested srevices. Our lighting equipment is always changing with the times. We mostly use lights that move with the beat of the music, but there are a few stationary lights used as well. Any great DJ will have a variaty of lighting to use at each event. The lights should change multiple times throughout the event to reflect the mood of each moment of the event as well as the mood of the music. We have recently added a LED powered "Facade" or "wall" to enclose our DJ booth. This adds a level of elegance to the venue during the cocktail hour and meal, and with the ability to change colors at the puch of a button, we can match many other colors of the decor. Also, when the dancing starts we can make it change colors at various speeds to add a fun effect for dancing. Specialized lighting, such as your name or monogram in light on the wall or dance floor, and/or uplighting can be provided upon request at an additional charge.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour to set up our equipment depending on the layout of the venue, what equipment is being used, and the individual DJ (some are faster than others). We ALWAYS arrive on site to set up 2-4 hours in advance. We take the proper amount of time to set up all equipment, adjust all lighting, and run a sound check. Then we change into our preformance attire, and get the system cued to begin while running a playlist of music to provide a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. At this point we await the arrival of your guests and make ourselves available to assist them with finding their seats, coat room, restrooms, etc...
 
 We bring eveything we need. We do NOT require the client or venue to provide anything other than an electrical source within 30 ft of the DJ booth. Our tables are customized to our specific use and as such, in most cases, we are unable to use tables provided by anyone else. Therefore, if we arrive on site to find that a table has been set up of us in advance, we tend to find a representative of the venue and request it be removed.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
No. We always analyze the layout of the venue, and adjust our setup methods and styles to accommodate the area. We take all of the stress and worry out of the event for our clients.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
No. We have seen other DJs display a banner above their DJ booth, an electric scrolling banner, or a table skirt with their company name displayed on it. Frankly, for an event as high-class as a wedding, we find this to be very tacky. 
 In the past, we had our logo displayed on one of our extra computer screens while it was not in use, but we have moved away from that as well. We feel that if we are doing our job correctly, anyone in attendace with a need for our services will be interested enough to come and ask for a business card. Also, we rely on the idea that a happy client will provide our information to anyone who asks them about us. As we have been enjoying a large number of referrals, we feel that this positive attitude and faith in our clients has been proving affective thus far.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
We always emcee every event unless asked not to in advance. As far as talking in between songs, we will make any and all announcements necessary throughout the evening. Other than that, the amount of talking we do in between songs will depend on the crowd and gets handled on a case by case basis. Some crowds might like a DJ who makes comments in between songs and some find that annoying. We will always read the crowd to find out what they like. 
 Sometimes it is appropriate to make a comment in between songs in order to change the mood of the dancing or keep it going, but in most cases, the music will speak for itself and there is no need to say anything. Again, this is dependant on what the client and their guests prefer.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
We rarely have that problem. We are very efficiant at reading the crowd and deciding what music to play based on the demographic. At our events, there is rarely a need to convince the crowd that it is time to dance. On the rare occasion that we might be having trouble in that area, the best way to fix the problem is to remind the crowd that we are accepting requests. When someone requests a song, 9 times out of 10, that person will hit the dance floor when their request is played, and they will almost never go to the dance floor alone.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
We do not take many breaks. Our job as the host of the event is to be available and easy to find should anyone need anything from us. On the rare occasion that we are in need of a break for fresh air, restroom, or otherwise, our breaks are kept very short and do not come often.
 
 We do NOT require any client to provide our meal. We discuss with the client during the planning process the OPTION they have of providing our meal. This is purely an option, and the only reason we ask is so we know in advance whether or not to feed ourselves before we arrive.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
On the rare occasion we need a break, again, the breaks will be very short. Also, when this occurs, we have our system set up to keep the music and lights going while we are gone.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
There are not many things that will keep us from making it to your event. On days that we have an event, the event is our top priority. However, emergencies may happen, in which case we always have a back-up ready to show up and take care of our clients on the day of their event. Our back-up DJs are the same highly trained professionals we use on a regular basis. If we would not use a particular DJ as your primary emcee, they are not qualified to be your back-up either.
 
 When a DJ of Something Blue completes their training, they go through a probationary period. This probation consists of being scheduled as the primary DJ/MC for events in the presance of a SBES Certified DJ. These are the highly trained professionals who have already been established as professional DJs with our high standards. When the probationary period is completed, and the individual has proven themselves to be a quality DJ, they will become Certified.
 Only SBES Certified DJs will be scheduled as professional DJs for your events and also as Back-up DJs.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
One DJ is never booked for more than one event on the same day. If we have an event booked, and someone else wants us for the same day, they will ALWAYS get another available SBES Certified DJ. We will not run the risk of a morning event getting extended, causing us to rush or be late for an afternoon or evening event.
 This also eliminates the possibility of sound or lighting equipment becoming damaged at an early event causing us to be unable to perform at a later event.
What is your overtime rate?
Overtime is delt with on a case by case basis. We have set rates for overtime, but there is rarely a call for it because most venues will give their clients a set time that they are required to be done. We discuss the possibility of overtime, and the additional rates, with every client prior to the booking.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
In most cases travel is free. We will travel up to 120 mles (round trip) without charging any extra for travel. If the travel required for the event is more than this, there can be extra charges accrued for travel and/or lodging.
 All possible charges for travel and/or lodging will be discussed with every client prior to the signing of the contract. We do not have any hidden or surprise fees. If any services are provided to a client without them being informed in writing with their signature in advance, said services will not be charged to the client other than overtime that is requested by the client during the event. (overtime requested by client on site and any offered TIPS are the only payments collected by our DJs)
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
Our satndard deposit is 50% of the total bill and the remaining balance is due no later than one week prior to the event. This allows us enough time for checks and credit card transactions to clear in order for us to pay our employees in an appropriate time-frame. Our employees will be at your event early and ready to perform their duties on the big day. The following day, they will return all company owned equipment to our warehouse and at that time will be compensated for their services. Our employees do not collect payments from clients or guests other than tips when they are offered, and/or charges for overtime requested by client on site. We train and employ the best DJs in the business, and we are able to do so because we pay them well and we pay them in a timely fashion. Some of our competitors don't pay their DJs as well or as quickly and that is how we are able to keep the best DJs working with us and provide them to you. That is why it is important for us to collect your balance in a time-frame that will allow us to compensate our employees appropriately.

Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
We will perform marriage services at any location the client desires.
What is your attire for the ceremony?
We will not outdress the Bride or the Groom. Our Officiants will generally be dressed in a suit or tuxedo, however, we are flexible to what is prefered by the Bride and Groom.
Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
All of our wedding ceremonies, like our DJ events are customizable. We will get to know our clients prior to their event and mold our "skript" to suit their personalities. However, there are certain portions of a wedding ceremony dialog which are required by the laws of the state. We are more than willing to have the Bride and Groom write their own vows, as a matter of fact we encourage it, but their self-written vows will be placed in addition to the required vows, not in place of them.
Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
Again, we encourage it. However they will be fit into the ceremony in addition to the legally required vows, not replace them.
Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
The couple can choose any readings they desire and are not required to have any readings. Readings are an option that we are more than willing to place into the ceremony upon request. In most cases, the readings will be added at no additional cost, but if the couple requests a large number of readings, there may be additional charges for extra time.
How long are your ceremonies?
Generally our wedding ceremonies range from 15-20 minutes in length. We allow at least one hour for each ceremony we officiate. The client is not required to use the entire hour, but can use as much of it as they like. Any ceremony that goes longer than one hour may generate additional charges for extra time.
Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
Premarital counseling is not a requirement, but it is offered as an option. We are not licensed psychologists, but we can offer advise to be used as tools to maintain a successful marriage. If the couple refuses to accept such offers for advise, we will certainly not force it on them.
Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
Pre-ceremony rehearsals are part of the officiant package. They are included in the price with the ceremony, but if the couple does not feel they need to have a rehearsal, they are welcome to decline the offer. However, if declined, it will not effect the price of the package, and we do reccommend that all couples have a rehearsal to insure everything goes more smoothely on wedding day.
Do you supply a sound system?
We have wedding ceremony sound packages available upon request. The sound package will come at an additional charge and includes, high quality speakers system for providing music and sound, hidden wireless microphones for the Officiant, Bride, and Groom, and a professional sound technician to operate all equipment.

Again, like everything else we do, our speciality is customization. What the couple wants, we will accomodate.
Do you support or cater to any specific religions?
Nothing specific. If our client wants their special day to be tailored to any religious preference we are not familiar with, we are more than happy to learn about any traditions/cultures. We will research and communicate with the couple throughout the planning process to insure that we are fitting their preferences.
What sizes of weddings have you coordinated in the past?
The weddings we have planned in the past have ranged from small to medium sized. As low as 50 people up to 150.
Which venues have you worked at or are familiar with?
As we have worked in this business for many years, we have worked in a wide variety of venues. To specify with a list of familiar venues would not be beneficial to anyone. The best way to answer this question is to say that it would be a long list.

To be honest, when we first met with Scott it was only to discuss his services as an officiate. After the meeting we had changed our mind and brought him on as our DJ as well. Something Blue is not like your typical, corporate owned, service company. Being a small business, they strive to make their services stand out and you will see this every time you meet or speak with them. We met with Scott 3 or 4 separate times in the planning process to go over all of our details. The planning process was easy and every point of the process was set up to exactly how we wanted it. Scott also provided plenty of help, input and guidance where needed. Last but not least, Scott created two customized entrances (parents and bridal party entrances) that were phenomenal!!! Scott was our officiant and DJ at our wedding at Boyne Mountain Resort and he was absolutely amazing! He, and his wife who assisted him, attended all our wedding events from the rehearsal dinner to a prewedding picnic, and even came to the after party when the reception was over. It was so great being able to get to know them, they offered to help with anything and everything over the weekend. The ceremony was perfect, Scott is a very good speaker. He even created an awesome wedding entrance just for us that was so much fun, rapping the music himself! The reception was a blast, I can't count the number of compliments we received about Scott from our guests. His DJ skills kept the reception energized and fun, everyone was dancing like crazy! Our wedding would not have been as wonderful and perfect as it was without Scott and Something Blue Entertainment!!

It was so great being able to get to know them, they offered to help with anything and everything over the weekend. The ceremony was perfect, Scott is a very good speaker. He even created an awesome wedding entrance just for us that was so much fun, rapping the music himself! The reception was a blast, I can't count the number of compliments we received about Scott from our guests. His DJ skills kept the reception energized and fun, everyone was dancing like crazy! Our wedding would not have been as wonderful and perfect as it was without Scott and Something Blue Entertainment!!

Scott with Something Blue Entertainment was amazing. He provided our ceremony music, he helped with the wedding planning, and he provided DJ service for the reception.

During the wedding planning, Scott was there whenever we needed him. He would come to the house or meet us wherever we wanted him to meet us. If we were stuck on something about the wedding he was there to give suggestions. He even gave ideas of certain songs for the Father, daughter dance and for the Mother, son dance. He helped us out tremendously during the planning of the wedding.

For the ceremony music, he made a CD of all of the songs that were going to be used during the ceremony. The transition from song to song blended well and the volume was perfect.

The music he played during the reception was phenomenal. He knew what to play and when. We could tell he really loves what he does. He made announcements of when certain events were going to happen. He took requests and played the requests in a timely manner. Scott did such a great job. People were coming up to us to compliment the work he was doing. One couple asked me if I knew if he was available to do their son's wedding. At the end of the night he handed us a CD that had our ceremony music, our grand entrance music, the song of our first dance, the song for the Father, Daughter dance, and the CD also had the song for the Mother, Son dance on it. This is a gift that we will keep forever.

We were very fortunate to have Scott as a part of our wedding. We couldn't have had or met a better person to share our day with us and to provide the services that he provided.
